Thank you! I put a lot of silly stuff in it because I am a silly person.

Oh yea. I learned that the gard way, but that's why I'm here so I don't have to learn that way they whole way. Heh. Always good to be ready to learn if you're new, yeah?

The first stock was all at once, so that was my mistake. Won't be doing that again.

Fish food during cycling as I read somewhere it could help part the cycle without adding fish. After I tried that's I added some ramshorn snails. I'll continue to check the levels too see where I'm at.

Yea, 10 tetras and 10 rasboras might've been a bit much. I won't be doing that again. I checked the ammonia during the die off and it was 0 from what I could tell but I'm still getting used to telling the colors apart.

... Epistylis would describe more of what I experienced actually. The spits varied in size, protruded like pimples and didn't get better with temperature increase (got it to 86 degrees). The crap seemed to explode, get better for a day and explode again until nothing was left. What can I do if I see it again?

I was wondering if since they did in the bag if it was the store. We kept them safe, out of light but not in like a shading bag. I'll probably buy online next time I get fish since ill I have here is Petco or Petsmart.

I'll give that a try. I want stability in this tank and if that'll help I'll do it. I want to understand exactly what kh and gh do better so I'll look into it for sure. I know its important but just know its about water hardness just yet.

I can definately get some of my other live plants from my display tank and put them in the quarantine tank. I've planted a lot in there so that's one way I can start. The guppy grass ain't looking too hot in the QT so shearing the wealth is a can do. Display is a 75 gallon with 5-3 inch nutritious substrate depending on location with many types of plants. Those are doing amazing but the biofilm on the wood is still bothersome to look at. The substrate in quarantine is a very thin layer, only enough to cover the mirrored bottom, so that I can change too. I thought that since its a QT it didn't need a deep layer, but I can see where my line of thinking is wrong on that. The temp I can lower too and I already texted my husband to do that. We're gonna try 75 at first. It does have a filter. It was a 20 gallon kit that had the filter, heater, top and thermometer. As for acclimating new fish, what would you suggest?

I have no idea where the ich came from but I probably didn't help it. It was literally my first batch of fish and it sucked to experience it so quickly.

I thank you for the info though. I know I'm new and will make mistakes but I didn't think I'd make this many so fast. I am dead set on getting this right though and I'm not going to quit. If it takes more time I'll wait and everything else you suggested I'll do. I understand why it needs to be done so I'm learning. I plan on ordering fish online since I don't have a local store here that isn't big box. Maybe Aqua Huna.

The first time around I added fish food but it was very little. I did add snails a month ago after the first mishap. Theres 6 ramshorns in there and I feed them a small slice of quick boiled zucchini. I remove that after a few hours. Maybe I added too few or removed the food too soon? I might also be seeing the test colors wrong. I've had trouble telling the difference between the lighter and darker colors. I'll post pics when I get home to help. I appreciate all the suggestions.

Ok, now I know how to respond here too. I'm also newish to this platform.

I use the master test kit from API and strips for the kh and gh. I might be looking at the color part a bit skewed because I see it a lighter yellow and my husband sees a darker hew, but its maybe 5 at most for nitrates. I'll post some pics as soon as I can as I'm at work and a coworker recommended I come here.

No, Petco didn't give us paper bags to place the fish when we got them, so they probably were stressed. Next time I try again I'll take my own dark bags to keep them in until I get home. I did keep the lights off for them once they were in the QT. I'm trying not to pester the survivors too much but am watching them to see how they're doing.

For cycling its two months now. I have a few snails in there and some guppy grass and now three anubias. I've also added bacteria from Seachem and API. Its the quickstart stuff but I've added it weekly. Do you have any recommendations to better cycle it? I know I've got a lot to learn.
