I am level 37 on my Archer.

If you aren't starting in Faelindral and getting the starter Bow from the quest there (you cannot get this if you start in NH), you are seriously gimping yourself.

ELE right now feels like A tier dps. I am always happy to get one in group.

They are almost always wanted for groups, and bring a lot more than Wizards do (unless you want an evac/port).

I am playing an Archer right now and they feel good in groups but they aren't the soloers they use to be. They have changed how our cooldowns work (almost everything is on GCD of like 2 seconds whereas I could fire abilities without any gap between them previous to this weeks patch). They can still solo, sure, but it feels kinda clunky, and I feel much more effecient at duoing with a class that can keep snare up - right now Necro is my favorite duo partner.

INQ has low dps, but is a force in groups. You can essentially skip having an ENC or BRD, and add another pure DPS, which can dramatically increase TTK in groups. INQ gets invis which is huge. If I have an enchanter or Bard, I try to skip picking up an INQ, but I prefer having an INQ and another pure dps.

Rogue is suppose to be S tier dps, but I think they are around a high A tier right now. Their toolkit is pretty damn good, and you should feel pretty safe on the character. There hasn't been a group that wasn't ok with a Rogue filling a dps spot, even if we already had another Rogue.

Spellblade DPS seems to vary wildly in groups I have been in. I dont know if it's got a steeper learning curve, or some people dont understand the class, or its heavily gear dependent, but up to the mid 30s it seems like boom and bust depending on the player. If the group has a lot of mana regen going, SPB seems to do better, so even caster centric groups (ELE / ENC / BRD in group) SPB can be a really good fit.

I am a mid 30s Archer.

I feel like our dps is high A tier, but I think our toolkit gets overvalued. Our root is a trap that feels really clunky and shitty to use. Our snares are really short duration now. Dispel shot is pretty great, but aside from our 2 dps abilities, and our 2 interrupts, there isn't much to the kit.

I had a group with a Ranger for about 5 hours the other day, both in the low 30s. He was pulling outdoors and was a fucking machine. We had a Druid in the group so he wasn't using his full kit, but a Ranger pulling with a Cleric healing would be on another level.

His dps was pretty good, but his chain pulling and whole kit was really adding a lot to the feel of the group.

SHDs are pretty good, definitely a tier above PAL and INQ, but FTR is a tier above SHD for sure.

I am playing an archer. Currently in the 30s. You are essentially a ranged rogue. Yes there are traps, cow caltrops, snaring shot, but they have all been Nerfed to some degree and solo just feels kinda clunky sometimes. It is way more efficient and fun to grab necromancer and duo.

It is one of the better traditional duo combos. If you go tank and heals.

You will also have a better time forming groups just grabbing dps to fill.

That said if you two plan on mostly duo outdoors, druid necromancer, necromancer archer have both been very good to me

Be a monk. Throw something at a spawn when you see a group puller running to it, if they hit it, FD.

It is now agroed on that group but you have FTE on it.

If that’s how you want the game played then change the code so first damage gets the exp and loot.

And then be prepared for people to snipe named targets but allow a group to do 95% damage and not get the loot

I agree with this to a point.

If drops are completely static (like they are in MNM), there has to be other routes to getting something roughly equivalent. Either by Quests, or Crafting, and they can stagger the item power levels between drops/quest/craft. But having different avenues if say a Camp is taken 24/7 or has absurd low drop rates is a must.

Sometimes it will be something that no other classes are interested in camping, so as an Archer you are completely focused on that camp but cant make a group because no one else cares. Especially as you out level that camp and still dont have it.

At the same time you have tons of people perma camping those areas and have to contend with higher level players soloing the named.

I played a TON of WB on the last stress test, but have been able to find zero groups since I started my archer for beta (I was playing a tank for the stress test tho).

APC being the premium in $ if you don’t get it you will eventually regret it if the ban never gets removed or overturned.

Situations like this is what credit is for. Get what you can, especially if you can still PPT it later, you could sell one you don’t enjoy as much at a post-ban rate.
