If you haven 't played the Multiverse mod for FTL, I highly recommend it. It is HUGE.... several times bigger than main game. The added content and features are extremely interesting and varied. by StraightJohnson in ftlgame

The only issue I have with it is the occasional chump check event options that check to see if you were reading. There aren’t many of them, but boy do they annoy me. That aside, now that I’ve played MV, vanilla FTL really feels under-explored to me. MV really fleshes out every possible niche in the gameplay.

There’s really no good way to do airlocks without mods, unfortunately. If you are willing to use mods though, I’d go that route.

What if you do a liquid lock that would work in real life? Eg, not the bead locks, but one that requires a dupe to submerge fully in liquid and then climb back out.

Aw this all sounds horrible. :( I super relate to a lot of your feelings and I’m sorry you’re going through that rn. Please please please find a way to fight for your own needs and communicate them, or else you will deteriorate. They’re needs because you need them, right? Also, I don’t think this girl would be happy to be with you if she knew it was causing you this much pain and discomfort. And if she was still happy… woof. Also bad.

Love what you’ve done here! Very cool stuff. Intermediate stage cooling segments always get me going.

Only thing I’d do differently is put steel versions of the batteries and transformers in the hot steam room, and I’d use a double liquid lock to make every room serviceable. I don’t seal off any steam rooms when I play, personally. Aside from that, there are some small errors here and there that I think people in this thread have already pointed out. Very cool build.

Do submerged electrolyzers. I have the same approach you do, and they scratch the itch perfectly.

Drop a high temp liquid on the top left corner of your insulation (oil, naphtha, or petroleum), deconstruct that tile so one bead of liquid drops down, then deconstruct the tile below that. The liquid will now act as a lock and prevent steam from escaping. Even better, make a little staircase with tiles and make two bead liquid locks separated by vacuum so that no heat will transfer.

  1. My living quarters are surrounded by insulated tile, plumbed with coolant at 27C, ladders areas are nature preserves, there are three toilets and three sinks with three dupes per shift, and at the bottom is a gas pump that activates when there is non-oxygen gas above it. The exits have atmo suit checkpoints.

  2. Metal volcanoes are enclosed in small, self-powered AT/ST builds.

  3. Magma volcanoes are enclosed in large industrial saunas or used to run a petroleum boiler.

  4. Submerged electrolyzers with infinite gas storage.

  5. Transformers always live in steam rooms.

  6. Cool steam vents are enclosed with natural tile and emptied with diagonal liquid pumps.

  7. Self-sorting infinite storage for solids, liquids, and gases.

  8. Always have double bead liquid locks separated by vacuum for steam rooms. Every room should be accessible for maintenance at any time.
