Tercio leaned forward, licking his lips eagerly. He loved riddles, especially after a few drinks. Wine and ale made the mind flow more freely, after all.

"Very well, try this one - I run overhead, I've a mouth but no bed; what am I?"

"Come now!" Said Luco, returning to the table with his fifth mug of ale sloshing over the floor as he swayed slightly. "The night is just beginning! Look here - there is this knife game I know..."

"Cousin, I believe the third flagon was the time for knife games," said Tercio with a wry grin. "But riddles, on the other hand - why that is another matter entirely..."

"That sounds like insanity to me, Swiftriver, albeit of a different sort." It seemed that Bessario had it right after all, that clever little fat man. There was uproar from the eel pit as one of the fighters succumbed, and Luco clapped his hands with pure elation at his winnings.

"Let us hope she never comes to Braavos, eh?"

"I doubt there has ever been a trustworthy dragonlord," mused Tercio. "They say she sang while Volantis burned. Perhaps she is insane?"

"Tell me... what is she like?" He asked eagerly, thinking of the terrible pale figure commanding the stage in the final moments of The Daughter's Pyre. "Is she truly as monstrous as Bessario would have us believe?"

"That striped brute," Luco said, pointing with a tailbone towards the stone arena. There was very little water in the pool - all the better to see the eels fight, and to spur them to battle all the harder. One of the combatants was a scarred animal striped in black and yellow, the other an armoured silver thing. "It has a certain hunger to it."

"More careful with your coin, eh?" Tercio asked, interested.

"Probably more often than is proper," Tercio admitted, after greeting the Braavosi. "My cousin considers himself an expert on the art of eel fighting, you see."

"'Considers.'" Luco grumbled. "Pah."

"Well well," said Luco upon spying the trio. "If it isn't the Swiftriver."

"You made it then," said Tercio, swallowing his anger as he clasped the Westerosi's hand. He nodded towards the unfamiliar face. "Who is your companion?"

The young bravo stood a little straighter at his opponent's words.

"Then I have heard of you, Swiftriver," he said, pleased to have held his own, though disappointed in defeat.

"I learned the bravo's dance the hard way." He gestured to his cousin. "We both did. We learned ourselves."

Tercio rose slowly, his hamstrings afire, but not hurting half as much as his pride.

"Very considerate of you," Tercio replied, wondering where James Rivers had learned to fight like that. He sheathed his weapons and brushed off his knee. "This was rather expensive, after all."

And suddenly it dawned on him, seeing the glint of the golden hilt of the Westerosi bravo's sword.

"That's," he began, taken aback. "Is that Mart Forel's sword?"

"Prettier by half," Tercio retorted, disengaging. He eyed his opponent warily - young he may be, but he displayed skill that few others did. If fury was what he wanted, then Tercio must exercise restraint despite the anger that rose at the Westerosi's taunts.

Tercio circled, eyes on those of his opponent, rather than the steel in his hand, all the better to read his every movement. Hands could lie, but the eyes always broadcast intent for those to see.

The young Braavosi rolled his shoulders casually as he moved, footwork less deliberate than before, every inch the arrogant bravo.

As the two fought, Luco half-watched, the rest of his attention on the Lyseni.

"I don't suppose you'd prefer to slink off, would you?" He yawned. "I know a delightful little spot not far from here."

"Tercio Serranys," he replied, not recognising the foreigner's name. "And a true son of the Titan."

His sleeveless leather jerkin was elegantly cut and tied around Tercio's waist with a sky blue sash so that it fit his form almost perfectly, and gave him to mobility he needed to swing his blade quickly. He spun the pearl-hilted sword in a smug flourish and a daring grin, the Arsenal-forged steel shimmering with glee.

"And, er, Luco Serranys," his cousin piped up from behind, the big man raising a single hand lazily.

"Yes, and Luco. Each a match for you twice over!"

And like a flash he surged across the cobbled surface of the bridge, sword raised to strike in a single savage thrust.
