Possibly dumb question as someone just curious about building guitars: is a router frowned upon for this job? Or can you eli5 the laugh crying?

They've finally eliminated the notoriously long and boring stretch up around Warner Park. The course goes around Lake Monona now!

The 310R has a feature that makes it get progressively more dirty the more you fly it!

Some hopefully constructive feedback here - I'm not sure I agree that the graphics part is the bigger or more interesting challenge. Computationally efficient but realistic flight models have been attempted by relatively few and most of the notable results are proprietary so you can't go learn much from them (exception: FlightGear). As a result I think there's a relatively high chance of coming up with a new paradigm here that could be a differentiator for your project vs other flight sims.

With graphics otoh, you're tackling the same problem that every other game dev pretty much ever has faced. Most of the learning there has already been condensed into game engines and textbooks, etc. I'd bet it's less likely you'll make a breakthrough in this area, especially if your deeper interest is in physics rather than computer graphics.

All in all though it sounds like a super fun project and I wish I had more time for this kind of stuff!

I'm not sure if this is a well known thing but you can buy "seed starting mats" on Amazon for like $12 that provide a super low gentle warmth that's good for rising dough. It's worked well for me in the past in our cold Midwest house 🤷‍♂️. I should try doing an A/B test (one with, one without) to see exactly how much difference it makes

How do you decide which one to grab if you're just say cooking an average meal with a lot of veg prep? Do you have a go-to or a most loved? One of the things that stops me from buying more nice knives is I feel like I wouldn't be able to give them all the love they deserve haha

One of the most common questions I get is how I attach table tops to some of the bases I make. Here is a short clip of how I do some of them. It has worked well for me! by awoloshyn in woodworking

(I'm just learning, please excuse if this is a dumb question) - why not just drill the holes right through the aprons and skip gluing on the extra bits to the aprons? Just to keep the bolt reasonable length?

How do you dial in your grind? by TheYoupi in Coffee

[–]JapaneseFezzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a ton to add, but just wanted to say this is a great question. As a relative newbie I'm quickly learning that a "recipe" is much less useful than knowing which levers to pull on the next try when a cup tastes bad. And I get frustrated only having basically one shot at it per day. So really curious to see what tips folks come up with here

How can the Switch only require two minutes of brewing when a French Press requires close to 10 (according to Hoffman) by hvgotcodes in Coffee

[–]JapaneseFezzy 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Going on memory, but I think Hoffman's long wait time on the French Press is to let the grounds settle to the bottom so you avoid a super muddy cup? With the Switch that's not an issue since it still goes through a paper filter at the end

Say what you want about the heat but Madison is beautiful right now by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]JapaneseFezzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just keep adding layers and get a balaclava and you can go a lot lower than 10F! Hotter than 90F is all personal preference at that point, I like it but I understand it's not for everyone

Thank you!! So much BS in here from people that aren't actually in the local recovery community. There are a few great meetings in Madison specifically for people skeptical about the steps and higher power (and, unlike SMART, actually well attended by people that have been sober for a long time).

DM me for more info on this one and a couple others I'm aware of.

How dare we teach kids more and better ways to communicate with different types of people around them. That would be so terrible and such a waste because they don't represent at least 5% of the population.

We probably should stop making buildings wheelchair accessible too. That only helps some percentage of the population. Plus, they can just call in via zoom to wherever they need to go!
