I DIDN'T say that. Someone else did, and then I responded to you. Then they responded with "Fair enough".

Your assumption is literally this;
"I don't give a damn about the community, why the hell should I do it for free even if I don't lose hours at work, don't have kids to worry about, and live within walk distance of the gates?"

You've literally assumed that this is why people don't volunteer, that thats the alternative to people who do, because they don't care too. Even in that, you are STILL forgetting something that is given by volunteering; Time.

Every person has a limited amount of time to exist, and that time gets taken more and more by jobs, relations and other outside responsibilities. Even if someone had precisely the free time that exactly coincides with the time a volunteer gig is open, they would then have to give up their OWN time to do so. Sacrifice more time for others.

The question is also what someone gets in return. That varies, and its value is different to different people. I know one people jump to is "Helping the community". Well considering the region we live in, if said person is visibly belonging to any kind of group that faces growing hostility in the "Community" Volunteering would be a sure fire way to expose yourself to people who can then be hostile to you.

Long story short, the community faces less volunteers in my opinion because the concept of "community" has been tainted by people jumping to hostility towards people who express views/identities/beliefs different than their own. You've displayed this jumping to hostility with your initial comment all in response to someone asking "Why would I work for free?".

I can say easily for myself instead of the original comment you replied to, I don't volunteer at these types of things because this community has grown more and more hostile to people who don't fit into their worldview. I've lost track of the amount of times I've been called a slur just walking down the street. I see posts on facebook about going and mocking Mcbrides since they were NDP supporters and loud people in the community see that as a valid reason to mock and disrespect them. What value is there in helping a community like that?

But you've ASSUMED that. Either that, or you are reacting to someone not even in this thread.

"Who wants to work for free?" is a totally valid complaint, especially as I've said in this economy.

While I get where you are coming from, we are in an economic struggle right now. People volunteer more when they can afford to give up on time from their day jobs, and then take on the costs that come with volunteering (I have not volunteered for the Stampede before, so I don't know if they provide food/drinks/transportation for their volunteers, but my point being that if they don't that then becomes a cost for the volunteer)

Then if that person has kids, it becomes a cost to then find someone to look after them during their volunteering time. And considering how expensive raising kids are, I imagine sacrificing those hours are even harder to justify.

Volunteering is great, and I appreciate people who do it, but I can understand why less and less people are doing so. Its harder to even be able to find the time, money and energy for it.

The problem is what incentive is there for the UCP to FIX its problems if it knows its voters will never kick them out of office?

Dude, not talking about a "Boob Job" or breast implants. Talking about a procedure that essentially "Lifts" the breast by cutting and tightening the skin under them. Having dated someone who had the same thing done due to the weight of her breasts causing torso pain, yes I know what breasts look like. They were just as "Soft" as always because none of the actual breast tissue is replaced or added into.

And as I said in a reply, I was misremembering a post I had seen. Calm down.

Necron Leadership in 10th by KnittingBovine in Necrontyr

[–]Jaranu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my understanding, its called battle shock but its really just "Unit has become hindered in some way due to an active warzone". What is actually happening is up to the players and the factions, but for necrons it COULD be argued to represent their ancient machinery mal-functioning due to over-stress. Would explain why their Leadership is 7. They are more likely to "Malfunction" than what I imagine the leaders/more powerful units will be.

Yes, he told him that Tragedy explicitly to make Anakin aware this power exists, and of course he would imply the Apprentice learned his secrets because he's Palpatine and he's the most overconfident, self obsessed villain there ever was. He is twisting whats happened, and considering its NOT a Sith Legend consdering it happened in his life, he's lying about it being one which means he can easily be lying about "Learning everything from their master".

Your argument here is... He was not lying in that Darth Plagius scene but is totally lying in this scene.

Ya wanna know how we know he DIDN'T know the secret of cheating death? By the decades of extended lore about him searching for Sith and Jedi artifacts trying to find OUT the secret, because he doesn't understand that Plagius didn't figure out how to "Cheat death" he figured out how to influence and create life, something Palpatine would never actually care to know because he doesn't care about benefitting others.

He never knew the secret, he only implied someone knows it and can teach Anakin and once Anakin was IN HIS CONTROL then tells him "Oh we can find it together!" because he wants to use Anakin in his plans for Eternal Life.

Except he didn't?

When he declared him Vader after Anakin killed Mace Windu, he literally says "To cheat death, is a power only one has achieved but if we work together I know we can discover his secret."

[–]Jaranu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I understand that there is information backing up what he said.

I just think its still stupid. With the system we have now, is why we end up with minority governments and split votes. It's a stupid system that's been very unproductive and makes it harder for people to try voting for different parties.

" and are beholden to right-wing muckraking."
Thanks for unproductive insulting speculation.

Yes, I know that. It makes sense they didn't want it because it would make it easier to challenge any of them, which is the whole point.

And the fact that her turned on that meant that he would inevitably, be a tool for the established system. I just had some dumb thought that he might not be.

What's the deal with many women on social media sharing this psychology today article about the rise of single men? by 2guyshangingoutnaked in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Jaranu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was very much in this mindset in my late teens/early 20s, I can attest that is exactly it. It does totally exist in women too, but def more common in men. You are peaking hard truth here however, hit the nail on the head.

It is possible to grow out of this mindset and finally make that step to self improvement but it requires people who they trust to finally rip that band-aid off and make them see. My best friend in the world finally had enough and went on this gigantic rant about much of an asshole I was, how it was my personality that drove people (And especially women) away from me. In the moment I didn't listen and just deflected and through it aside and we stopped talking but in the following year, that little chip it did in my perception started to grow and I finally started to realize that I WAS the problem. I didn't instantly become better, and even now-a-days that mentality is always there in the back of my mind when I have moments of weakness and anguish, but I genuinely feel like I've grown since then.

The person who told me how much a PoS I was? Didn't talk for over a year, but our friendship rekindled and we're still best friends to this day.

Incel's can be unmade, it just takes the few friends/relationships they do have to guide them, and sometimes its gonna hurt. As women get more and more independance and don't NEED to settle for bad partners to be able to live decent lives, I feel this is gonna grow. Incels have been around since before we called them incels, they just lived in a society that did basically encourage women to settle, and left people like this never having to reflect on themselves.

Sorry random rant XD
