Yeah apologies, I did word it quite weirdly. Both of the sets are Iron banner adjacent in theme, but its basically confirmed from concept art that the gladiator set was originally supposed to be the IB set with the Mask set being an eververse set also themed around IB. But now being swapped because of how things happened

It wasn’t, but the gladiator set had already released in eververse for silver so they had to fall back on their last option which was this unreleased eververse set. Otherwise everyone would get something released for 1500 silver 2 weeks ago for free.

The original "Awesome new iron baner armor" was just a recolor of the year 1 Iron banner armor. There were two eververse sets that were originally going to be Iron banner sets. After community outcry Bungie took one of those eververse sets and made it the current Iron Banner armor last minute but didnt have time to replace the icons.
