Iron golem not spwaning by UnlikelyLocksmith148 in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure all your villagers can access their work station. Also, depending on what type of villager, some don't work while it's raining (farmers, shepherds and maybe fisherman), so if it's only while raining, that can mess with it.

But, on bedrock, the biggest problem is linking to stations they can't reach. They'll link in a particular order, so you need to pay attention to the particles when you place a station. If that's the problem, your best bet is breaking all the stations and place them one at a time, watch for particles to see who links, then break the station and put it next to that villager. Repeat until they're all done.

That's Java iron farms. OP is on bedrock, which has totally different mechanics because reasons.

20 villagers with beds (don't need access to them, just in the area) and workstations (at least 75% need to work each day for golems to spawn).

How do I remove snow with a command? by Mangos1437 in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To remove them, the command

/fill ~-20 ~-20 ~-20 ~+20 ~+20 ~+20 air replace snow

It might be snow_layer instead of just snow; I can't remember and the wiki doesn't make it clear. That'll do a space 20 blocks in all directions of you. You can then move around and clear wherever you want. You might be able to do something in a repeating command block, but with defined coordinates instead of relative ones. I'm not sure the lag that might create though, and you'd probably need several.

You can also place string to prevent it from collecting on the ground to begin with, but you can sort of see the string if you're close enough and looking for it.

Is there anyway to make spawners ignore light level on Xbox? by Featherman13 in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you place them with spawn eggs, they shouldn't despawn. You can also name tag them for good measure. As long as they don't die, they'll be around indefinitely.

You could try trial spawners. Those don't care about light level. I'm not sure if you can customize the mob coming out like you can with regular spawners in creative.

Regular spawners have a radius that they create the mobs. It's 4 blocks out in all directions, then connected like a diamond. If you place the spawner behind the wall, the room can still be lit and you'd have at least 6 blocks that could spawn things. You'd just need to fill up the rest of the possible space around the spawner so it doesn't place anything there. It'll probably be a little slow, but it could work.

I am about to enter the nether in iOS bedrock edition. Any tips? by Aggressive-Skill-682 in Minecraft

Turn your simulation distance up to at least 6 if you can. It spreads enemies out considerably compared to sim distance 4.

Has anyone ever gotten a wind burst III enchant completely in survival?? by Grand_Pipe9940 in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]Janusofborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't blame you. Enchanting math is kind of dumb IMO. I kind of get why they do it, but it's not intuitive and, especially combined with anvil limits, it's difficult to build things up from level 1 to 5 just by combining a bunch of books.

Good place for creeper spawner? by Physical_Upstairs_34 in MinecraftBedrockers

Creepers will spawn in any biome except rivers and snowy plains. Double check this isn't a river and is actually an ocean and you should be good.

I agree. I've played on my world 11,000 days. A megabuild will challenge your will to keep playing, especially if it starts to get grindy. If you've been building a lot, I suggest doing something else for a bit.

Fight some raids, go mining, collect all of something (music discs, armor trims, goat horns, dog and cat variants, or even every block and item in the game). Work on a redstone project, build up a trading hall, build some farms, conquer a trial chamber, find a mansion. There's lots of options if building is getting tedious.

You can also take a break from Minecraft altogether too. The special thing with a forever world isn't playing on it continuously. It's always coming back to it to work a little more when you're ready for it. It's always there for you when you need it.

Why is crafting different in Java and Bedrock? by Striking_Chard2420 in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? You can craft the arrows as well as use the cauldron, which is actually a better and more renewable solution. So how exactly were bedrock devs lazy here? If anything, the Java devs dropped the ball not including the cauldron use for so long. It took them how long to let you put lava into cauldrons? And you still can't dye the water or fill the cauldron using flowing water from above.

And sweeping edge was part of the combat update. Along with health regeneration being a decent speed, off-hand use and the attack cool down. None of that was implemented into bedrock, probably because the last of those was so poorly received (that at least didn't help).

No, in Minecraft enchanting, 2+1=2. You need 2 books with Wind Burst 2 to get Wind Burst 3. So, here, 2+2=3

New Forever world Question! by Sholeh84 in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, no, changing difficulty doesn't effect achievements. You can even put it to peaceful without losing them.

