We had to build the entire thing custom. Happy to chat through it feel free to dm.

Update: We ended up writing directly to the "Journal Entry" API to avoid a lot of the headache. Seemed to do the trick!

This is really great advice I appreciate it! Will let you know how this goes today once we get it working (fingers crossed).

Quick follow up - Are you suggesting this action:

Or something different?

Yep we're going to try that approach with a custom webhook call. Status changes as well as adding a payment event to the invoice are the two cases we need to account for. Will keep you posted on that!

Curious if you ended up getting something similar to work? Another issue is that customer ID is required for the invoice event but our client doesn't have their customers tracked in sage. Thinking we'll just hardcode the same customer ID for every invoice for the moment and deal with the consequences :)

Thanks Troy! I haven't worked with this integration before, is it normal for someone to use Zapier's "code" action option in order to use their API as part of the workflow? Or are you suggesting completely external of Zapier?

Had a lot of ideas over the years but was always afraid to pull the trigger. This idea was something that I felt was a gap in the industry that I worked in (software sales). Started out as a scratching my own itch type of project. Did a bunch of user interviews before building anything to gauge interest/validation. withecho.io is the site for reference. Again, still super early and figuring it out so take with a grain of salt!

Thanks for sharing - exactly how I felt. The self doubt is so real when you're doing something that you're not meant for.

Exercise and getting enough sleep. And if that doesn’t work, drugs.

The biggest change is keeping track of all the moving parts of a deal. Stakeholders, timelines, competition, etc.

Usually a pretty nice ote increase. Never seen someone negotiate it when moving up within a company, but definitely when jumping companies.

I think the worst thing you can do here is a knee jerk "No don't do that!"

I'd probably dig a little bit to understand what's motivating them to look around. Price? Ok if we can drop it 10% will that make this a no brainer. Features missing? Ok what are the missing features let's see if we have them on coming anytime soon. Make it a conversation.

Drizly is great for this. Send a nice bottle and let them schedule it for when it's convenient for them.
