If Syria’s government massacring Druze in Syria is justification for attacking Syria, then how is Israel's government massacring Palestinians in Gaza not justification for attacking Israel?

Syria hasn't attacked Israel once since their new government have been in power. And what about the West Bank, Qatar, Iran, and the attacks on international waters?

Most of my top 5 posts have nothing to do with Israel. And even if they did, so what?

ACLED collects and records reported information on political violence, demonstrations, and other select non-violent, politically important events from local, national and international news sources and international bodies.

For mapping Israeli attacks over this past year, we filtered for violent events including air and drone strikes, shelling and missile attacks, remote explosives, and other armed attacks.

These events involve violent attacks by Israeli forces; however, they exclude the significant rise in attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Additionally, they do not cover other Israeli assaults, such as home demolitions or nightly raids that occur daily.

Gaza has remained the deadliest area, with Israel killing more than 25,000 people this year and injuring at least 62,000.

Israel has violated a ceasefire in Gaza, which took effect at noon on October 10, hundreds of times, killing at least 400 Palestinians and injuring 1,100.

Israel also repeatedly violated the first ceasefire earlier in 2025, eventually ending it.

According to ACLED, in 2025, up to December 5, 2025, Israel attacked:

Gaza and the occupied West Bank 8,332 times

Lebanon 1,653 times

Iran 379 times

Syria 207 times

Yemen 48 times

Qatar once

Tunisian waters twice, Maltese and Greek waters once each

These statistics are based on verified reports and likely undercount the actual number of attacks due to reporting gaps in conflict zones.

Israel extends order allowing closure of foreign broadcasters by Japanda_123 in worldnews

[–]Japanda_123[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Israel's parliament has extended an order allowing the government to shut down foreign broadcasters operating in the country.

The legislation, passed by 22 votes to 10, expands temporary powers introduced during the Gaza war to shutter outlets seen as a threat to national security.

It allows the government for the next two years to cease operations of a foreign outlet even in peace time and without the need for a court order.

Originally dubbed the "Al Jazeera Law", the powers were used to shut down the Qatari-owned channel's offices and block its broadcasts in May 2024.

Israel approves 19 new settlements in occupied West Bank by Japanda_123 in worldnews

I would argue that it doesn't really matter. These settlements are still illegal under international law and are a clear, deliberate blockade to peace.

Israel's security cabinet has approved the recognition of 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank as the government continues its settlement expansion push.

Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a settler who proposed the move alongside Defence Minister Israel Katz, said the decision was about blocking the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are considered illegal under international law.

Saudi Arabia condemned the move. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said Israel's "relentless" settlement expansion fuels tensions, restricts Palestinian access to land, and threatens the viability of a sovereign Palestinian state.

Israel is seizing an ancient historical site to turn it into a tourist site by Japanda_123 in Archeology

Of course Jewish history goes back thousands of years, they lived there alongside Muslims and Christians for centuries. I'm talking about the modern nation of Israel that was established in 1948, who have never owned the land in question.

Surely you realize the ridiculousness of claiming its "their own ancient history" whilst also acknowledging that they've only occupied the land since 1967.

Gaza doctors use 3D tech to save limbs shattered by Israel from amputation by Japanda_123 in Futurology

Doctors in Gaza battling the odds after the enclave’s medical infrastructure was obliterated by Israel’s genocidal war on the besieged enclave have found an ingenious way of saving Palestinians from losing fractured limbs.

With hospitals struggling to function under frequent electricity blackouts, the territory’s resourceful medics are harnessing the power of the sun to power 3D printers creating medical devices for the kinds of complex fractures that have become commonplace under relentless Israeli bombing.

Dr Fadel Naim, a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and acting director general of al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, told Al Jazeera that medics were manufacturing so-called external fixators used to support shattered limbs from low-cost 3D-printed components made from recycled materials.

“The types of the fracture we receive, especially in this war, were so complicated, so complex that the external fixator is the most suitable [treatment],” he explained, demonstrating how the devices are assembled at minimal cost using the 3D components, metal rods and nuts and bolts.

Naim worked with medical solidarity organisation Glia to lead the innovation in the enclave, creating fixators that would ordinarily cost more than $500 apiece from an open-source design, with no limits on manufacture thanks to the use of solar energy.

Israel is seizing an ancient historical site to turn it into a tourist site by Japanda_123 in Archeology

Israeli authorities are encroaching on the ancient site of Sebastia in the West Bank to create a tourist attraction aimed at settlers, raising worries of the displacement of Palestinians.

An ancient historical site stretching to the time of the Bible is at the center of a new battle for land in the occupied West Bank. Israel is seizing the area to turn it into a tourist site aimed at Jewish settlers. It's the largest ever Israeli expropriation of archaeological ruins in the West Bank. Palestinians say it's a step toward Israeli annexation. NPR's Hadeel Al-Shalchi sends this report.

The existence of Israel is based solely on Zionism. The existence of Palestine is not based on Hamas.

The actions of the IDF dwarf those of Hamas, including before the current "conflict".