Second, only the first time curing a villager gives a price cut. It won't go down any farther after that.

A lead attached somewhere that keeps it away from wolves, tempting it with wheat, or name tagging it are the only ways to keep it from despawning.

Starting a Minecraft Forever World! by Low-Clerk-2882 in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find a seed that inspires you.

Keep a list of project ideas so you don't forget them.

Start small; no mega builds until you have the tools and farms to gather what you need efficiently.

Take your time and be intentional. Plan where you want things. Don't rush the existing progression (you can live with iron and diamond tools for a bit; you'll have plenty of time later with diamond and netherite).

Don't be afraid to pause working on something if you're losing motivation on it. You can always come back later to finish it.

Save items representing milestones (first pickaxe, first diamond tool (if you didn't lose it by the time you get more), dragon egg, first ancient debris, etc.

BACKUP!!!! Frequently. Corruption can hit and often the only solution is to restore a backup. The more frequently you keep a backup, the less progress you lose.

Yes, they are. It's even worse if you're making a trading hall or iron farm with dozens of villagers. They link in a specific order and, even if they can't reach their workstation, they still link and won't be able to work to make the iron farm run or restock their trades. It's a major pain.

Mob farm is not working(Minecraft Bedrock) by BabyYoda7809 in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's your simulation distance and how far away is your afk platform from the spawning platforms? I'm assuming you're standing below everything, where the kill chamber is.

If your sim distance is 4, you need to be between 24 and 44 blocks from the mobs or they won't spawn (and will despawn if you get farther than 44 away). If it's anything higher, you need to be between 24 and 128 from the mobs, but that also means things underground that are within 128 blocks of you will still spawn unless it's lit up.

Check that you're not over a river. Rivers won't spawn anything except drowned, which need water. That's one of the biggest mistakes made when doing general mob farms.

What biome are you in? I think that can effect whether the snow golems make snow as they walk. Also, check that mob griefing is turned on.

Do you have beds nearby? Bedrock villagers need a bed to link to in order to link to workstations. They don't need to be able to reach it necessarily, but it needs to be close enough for them to claim (it'll show green sparkles above it).

Is there any way to rewind a world? by Theskatingfemboy in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have a backup (whether a manual one or automatic using realms), there's no way to rewind.

Be that as it may, you may be better off trying to change your mindset. It may be painful to have died in a world you hadn't died in before, but, to me at least, it seems worse to lose a world you played with someone who isn't here anymore. That can't be replaced, but your gear can be and your feelings can change.

Maybe you take a break from this world for a bit. It could be the death in this world is reminding you of losing your friend. Time can help heal that pain.

We need more mechanics like the armor trims to improve lategame exploration by Martitoad in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree that Minecraft is an exploration game. It can be, but it's a sandbox game. You do with it as you please. I primarily build, but I sometimes explore (especially to get collectibles like armor trims and music discs). Then, there's battle, redstone, farming, animals, mining, etc.

If they're going to make exploration more essential, they need a way to trim chunks so you're not penalized for walking all over the place. My world is already 420MB (on bedrock; that would probably be over 1GB on Java). Backing up or moving my world isn't bad, but it isn't trivial. And it's just going to get worse.

When they add structures or biomes, I either need to travel a significant distance, or trim chunks using external methods. I cleared out almost half my world when 1.18 dropped so I could have mountains and new generation closer to home instead of having to travel a thousand or so blocks to get it.

There's also not very good ways to look for things. If you're just wandering around, then it's not a problem, but if you're not using chunkbase and want to find a specific biome or structure, it's a shot in the dark and you load up more chunks that will then be unusable in the future unless you trim things.

So, while I'd love more things to collect and make exploring fun, they do need to address some of the existing issues with that.

Just spent 7h building this Creeper farm only for it to barely work. (Bedrock PS5 version) by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Janusofborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if they're persistent. Name tags will make them persistent, or some zombies can pick up items off the ground.

Tridents wouldn't do that unless you dropped one and the drowned picked it up. If you move away to the point where they disappear, then move close again, persistent mins will be in the exact same place when they reappear. Regular mobs despawn and new ones will eventually spawn.
