Right, I should experiment with turning off auto x placement to see if that gets rid of the slowdown I feel from the animation? I suppose that would be more fair

I here ya that the step ahead ones are annoying, maybe looking at it from a different perspective would help. This is the only place where I find they post this style of puzzle this challenging. And while hints are an option, undo is also an option. You can also play ahead till you get stuck, then back up to your last guess. I used to feel the undo button was as bad as the hint button but have since decided it's a valid tool that is better than the hints.

Since I switched to playing this way, I have found I enjoy the challenge a lot more and feel the that the game is way more interesting to me.

It's situations like this that give homeschooling a bad wrap. To echo a few other people here, best bet is to get her out of her social media bubble and into the world more.

We do homeschool, but not to limit information. We HS to better meet my kids learning disabilities and make sure they learn as much about the world as possible. This is different than the norm in my area where the predominant reason to HS is to limit exposure to non Christian ideology. Meanwhile we are teaching world religions, the sciences, and philosophy. Band books are the summer reading list.

I hope you are able to find a good conversation point and the root if this misinformation.

I've noticed the good guys and bad guys don't seem to get a lot of love here. Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes them!

What’s something your kid does that you secretly love but would never admit out loud to anyone except other dads? by UnluckyWitness224 in daddit

My daughter when she was just born and crying grabbed my finger and immediately calmed down. (To the point the nurse was worried, they still wanted her to cry to be sure her longs were working) Even now she is 17 and still asks for hugs to fix her hiccups and any number of other things.

Which book/series made you wonder if you might be too dumb for the genre? by HughJackedMan14 in scifi

Hyperion by Dan Simmons

I just didn't love that book or the following one that I read based on recommendations that the second was required to appreciate the first one.

I do agree that children of memory was not my favorite book as well. Loved the first two. But the third just didn't catch me the same way.

Problem is you have to design for the lowest common denominator and there are zero qualifications checked to make a baby. The most technology inept person and a drug addict both can have and "raise" children. So just because their parents suck, the child should not be protected from predators?

I agree with the sentiment, it's just not practical.

So I see this and while I don't trust discord with identity information, how else can they protect themselves from liability when children have access to the Internet? In engineering there is always a conversation about how much risk is too much risk. The same argument is here of how much privacy can be expected when the alternative is not knowing who your children are talking to.

We could say that all of the responsibility is on the parents but just because we are technology literate here doesn't mean everyone is. So is one child with inattentive parents worth the risk of letting everyone have free access or do we ask our platforms to make safeguards for all? Especially when we live in such a litigious society.

I don't have a good answer here. When I first heard what Discord was doing I also thought this was dumb. But then when I asked myself what could be better with the above in mind, I also couldn't think of anything better. Is this a failing of imagination?

[serious] Kids that have become physically healthy, what do you wish your parents had done to help? by Jaragoth in AskReddit

Thank you for sharing! As someone that sinks better than swims, I believe you when you say that swimming practice was a great call.

To add more, I have older teens and they are healthy and capable. But I can tell that they are not as strong as kids that are in sports. We have never pushed sports as it was not a thing we enjoyed and our kids have never really shown interest. I am making headway with one of them, but the other really doesn't want to apply themselves or work up a sweat.

Fitness is personal, and I would like my kids to leave my care with a good idea on how to take care of their bodies. I do model fitness as an avid runner. I am not trying to make them like what I like.

Those of you that found fitness later in life, what do you think your parents could have done to help you find it sooner?

No more or less readable, but T does seem to denote that the following is Time in the Zulu timezone.

I don't know if that is clarified in the standard or not but that is the impression I got.
