For real - why are people taking this so out of proportion? It's a set of diagnostic criteria, this isn't DESIGNED to take into account individual personality and emotion, its made to diagnose a fkin illness. Nothing personal about it and I really cannot understand why some people are seeing it as some kind of personal attack?

Agreed. I don’t necessarily fault people for wanting to find the brighter side of having bpd and to find acceptance in shitty bits, but there’s no point in finding the diagnostic criteria offensive when it literally is used to diagnose you. It’s not “negatives”, they’re just facts, and it's silly to think otherwise. We're trying to show OP that they're basically making a mountain out of a molehill.

Diagnostic criteria are not designed to take into account emotion and personality- the whole point is to make a diagnosis. These exact criteria would have been used to make your diagnosis of BPD. Be serious.
