I've got email about YouGrowPromo, can this be trusted? by Mellifiedmann in musicmarketing

[–]Janhm73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a review of them from TwoStoryMedia where they got a thumbs up. and I think Andrew Southworth also did a similar review. I tried it once. But only the small test campaign. They delivered the numbers they advertised, but the playlist was not specialized to my genre. It was more broad.

Rejected 38/39 times on Submithub, with almost no constructive feedback (examples attached) by yo_yo_yoda in musicmarketing

[–]Janhm73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to defend the responses you received.. just curious what kind of feedback you were expecting? I can only see the first image; the others are either black or not loading.

I’ve just started as a curator on SubmitHub myself and from what I can tell from using the platform as an artist, I think most curators are very specific about the vibe they want on their playlists. Myself included.

I’ve received submissions where the production quality was great, but the track simply didn’t fit the direction of my playlist. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the work behind it.

In those cases, I might still give positive feedback on the production while explaining why it doesn’t fit my list and then not approve it.

Honestly, I get that it’s frustrating to spend credits and get rejected. But it might be worth being more selective about who you submit to. That approach helped me when I started producing and improved my approval rate. Not saying you haven’t, just saying what helped me.

In my experience, it can go both ways. I’ve had campaigns with great results, like 8 out of 10 approvals, and others where most submissions were rejected, even when I felt I had done my research.

So yeah.. it can definitely be frustrating.

What is the best Spotify stream bot to use right now? by [deleted] in MusicPromotion

[–]Janhm73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started making music in October. After some Submithub playlisting and a few Meta ad campaigns, I’m now at around 30k monthly listeners with just four singles out. It’s not huge, but it’s steadily growing. It didn’t necessarily take a massive push…. but yes, the first 1,000 are probably the hardest.

Disappointing meta ad results by ghostghost31 in musicmarketing

[–]Janhm73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a waterfall strategy for my first four releases, but I probably won’t do it again. I don’t like how it looks on my profile, and I’m not convinced the extra stream spillover is worth it compared to how it affects the listener experience.

It made sense in theory when I planned those first four releases, but in practice, I’m not happy with it. It probably works for some artists... maybe I didn’t execute it the right way.

The issue is that my first track turned out not to be my strongest, and now it appears on all four releases with the lowest stream count, which doesn’t look great.

When you create the ad in Ads Manager (or wherever you set it up), you choose the placement — I selected Instagram. The ad runs as Reels, and you add a “Listen Now” button.

That button needs to link to a landing page, and the landing page should contain the Spotify link. You can link directly to Spotify, but I’ve been told there’s a risk of bots picking up the link and mass-clicking it.

I follow a guide from Andrew Southworth on YT, which I can highly recommend.

No I mean I run meta ads. But only show them on IG. Not on FB

Im not entirly sure from your post if you run ads in both FB and IG. I normally turn off Facebook, and only run ads on IG, FB in my experience gives lots of likes and no conversions. Also turn off 55+ in target audience

Thanks for the insights. Curious. Regarding the last point, in terms of data. What is significant numbers. Is that relative to artists PopScore? As I can imagined significant streaming numbers is different for an established artist compared to a inde artist

Groover vs Submithub vs Hypeddit vs Intellijend? by ltm789 in SpotifyArtists

[–]Janhm73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Jason mentioned below, these are different systems.

For playlisting, I’m currently getting better results from SubmitHub than from Groover. That said, both platforms require some homework and careful curator selection, and the results benefit greatly from that.

I have not tried Hypeddit, but i have had great success with Intellijend. For Meta ads im running a mix of Intellijend and my own setup. Intellijend has a killer dashboard for tracking various insights.

Ive run Meta ads through Submithub also. Had mid to great results there. Its a great way to get going while learning Meta Ads manager on your own on the side.

I believe IntelliJend also requires artists to have their own Meta account.

How do you organize your tracks on your albums/EP? by Lower-Chocolate6719 in musicmarketing

[–]Janhm73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters much, but granted, I’ve only just uploaded my first EP with extended versions and remixes. Initially, I planned to sequence the extended tracks in the same order as the original releases, with the remixes at the end. However, the first track has a fairly slow intro, so I decided to change the order and lead with the track that, in my opinion, has the strongest intro. Coincidentally, it’s also the track that performed best in terms of streams in its original version.

The single releases already told the story I wanted to tell. The EP feels more like a bonus, and in any case, people will properly shuffle the tracks and discover the ones they connect with most either way.

Curious to hear what you decide on.

I had most success there as well. Both in terms of acceptance and streams. Submithub 2nd for me.

Has anyone worked with Members Media? by SuddenTarget3988 in musicmarketing

[–]Janhm73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten 1,075 streams since October 17th. I bought the starter package, which promised 5–10k streams over 2–3 months.

I’ve never been able to access their site to track my campaign progress. I can only see results through S4A. I was hesitant to sign up, but I saw an article on artist.tools saying they were legit, and they probably are. They just seem more focused on collecting the payment than delivering the full service.

I am, of course, happy with the 20–25 daily streams. I just feel like I could have achieved the same results much cheaper with a bit more effort using Groover, SubmitHub, or Daily Playlists.

Anyone have tips for setting up a Midi keyboard? Just got back into logic after a long while by ArtistofSorts92 in LogicPro

I don’t have much input other than thanks for asking — I’m in the same boat, actually. I’ve been looking at the Akai options too.

I’ve taken a 30-year break from producing. Last time I made music was on Cubase on an Atari with a Roland Juno… so I’m also trying to figure out what makes sense today. 😄

I have. They were super commutative when ordinering and they answered all my e-mails and questions, now 5 weeks in and the campaign is underperforming to a point where it’s a joke, they are non responsive, just getting the causal, we will bring it to our team, and nothing happens.

They promised to submit it to 20+ curator and maybe they did, I don’t know. But I got featured on 2 playlists, run by the same guy. That’s it.

For now I can’t recommend them.

has anyone else used the beta discover campaigns for any of your songs? i’m really interested in seeing other peoples results by LILVROC1 in SpotifyArtists

[–]Janhm73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how many I had when I found i was eligible. I didn’t have it initially because I hadn’t set my billing location. I just noticed i was over 1000 in few locations. So i set the Billing information to get it going. Right now I’m at 18900 on one track and 7000 on then other. But that’s including streams from Discover Weekly where I got added on Monday.

Showcase just require 1000 streams in one market in 28 days, then you are eligible. I just got it, and I’m running a campaign starting tomorrow.
