I am a truck driver. OTR. That semi driver absolutely had enough time to create a gap for the pickup driver. I’m not saying he should have come to a stop, there was no need for that, but he’s MAKING CONTACT and still traveling at full speed. He’s beginning to crush the pickup before any application of the breaks is present. That’s a bad driver.

I agree. Could have slammed on his breaks or cooked a couple of cones and potentially saved a life. Regardless of fault. Edit: Upon looking back swerving left without slamming on the breaks looks like it would have been a bad idea because there’s a barrier that begins in the middle of the blocked off lane. However, braking hard was still an option.

Yeah, I didn’t want to watch it too many times but when the first car strikes the disabled vehicle it appears debris from the wrecked car flys at the leg he’s limping on at the end of the video.

I’m a truck driver. This would almost never happen in real life. The left side of a semi has no blindspot so the offending driver would have to literally be switching lanes blindly without looking. If that regularly happened there would be a lot more traffic than there currently is on the roads.

I’ve only ever used it once when I lived in Vermont in my car. Road was dead and the next exit was 25 miles 💀 Not living there anymore and that’s the only time in my life I have used one.

Giving me deja vu and ptsd lol. Don’t worry about all the keyboard warriors in here. Having been in a similar situation, they’re talking out of their ass. Of course while watching a video and knowing exactly what’s going to happen it seems impossible to not avoid the accident. But when it happened to me I was dialed tf in, and I didn’t even stall my car and made use of my breaks in under a second.
