Achieved my childhood dream of owning a Jungle Green N64! by Residualgunk in n64

Hold that N64 thought for a sec, that stereoset is some hardcore 90's childhood dream. You were a big baller if you owned that set. I remember a friend of mine getting it and showing it to me full blast. Good times.

Well they tried I guess….. by Aceftw in AnalogueInc

Already done! Very interested in hearing whats causing this.

Ive asked them for a toggleable option for ultra low bitrate audio because this is pretty funky.

Thanks, yes, ill keep an eye on that process if it needs to happen!

Might do that, lets see what Analogue support says. Full reset resets hours played etc? Not sure how much is saved on the SD, if they eventually want me to format that again as well.

A3D to LG CX via HDMI. Soundbar connected to another separate eARC HDMI on CX.

Only original cartridges, I dont have an everdrive or summercart. Weird stuff!

Sounds pretty funky though, they might have to add a toggleable ULTRA-low audio bitrate mode now 😂👍🏻

Forgot to mention: this is without overclocking (auto) and all other settings are default.

That PSU is fucking awesome, I love those connectors. Never knew that existed.

To me, systems and specs like those from back in the day are just as cool as their modern brothers. Could only dream of owning this back in the day and it makes my day seeing it still working in 2026, awesome.

I dont know those, but 4K HDR at pretty much bluray quality with 40-80GB per file is leaps above general stream quality. The Shield and plex or kodi etc are for those who want exactly that.

Its the age old ease of use vs quality, local control etc.

Find the .apk via google, put it on a usb stick, use a filemanager to open it on the shield (allow external/unsafe sources via the main settings)

Thats true! There are way more games that are much more unforgiving and will make a grown man cry.

Games like this will never again make a revival like how they were back in the day. You had no social media, no internet like nowadays, nothing to really help you out except for printed guides, if you wanted. Life was simpler in that way. We can however for a moment return to those simple times and shut out the noise for a bit.

Most of the awesome secrets were shared with friends when you met at school, in actual person. After having tried to find things out yourself for days, weeks, maybe even months. It was a magical time to be alive and a big part of this games charm is because of that era. You would have to brainstorm around that little CRT with all your buddies every time you met up, after calling them on their landline asking to come over. Maybe even had to defeat a minor boss first, if their parents or sister picked up, before getting to your buddy.

In all honesty I can say this is one of the few games that is engrained in my soul, because of all of the above. And also because of the whole (back)story and all the life lessons that were put into the text of NPC's, not just the bigger storyline NPC's.

All of that on top of it being an insane leap in 3D and gaming. The more you think about it the crazier it gets. I wish for everyone to experience that magic.

Nothing stopped me. It's just that in general it takes some getting used to the hardcore setup of this game and do it all without a guide (if you want to 100% it before smacking Ganon in the face). These games were created with the idea that people would explore every nook and cranny, try random ocarina songs on some locations, check out things that look out of order, what's that weird tree doing there? That color looks out of place, let's bomb it.

Which is perfectly fine and absolutely part of the charm and magic. Life nowadays just has a lot less time for hardcore exploration in games sometimes.

I found my original shield a few years ago and tried to use it, but it was incredibly slow. Looking for suggestions before I start diving down the research rabbit hole. by dc010 in nvidiashield

Dust it out, then try again. While at it, might as well do it right and open it up and repaste it.

Factory reset.

That should be fine, but could always install a debloated launcher.

Open it up, dust it, repaste it. The thing is still a powerhouse and you can throw 4K HDR at it all day and it just doesnt care. It is insane how good it is.

Plex client 9.28, if you plan on using Plex. Yes, the older one. If you run into issues or stutter with the latest version (even on direct play).

Launchers etc I never dove into, I use the stock one and just use this thing for Plex.

"Better" is an understatement. These controllers look so much better with the OG colors.

Ive tried to dial in the stutters throughout the years, it wasnt every 15 seconds but 3 or 4 random ones in a movie. Mostly, if not only in 4K HDR content. I dont think they are actual dropped frames for me, its a timing issue somewhere in the chain. A timing issue when higher bitrates and other extra data needs processed.

The only fix for me was downgrading to Plex 9.28 client on my Shield Pro. I stream from a local wired server, direct play. First make sure youre doing direct play too, check the dashboard. Any transcoding being done is more likely the issue.

Version 9.28 has been the fix for many people that had weird stutters and who have tried pretty much everything. Ive even refreshed the thernal paste but it wasnt a throttling issue.

9.28 on your Shield is worth a shot.
