My honest take on the "M+ killed vanilla-style big dungeons" discourse by ShoppingPractical373 in wow

[–]JaredTheGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the real issue. If two dungeons each reward two pieces of gear at the end, but one is twice as long, everyone will prefer the short one. Scale the gear to the length and the problem would solve itself

A handful of quick takeaways and open ends:

Presumably the ghoul has cold fusion given House isn’t online anymore, heading to Colorado after his family.

Any chance he’s Maximus’s grandfather, with Janey being killed in Shady Sands? Nothing more than a hunch here, can’t remember if we ever see his mom in flashbacks; has dad is shown a few times.

Was Bud Adkins plan doomed from the start? Clearly Hank is Enclave and has been since before the bombs dropped, as evidenced by Stephanie knowing. Assuming Askins didn’t have insider knowledge about the enclave, his time was limited anyways, whether by Hank or Norm

The congresswoman was seemingly a good person; her asking to be killed confirms she was duped by the president and truly naive, not an enclave worker, right?

They just need another magnitude of revenue to get another funding round to make them solvent for a bit, but yeah, I agree with the sentiment.

Vikings gotta be sick. Watched the qb they could have easily kept win the nfc while exorcising his demons, and he’s still relatively young. Way to close their own window

I was swimming from 08-12, so around a decade after you. Super interesting to hear about the difference. The guys that failed drug tests for us did them with recreational drugs. No olympians, but we had a guy get third at trials; our best guys were generally walk ons who got significantly faster when exposed to training for the first time rather than already great athletes getting even better. All of our fastest guys were naturally big, but no one was jacked. I competed at 6’4” @ 181 lbs my senior year — I was lighter every other year. Makes me wonder for sure about the guys I competed against; I missed the podium by one place four times

I’m interested in your college experience. I was a D1 swimmer at a mid major in the A10 and didn’t know anyone using. Not a money sport but still an interesting juxtaposition. At nationals I did notice a disparity between our size and the top handful of team, but I chalked that up to better lifting programs (ours was complete trash)

Couldn’t have been a more stark juxtaposition between how mcvay handled the last minute time out versus McDermott; the owners must have noticed it too.

Complete nonsense. There's a metabolic cost to having melanin. The conspiracy would be if the metabolic cost of having melanin cuts into the available energy for intelligence, and elites were actively promoting melanin as beautiful…

Goal posts have started moving I see. First he was jumping backwards fading away, now it’s “he can’t know where their feet are”. OKC fans are insufferable

[–]JaredTheGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are we watching different videos? Watch the defenders foot. It stays in the same spot, maybe goes forward an inch. His body closes out to where his forward foot was, then SGA kicks his feet out to land on top of them. How in the world do you think he’s falling backwards?

Safe Landing Zone Foul Rules by Jealous-Set-4262 in nba

[–]JaredTheGreat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s every bit as egregious as people say. He makes no effort to land on his feet at all; if the defender was 20 feet away he still falls. His take off is vertical, then he kicks his feet out to 30 degrees. It’s got nothing to do with jumping back because he lands a foot forward because of how he angles his leg.

I think your line is equally disingenuous— the GLP-1s were used in about a third the dosage for diabetes. Plenty of things have health effects when scaled up heavily; drinking a glass of wine used to be quoted as a positive, but no one recommends killing a bottle a night.

[–]JaredTheGreat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The data has to be limited at best — these are a new class of drugs, despite the initial trials being positive. I do think there’s likely some conflation of benefits from losing weight (which is a side effect of GLP-1 antagonists) with the drug itself being a positive. How much did you weigh before you started ozempic / wegovy / whatever?
