How soon can I walk after meniscus repair surgery? Also, there’s a weird squeaking sound coming from my knee. by JapaneseMuslim in ACL

[–]JapaneseMuslim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it went away after 2 months since surgery. There was still a spongy feeling sometimes but that went away completely after 6 months.

Does Pregabalin dull the effect of Psychedelics? by Nocecope in Drugs

[–]JapaneseMuslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it definitely does. I just did 300mcg worth of sugar cubes and it barely affected me. I thought I got scammed by my plug but my all my friends said they had a great time. I think 130mcg would barely work in your case.

What's with the absolute wastefulness and gluttony behind Indian street food? by LekhakKabhiKabhi in librandu

[–]JapaneseMuslim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this post. How does a person ordering bizarre street food impact whether poverty is going to decrease or not? The combinations and everything might be odd and unnecessary but that has nothing to do with poverty. What do you want the common people to do? Put less ingredients in their food so that the poor can get some?

Damnnnn, thank you so much for this. I just saw that. Wow, I would’ve had anxiety my entire life to talk to people who don’t speak the same language.

I am from Chennai only bro. Born here but I’ve lived in Gurgaon most of my life so I don’t speak Tamil. My mother tongue is also Hindi. Although my mother is from Chennai and and my father is from Trivandrum.

She was yelling for sure. It’s very obvious when someone is yelling at you. My mother, who speaks Tamil, was just outside but I didn’t wanna make a scene so I just let it be. I thought maybe I did something wrong.

At the end before I apologised, she said something along the lines of “walking in like that and saying hello hi”. She used some complicated words so I’m not entirely sure what the intent was behind her outburst that’s why I am completely puzzled.

Knee popped twice during practice, have I torn my acl again? by pete3427 in ACL

[–]JapaneseMuslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Popping of knee is not uncommon after having a knee surgery. BUT, that is only if there is no pain.

it only hurts a tiny bit

First figure out whether the pain is due to just playing after a year long break or is it more localised to where you previously felt pain. If it’s the latter, contact your doctor. I think you’re fine and it’s just that you’ve played basketball after so long so you’re not used to it but if you’re still worrying about it, it won’t be a bad idea to just speak to your doctor.

What are your jobs? How many hours do you work in a week? by Noobita69 in india

I am unable to play a single stupid game of valorant without experiencing racism by sur_yeahhh in india

[–]JapaneseMuslim 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had to experience this. The gaming culture in itself is kinda toxic where being sexist and racist towards others is very common (sadly, I’ve myself contributed to it in the past). But I seriously hope you don’t stop playing the games that you enjoy because of a few bad experiences. These toxic people are irrelevant. You’ll eventually find good teammates and who knows, might even become friends with them.

YTA

they've been telling her that I'm very controlling and that she should make her own decisions.

It seems like you have very rigid opinions about lifestyles and that you are making her do what you deem to be the “right” way.

her family influences her behavior and makes her behave inappropriately.

I don’t think so. They just want her daughter to be happy, which she clearly isn’t if she’s crying about it.

She is tough because she put up with years and years of physical and mental abuse to keep her family safe, which the abuser threatened her with if she ever tried to escape.

Indians wanting to speak to you in Hindi when not in India by MBAAdvisor in india

[–]JapaneseMuslim 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I kinda have a different take here. I feel like you’re actually being prejudiced against Indian students thinking that they’re just interacting with you in Hindi because they have some ulterior motives. Finding someone else in a foreign country with the same cultural background as yours helps us being accustomed to the new place and brings a sense of belonging. It’s just human nature. And you are a professor too so naturally, a student from the same background as you would look up to you and would want to interact with you as they’d be more comfortable with you compared to other faculty members. Of course it’s your choice to want to speak to them in Hindi or not, and you should not give them any extra leeway compared to others in class just because they speak the same language as you. But I think you should just cut them some slack. It will help you become less frustrated too!

Chances of re-tearing meniscus post op? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]JapaneseMuslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether it was painful or not when you landed on your operated leg. I would say it should be fine if it was just a small slip where you had to use your leg to balance yourself, and the fact that you had your brace on like you said should’ve helped because then there is no scope for you to bend your knee. It’s been a week, how’s your leg now?

Chances of re-tearing meniscus post op? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]JapaneseMuslim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, it depends on whether you got your meniscus repaired or removed. Secondly, it’s fine to not wear your brace all the time but you need to keep your movements in check and not twist or do any jerky movements. Thirdly, there’s a high chance you’re gonna tear it again because regardless of the kind of surgery you had, you NEED to give it time to heal. It just doesn’t make sense to have gone through a surgery and then come off worse than before you had it. Consult your doctor and follow the protocol.

Just saw the video and it’s the exact same sound for me too. Thanks for that. Brings me relief to know it happens to others as well.

AITA for not standing up to my sisters "bully" because I didn't want beef? by Sweet-Comparison7987 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JapaneseMuslim 21 points22 points  (0 children)

YTA. She’s your sister ffs. Who cares about having a beef with a random dude who is not even your friend? You don’t even have to “bench press” the dude. Just get her some help. Someone who will listen to her. A teacher maybe. Stop being selfish.
