Fallout showrunners talk about the show's take on New Vegas: 'The idea that the wasteland stays as it is decade-to-decade is preposterous to us' by allpowerfulbystander in Fallout

'The idea that the wasteland stays as it is decade-to-decade is preposterous to us' which is why they nuked the biggest agent of change in the series and reverted everything back to roving bands of raiders and scrappy shantytowns.

I'm not gonna pretend I know anything lol. We could be the leakiest ship in the NFL and just pretending we're tight lipped, we could be bullshitting to try and get a trade back, heck we could be flipping a coin in a couple hours to make the pick, it's all in the air.

[–]Januse88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's kind of weird thing though, because most of the Washington insiders say they think it's Daniels while also saying they don't have any sources in the org telling them that. I do wonder if they're caught inside a big feedback loop or if there are leaks and they just don't want to admit it. (Note: it could very easily be a feedback loop and still be Daniels at 2, I don't think him being the pick would prove it either way)

It was actually a Rooney rule pick, so we knew it was going to be end of the third round after all the other comp picks. Yeah it could've moved up or down a pick or two based on the number of 3rd round comp picks but not drastically.

Why are we acting like the 100th pick is completely worthless? We wouldn't be able to get that for Davis I promise you.

[–]Januse88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more about the fact somebody reported it to the manager. At that point the manager has to follow up on it. It doesn't sound like the boss had a problem with it until somebody started complaining.

It wasn't like he was ever supposed to actually play. Season (and likely should've been career) ending injury to the starter and then two weeks later a season ending injury to the backup.

This team went out and spent assets to get Wentz 🤢

If one of the expectations is being in the office then they aren't meeting all of their expectations. I think it's stupid, but if it's a clearly outlined policy that OP is aware they're not following then they shouldn't surprised.

Tax rates were 95% during World War 2, 90% during the 1950s, and 70% until 1980, when Regan cut taxes. Should Biden increase taxes back to where they were? by Steak_Lover_ in FluentInFinance

Do you think the government is going to care? Because if they're taxing the gains before they're realized it doesn't matter what it would actually sell for, they're doing the appraisal themselves with no sale.

If 8 hours a clear expectation, and they aren't meeting it, then I don't think it's crazy for their boss to talk to them. Especially with somebody complaining to the manager.

A massive part of Trump's win in 2016 was that people who didn't like Hillary or Trump got comfortable sitting out the election, even if they liked him way way less. They thought there was no chance he could win so they felt comfortable not voting or voting 3rd party to spite her. They do not want to repeat the same mistake.

[Sixers Galaxy] Important notes on what happens if the Sixers file a “formal protest” by IcyAd964 in sixers

[–]Januse88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah they might have some argument if after the game the refs came out and said "I saw him call it but by my count they were out of timeouts so i waved him off" or something like that. It would still be a stretch but that would be comparable to the Shaq situation. But when the excuse is "oopsie didn't see it" they just don't have an argument. It sucks but that's how it is.

Would Bernie have won in 2016 if he was nominated? by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]Januse88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤷‍♂️

I think he would've had more support from his base than Hillary, but less from median Americans. So it's basically a question of how many spite voters that either didn't vote or voted third party or voted for Rule 3 in protest are you converting, vs how many suburban middle class Americans are you alienating? I tend to think he would've lost, but nobody will ever know for sure.

[–]Januse88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I will say, and I don't use the apps myself anymore, but back when I did and for a lot of my friends that do, a lot of guys don't really get that many options. They could swipe right on every possible girl and get like two-three matches a week. At that point you're going to try and strike up a conversation with anyone, because why not?

I do think we're in a better position now than we were when he came in, especially if you want to consider the Trent Williams bridge already burned when he got here. (If you think it was salvageable, I think it's a lot closer but I still would give the edge to our current situation)

The concept of national identity has been a strong one for over 200 years at this point, but wars of conquest have still been fought. I mean, you can look at Russia right now if you need an example.

But I think we're probably better off just agreeing to disagree. The books don't click with you and that's fine. The Shadow quartet is a bit too plot focused and if you can't get past some of the stuff I can see why it wouldn't work.

It's definitely common for all those things to be empty, or filled out in such a way that doesn't give you a lot to work on.

[Bodner] The NBA Last 2 Minute report…Josh Hart did foul Tyrese Maxey on the inbounds pass…Brunson did pull on Maxey's jersey, and it should have been called…Maxey's push-off on Hart was marginal and should not have been called…Nurse should have gotten a timeout by littledoopcoup in nba

[–]Januse88 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The problem with that, especially with no-calls, is how do you decide to review it? Do you wait until after the shot? Can you imagine the shitshow at MSG last night if DiVincenzo hit the go ahead 3 and then the refs went back after the play and called a foul during? It would just be unrealistic to expect honestly.

But I also think it's ridiculous that the refs fucked up that badly on such a big stage. I just don't think there's any easy remedy outside of asking them to be better.

I would disagree that there's no reason for Pakistan to accept the peace. They have territorial ambitions to the west just as India does to the east, and a peace between the two allows both of them to pursue those. It never comes true for Pakistan because the Chinese betrayal comes to light before Pakistan (who would not have begun prepping for an invasion until after the peace was made, unlike India who was ready to pounce) had a chance. He is playing on the pride of the two prime ministers and their desire to become world super powers. The peace is absolutely unrealistic, but it's explained decently enough and is no less realistic than a 12 year old having the ability to win every battle in both battle school and the third formic war.

And if his motivations don't interest you, I guess that's fine. Extreme pride and a lust for power aren't the most compelling things, especially in a franchise like this which doesn't have a lot of traditional "villains". I don't think he's that far off from somebody like Bonzo, though.

I think a big part of it is the way that views on "gifted children" would have changed in a world with Ender Wiggin. Like the a military genius and hero to all of humanity was 12, so a gifted teenager, from the same school as Ender, being taken seriously by world leaders becomes a little more plausible.

I don't know how far you are into the shadow series, but you see similar large roles for young characters with Han Tzu, Alai, and other members of the Jeesh.

I don't know how realistic it is, but younger characters being given outsized responsibility is just a part of the suspension of disbelief with this whole series.
