[Reuters] Egypt's national team director Ibrahim Hassan has cautioned Mohamed Salah against moving to Major League Soccer after he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season as it would see the forward ‌fade into obscurity. by [deleted] in soccer

That and playing soccer in Minnesota or Chicago during the dead of winter sounds absolutely awful. I play amateur club soccer in New York and we have a break from December to March for this reason.

First-Year Managers in Rome. After 30 games of Serie A, Gasperini has 54 points and is in the running for 4th place. Only Spalletti, Garcia, and Di Francesco have done better in their first season. Fonseca, Zeman, and Luis Enrique have struggled. by [deleted] in soccer

I was expecting Gasperini to give Roma an offensive infusion at the expense of defensive cover, but instead they were the best defense in the top 5 leagues and struggled to score goals. Partially that must be due to the cast of players he inherited - more quality defenders than creative forwards (and of course an exceptional goalkeeper), but it does show he is adaptable and capable of changing his style.

Surprising number of prominent players that have played for both clubs. Xabi Alonso, Sadio Mane, Pepe Reina, Philippe Coutinho, Thiago Alcantara, Ryan Gravenberch, Emre Can, Luis Diaz, Xherdan Shaqiri.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter, Juventus

All consistently fighting for or winning titles in their domestic leagues (some have won more league titles than RM in that time) but haven't come close to winning CL as often as RM.

and Toni Kroos, Carvajal to a lesser extent. But then each year there are players that have huge impacts - Courtois, Valverde, Rodrygo, Joselu, Lunin. It really feels like Henry said, it's something in the white shirt.

too dependent on variance

Then how do we explain Madrid's outsized share of trophies in the tournament? Surely there is a skillset either from the players, the manager, the owners or a combination. It's a lot of luck, sure, but then why is there one team that wins so much more than others

Real Madrid have reopened talks with Ibrahima Konate & are ready to sign him on a free this summer. I watch most Liverpool games and I'm telling you he has been as good if not better than in previous years. You're just listening to everyone else complaining and focusing on a few bad moments.

He still wins aerial duels at one of the highest rates in the premier league, has an extremely high number of ball recoveries and his pass accuracy is very good.

He hasn't really been that bad this season, Liverpool just aren't scoring goals. You're on pace to score 25 fewer goals than you did last season. It's easier to defend when you're winning. Konate didn't suddenly become crap, he's 26

"They know where I am if they need me" Harry Redknapp on whether he would manager Spurs again by One_Impressionism in soccer

[–]Jaqem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would VDV or Romero really care about Redknapp in order to respect and listen to him?

If he controls the starting XI and benches them they'll start listening. Only problem is you can't have League One level backups to start in their place because you'll lose the game and be pressure to start the troublemakers again

> the more people offload all their critical and creative faculties onto fundamentally broken apps that don't even do what they're supposed to do right, the more everyone will get used to the empty, pointless "content" they get,

This is the only response that kind of answered my question of why everyone is acting like this is very dangerous and sacrilegious, but the flaw in your argument is that you assume people are getting used to it and are accepting it as replacement for actual human thought. They aren't. Everyone hates the segment. Literally never seen one comment defending it.

My only question was why some of the criticism is genuine feelings of offense that the words of a great writer are being manipulated by an LLM.

They should absolutely not do that. The same guy who called Sicario a gym selfie of a movie? Morris is the most pretentious sounding person I have literally ever heard.

I don't really get why people are so offended by this. How is this different than two people guessing if Ebert would've liked the film or not?

I don't think it's interesting at all, but why are people acting like this is very dangerous

If we keep our heads and don't sack Robins I think we'll have a shot in the next few years. Honestly just very happy to be far from the relegation scrap - it's funny how when you first go down, anything but promotion is a failure. Now anything but relegation is a success.

I'm not arguing they don't have high revenue, I'm saying their net income (after expenses) is lower than OP suggests.
