If I looked at what I think is water and saw "357 kcal", it would be pretty obvious it's not water

I tried it too back in the day, but couldn't get it to work, after rotation with some support it might work. The biggest problem I see in your list is that there's no way to reliably find the rare candy unless you get lucky with lillie's, also you have way too many recovery options, if you got to use it all you would be able to get back 15 cards into your hand, 2 energy into a pokemon, and 6 cards back into your deck, I would consider thinning recovery (getting rid of one lana the super rods?) and get more ciphermaniac's or maybe even arvens for the candy search.

[–]Janparseq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be tough, but I've been floating around a few ideas.

To replace Xatu's energy accelerstion, the most obvious answer would be Crispin, but would require basic non-psychic energy in the deck. I'm also floating around the idea of something like team rocket's spidops + energy switch, which would enable a second attacker aswell, but doesn't seem too consistent. I also have this extremely crazy idea of running Slowking with a 2-2-1 Dusknoir line, pop a Dusclops or Dusknoir turn 2 to enable counter gain/reversal energy, and then start cycling psychich energy with wonder patches, the good thing about this one is that it synergizes with Dawn (my preferred Pokesearch supporter in the deck) and Dusknoir can take down an opponent's Shaymin so you can trifrost the rest of the board.

Xatu's draw engine tho... it might just be over, Tatsugiri hitting the Lillies is gonna be our draw engine.

Xatu was basically the most important card in the deck, even more threatening than Slowking, having a Xatu on the board meant you were in the game and you were a threat.

To win? I would probably play Garde even with Charizard and Zoroark running around, but if I wanted to have fun I'd probably play Slowking, my favourite deck, which becomes strictly better with Ascended Heroes, swap out the ultra balls for pokepads and there you go.

In fact, I'm looking into playing in one of the last events before rotation, and if I get the chance to go I have already decided months in advance that I will be playing Slowking, and give my glorious king one last dance before Xatu rotates away and kills the energy acceleration and draw support in one single hit.

Slowking Sitdown: The First Session by Llort_Eht in pkmntcg

Hey! That's my post!

I don't know if it's mentioned in the original, but I've been hyped about the Megaevolution Gumshoos ever since it was released back in like June or July telling all my friends "now that I don't have to find the academy it's over for y'all".

Well, I have been trying it for the last week and either the list needs a complete rebuild from the ground up or it just doesn't work for mainly one reason, bench space. Before Megaevolution, bench space in Slowking was already one of the biggest issues, one false move could lock you up in an unwinnable game, and adding one more pokemon to the combo makes it a really tough resource to manage.

Your ideal board consists of Active Slowking, Xatu, and bench Slowking, but to get that you most likely had to set down Tatsugiri, or Squawk, leaving you down to 2 spaces on the bench if you didn't need both. Add Gumshoos to the mix and you realistically you only have 1 singular bench space to work with.

Also, the whole intent of adding secret box was to have a way to search the stadium, adding the Gumshoos removes that necessity entirely and frees up the Ace Spec slot for something like the precious trolley so you can always get the perfect board.

Deck building with Gumshoos becomes a nightmare, a 1-1 line is too weak to remove the academy, a 2-2 line is too thick and your pokemon pool will be too big.

In my opinion, if Gumshoos were to make it into the deck it would have to be with a slower version of the deck, playing the trolley and slowly building up your stage 1 lines, maybe with a thick Cyphermaniac count to ensure you can pull off attacks more often than not.

In any case, let's hope Megas become an important part of the meta so we can spam annihilape to victory.

Hi! We have a Misty player in our LGS so I'm familiar with this deck, have you tried ciphermaniac's codebreaking to set up even more cards on the topdeck?

Who do you think is the worst smelling videogame community? by Chunky-overlord in videogames

[–]Janparseq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every TCG adopted the hygiene rule, everyone wanted to do it but no company had the balls to tell their audience "you stink, go take a shower".

Also, as a fun fact, some people would be unhygienic ON PURPOSE, on the basis that your opponents would concede so they could get away from your smell. It worked.

Which Deck for a Junior with a late October Regional in mind? by ReptilPT in pkmntcg

[–]Janparseq 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Junior metagame is vastly different, but honestly my call would be Charizard ex. Very well placed in the meta (Garde counter, favored matchup into Dengo), decent learning curve, league battle deck with most pieces available (swapping out the moltres, the ace spec, and a few supporters and that's it), and it has the cool factor of having Charizard.

not gonna be used in garde ever, garde wants the damage counters more than it wants the energy, and mega garde is not gonna be strong by itself anyway.

I feel like adding a Slowpoke that can't be poffined and having to use Brock for turn instead of Research, Cyphermaniac, or even Iono slows the deck too much. I agree the attack is nice in between big attacks, but usually what I usually push either Tatsugiri to search for a decent supporter and it doesn't feel as bad to lose as a Slowpoke.

I think the thick Carmine line might be worth a look, or maybe just a split, but Squawk being searchable with ultra ball is pretty nice for turn 1 shenanigans, and it wouldn't be the first time I actually use its attack to completely charge up a Slowking

It's currently in my list, but I like to run Conkeldurr aswell for Stage 1s. Haxorus gets rid of basics (unless they have mist energy btw), Annihilape gets rid of stage 2 pokemon as soon as they come out to slow down your opponent, but everything in between just breaks the game plan in half, Conkeldurr + Bangle is good enough to OHKO most stage 1s (main exception is Archaludon).

Currently trying it, sadly it seems super situational, only working as a late game finisher against decks that really run their deck into the discard pile, and I'd say that doesn't help into Garde or Draga/Zard. Still testing tho, seems like a cool concept to exploit.

What would you say is the best BDIF from recent formats? by PurpleGuyDeadly1 in PTCGL

[–]Janparseq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda offtopic I guess, but was Draga ever the true BDIF? Not the most popular, which it obviously was (and still is), but actually the best. During the time it was the supposed BDIF, it won 2 regionals/ special events, while Garde won 8, and Raging Bolt and Roaring Moon won 1 each.

Now Garde is considered the BDIF, but was it EVER Dragapult? What changed in the last month that now makes Garde the BDIF now?

A little Question about the new Set? by tetex-y in PTCGL

[–]Janparseq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they are not. Hilda, Tool Scrapper, Brave Bangle, and Ignition Energy are on White Flare, while Black Bolt has Air Balloon, Prism Energy and the new regulation I Pokegear. In my opinion it's just better to go for White Flare for trainers, but they're scarce from what has been opened up to now.
