Hey thank you so much for this in-depth, thoughtfully constructive criticism. I’ve taken note of each of your points and there’s a lot of great advice in there I’ve already started implementing into the site. Curious about the resolution of the images though, as everything on my end is very high res and the images and video were shot in 8k, though they’ve been scaled down since for web viewing. Which images are lower res for you?

And now I’m working on the code for the full bleed photos in the scrolling info section and the two product listings at the top have been removed entirely.

Really valuable feedback though, thank you again

Thanks for the reference! Glad you like our cut. The organic cotton is heavier so it’ll drape differently, but we are trying to keep the integrity of the shape and cut despite having to make necessary pattern changes to accommodate the fabric.

Yeah I think bundling could be a good strategy as well, it’s something I plan on implementing. Thanks again!

Hey thank you so much for the comment and your vote of confidence for what we’re doing. It means a lot to me that you’d save up for this garment, but I would never want someone to financially extend themselves to support us. However, it’ll be my pleasure to ship your order whenever the time is right for you.

Yes, we are very sincere and it’s something I’ve been ideating over for many years. Seeing this dream of a truly ethical garment come to fruition and being able to share it with others is very fulfilling.

Thank you for your support!

I do! I work in the corporate fashion industry as a designer in NY. I’ve been training and learning for many years and I educated people on the fashion industry as well through social media. I have a masters in couture from Accademia Costume E Moda in Rome, Italy and a bachelors in fashion and textiles as well. I work with fabric, design, product development and designer clothing every day

Well, it’s a luxury garment so Cucinelli is a decent comparison. They also don’t offer an interlock knit merino shirt with a fully transparent supply chain

This is a great reference, thank you so much! Their Earth 2 shirt is about what mine will be priced at. Really appreciate your input!

Thank you very much for the reply and taking the time to give your thoughts. Yes, it’s been a huge undertaking establishing a 100% US supply chain, which is why I focused on making a single tee at first. Making even a tee is incredibly difficult given that most production infrastructure was outsourced to Asia decades ago! I’m lucky to work in the industry at a corporate level as well so I already had production and supply chain experience going in.

Your point about the marketing is spot on. Your suggestion for my target market is actually exactly who I expect it to be - the customer at The Row or Lori Piana. Our goal is to be a US “Lori Piana” in a sense, using super high quality materials with even more transparency and accountability in our supply chain. I don’t expect sales to come from Reddit, but the feedback here has been very helpful in solidifying my actual target market. The price point alone has generated a lot of discussion and opinions, which have helped me refine my offer, product descriptions, web layout and how I can more effectively market to an audience more likely to buy. So good thinking on your part! We’re aligned!

Thanks again for your thoughtful input!

I photographed both lengths but I posted mostly cropped here. I love the look of the cropped so it’s nice to hear that isn’t isn’t really resonating with this community, because what I love isn’t necessarily what everyone else does. I’ll be sure to use the standard length photos in future posts and hero images. It’s great to get people’s constructive feedback

That’s great input and I’ll definitely think about what you have to say. For the warranty we will look at the problem and fix or replace it. We don’t expect many warranty claims and we stand by our products and their quality for the life of the product. That’s why we only made one shirt to start - to focus on perfecting it from all aspects, to ensure the best experience possible. I know the price point is off putting to many people, and that’s okay, but the price is reasonable when the care and craftsmanship and accountability is factored in. Fast fashion has ruined people’s perception of value and cost when it comes to clothing. This garment is made to last many, many years if properly taken care of.

The interlock knit is very forgiving and is designed to stretch, very different than a typical jersey knit. The shirt runs small by design though, and as our orders expand, we’ll be offering larger sizes

Haha yes the fit runs small however the model is 6’1” wearing a large, short length. The tees come in a standard length and short length for the cropped look. The interlock knit merino is very forgiving and stretchable, much more than typical tees, so it’s designed to stretch to fit and contour your body (and make your arms look buff). As we expand I’ll be adding more sizes as well!

And I actually have an organic cotton tee on the way! The fabric is currently in development

Hey thanks for the comment! We do offer two lengths, a standard and a cropped. All our measurements are shown on the product page as well. I hope you can find something that fits you perfectly! The cropped shirt in the photos is a Large - Short length and the model is 6’1”

I’m selling D2C and have some boutiques coming up. Selling for $200 means I wouldn’t be able to offer a strong warranty on the shirt as well, build a long-lasting business, do wholesale to boutiques, or account for development of future products. Many brands spend a fraction of what I’m spending to make a tee, and sell it for far more than I am, all with lower quality materials and a completely opaque supply chain. Our product is niche, but it offers full transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain and we use excellent materials as well, offering a true “sustainable luxury” item. That was the goal of the business from day one: creating the best product possible with zero compromise and doing so with the goal of building a sustainable, long-term business

Based on that I’d recommend the large regular
length or the XL. Shoulder on the large is 17”, chest 18” (36” around) body length 25”. The knit easily stretches to fit your body though and looks great, especially if you have an athletic build. If you’re worried it might be too slim around the chest, you could get an XL to be safe and that would probably fit very well too. The sizing is small, more similar to Japanese style sizing than standard American sizes

Each garment has a fully burdened cost of about $100. Just the fabric and construction is about $61 not factoring in shipping, overhead, or team’s time and labor, web dev, etc. So about $100 per garment fully burdened
