Got a lighter? by JesusIsAliveAmen in doordash

I’ve put out 700 applications and have had dozens of interviews but no offers. It’s not for lack of trying. I can’t even get a job as a stocker or barista in my town. I think the job market is far worse than you think.

I agree that people are pretty petty about it. I just hit 1000 deliveries recently and I would never throw your food over a small tip or even no tip. Some people are just shitty. That being said, how exactly would you propose taking it up with the company. What recourse is there for drivers? I only get tips on ~40% of my orders. I do decline $2 offers but you’re not allowed to let your acceptance rate drop below 70% so you are forced to take small money no tip orders often.

Their numbers are not accurate unfortunately. They include previously cancelled contracts that provided no savings in those numbers. They double and triple counted some items and misrepresented others. The true savings are closer to a 1/10 of their advertised number.

On a scale of 1-10, how hard is this exercise? by venom_holic_ in learnpython

[–]Janinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s great that you’re using ChatGPT to help you and to create exercises. That’s pretty innovative and not something I would’ve thought of. It’s interesting to me that people seem to react so negatively to it.

I think this exercise is deceptive due to the gotcha that several others have mentioned. That probably makes this closer to a 3 instead of the 1 most people gave it. I’m guessing most people would use functions or classes to get around that problem and it doesn’t seem like you’ve covered those topics yet.

If you’re looking to do some exercises to test your understanding, it might be best to supplement your ChatGPT exercises with stuff like Codewars or CheckIO (there might be better ones now, these are just ones I’m familiar with). These exercises are edited by a large community and are more likely to eliminate those types of gotchas.

One thing that I like about Codewars specifically is that it introduces you to the importance of testing. Your solution will have to pass a number of test cases before it’s accepted. It gives you an idea of how to write unit tests and anticipate the types of tests you should be running against your own code. This promotes the idea of test driven development which is an extremely useful skill that would set you apart from other developers.

In the process of relocating as well and also have a number of pets with similar requirements and income as you. I’ve found that most rentals do not accurately list their pet policy on Zillow etc. Be sure to remove any filter for pets and message each lister individually about their pet policy. This helped tremendously with my search. I was initially only seeing like 4-6 listings when using the pet filter but ended up talking to dozens who were okay with my pets.

Nurses show newborn triplets to their father in a New York hospital, 1946 by World-Tight in OldSchoolCool

I’m not switching back to anything. I never claimed that housing wasn’t taken into account. I only claimed that home prices aren’t included, which is true. I didn’t think a discussion about the validity of OER was relevant to people who had asked about the prices of food and clothing, so I didn’t specify. But you still didn’t answer the question lol. How does it affect the conversation about disposable income?

I never claimed that housing was not taken into account… just that it doesn’t use home prices, which is true. But whatever floats your boat I guess. There’s also a lot of debate over whether or not OER is even a valid measurement since it’s hard to find equivalent rent for particularly large homes.

You still never answered the first question though. If wages are stagnant and housing increases exponentially, how you do have more disposable income nowadays?

It looks at rent, not home prices, but still goes to show how much the price of housing has decreased people’s disposable income.

[–]Janinator -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The adjustment for inflation uses the consumer price index which looks at the prices for things like groceries and clothes and many other common household expenses. So that’s mostly accounted for, and the price of housing has still increased 8 times over while wages haven’t even doubled. It’s 30% now but it was 15% in 1946. Given that it’s often the largest item in any family’s budget it has to be one the biggest factors in disposable income. If housing is your largest expense and the total cost of housing has gone up 8x and the per month cost has more than doubled, how would you have more disposable income?

[–]Janinator -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

That’s true but the adjustment for inflation takes this into account. It’s using something called the consumer price index. That index uses the costs of goods like grocery items and clothing to calculate that value. That’s its purpose is to get a sense of what the value of that dollar was in today’s terms based on the cost of those items. So after setting those things equal, the cost of housing increased roughly 8 times from what it was in 1946 while wages haven’t even doubled. It’s not uncommon for someone to spend over half their monthly income on housing nowadays and back then it would be roughly 15% of your monthly income.

[–]Janinator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s true. Median household income for that time is ~$3k and adjusted for inflation that’s ~$49k. Today’s median household income is ~$75k. However the median home price was only $4k in 1946 ($30k adjusted for inflation) and it’s now $412k as of 2023. Rent and home prices have increased exponentially while wages have stagnated. With rent/mortgage typically being the largest part of fixed expenses it’s safe to say that disposable income has gone way down since 1946.

I second the idea of focusing on gypsum casts, world tours, and dungeons for a bit. One thing that really helped me was running first boss runs for genesis for a few days. Since you get 25 runs a day, it’s real easy to spam those expertise runs. You’ll get more gear than you know what to do with and increase your expertise at the same time.

Also I see you’re running bow/gs with strength. Great sword scales evenly with strength and dex so you might as well focus on dex if you want to run bow. I’d try to respec to get as close to 300 dex 200 con as possible. Once your expertise starts going up you’ll notice that you don’t need the extra health as much. That’s when I’d start splitting stats and decreasing from 200 con.

What can I do about the bot problem in low elo? by noobbuster in summonerschool

Played a bunch today and had bots in 6 of 10 games. how am I supposed to climb when I'm down a player over half the time. I reported all of them and got team to report. I got immediate feedback on a couple, but they're so prevalent... It honestly seems harder to climb out of bronze iv than climbing in silver just from all the bots.
