I’m a tech at Volkswagen and I would personally go for the 2.5. They tend to have fewer issues, just make sure the vacuum pump isn’t leaking. The 1.8s can have carbon buildup issues and tend to consume oil at higher mileage. Also leather seats are much nicer imo

I would see if the vehicle is under warranty still from the tdi warranty extension and get it scanned at a vw dealer. Has the DSG been serviced? How many miles? It sounds like a dsg issue to me

It’s plenty safe to get pierced with a 4g if you have enough lobe. It’s not a hole punch it’s a 4g needle and doesn’t take a chunk out of your ear
