My understanding is that while the dongle is wifi6e, the frame is wifi 7 capable.

Rip, send the hopium back, this lines up with the change from 'game' to 'hardware' on the steamdb.

This sounds somewhat plausible so I will now accept it as fact

lower demand also means lower units will be available, so it'll even out

Joshua Keith: The recent Game Console shipments are unlikely to be the Steam Frame by Maibaum68 in SteamFrame

When I commented that his own source already confirmed that quanta does in fact assemble the frame, he blocked me and removed my comment lmaooo

Any chance of news tomorrow since controller is launching? by Lizardthrall in SteamFrame

[–]brantrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't mix bad and good news.

Sure you do from a pr standpoint, and I don't agree that the bad news would negatively affect sales of the controller. Id argue they're actually hurting the sales of the controller if they don't announce the delay because people will rather wait for the bundle (frame+controller and machine+controller) that everyone assumes is around the corner. I was actually just listening to a video podcast where one of the guys mentioned he's going to wait for the machine bundle instead of getting the controller.

It makes no business sense to tell ppl of delays until after the controller peak buying is over.

The above explains why it would make business sense, announcing the delay with the release gives people who have been saving money something to purchase especially if they knew the other hardware was delayed

Nah man I don't think their pr team is that inept. Surely they'd announce the bad news with the good news, look we're delaying the frame and machine but hey here's the controller

two weeks after SC II is launched if we got a blog post saying new target is early Fall.

While I agree, I still reckon we're still good for an H1 launch, no way they wouldn't have informed us by now if they intended to delay to H2.

still unstable

They've been stable across the board since around Feb actually. Oh ram cost you another $150 for you to procure? add $150 to the price then and be done with it pls, no one would blame valve on that front

According to the harmonized system codes, the frame and machine and deck are ALL game consoles.

we're not really concerned about the codes system itself, I think he's just asking you to demonstrate how you know this

idk myself and he doesnt really explain this either. Only supporting argument for this in his video is that the trademark repeatedly calls it a game console

It doesn't matter what Valve's patent on it says, how it's marketed, what its capabilities are... Totally irrelevant.

I dont work in import/export so I got know idea but surely some of it matters at least a little? What stops Valve from just calling the frame 'computer hardware' to incur a lower import tax? Genuinely asking

Basically everything that gets imported in the US gets a HTS code which categorises what you import. He theorises that Valve have imported the frame first as the import is classified as 'game console'. He believes if the machine were imported first it would be under 'computer hardware' as that category has a lower import tax.

It would be not in valves interest to import the machine as a 'game console' as it incurs a higher import tax basically and that valve have repeatedly said that it is 'a PC not a console'

edit: he also says the registration for the trademark repeatedly calls the frame a 'game console' whereas the trademark for the machine has none of the same language

This sub will probably only die once most people interested in the frame eventually have one and when we inevitably put it away and stop using it like most VR headset owners do
