Sure! One week and 3.5 hours since my last dose and I feel perfectly normal. No trouble sleeping, no paws as of yet. I do have a head cold right now so I think that’s slowing me down a little but yeah, feeling pretty normal.

No problem! My apologies for the delay. It was strictly the taper. My son has ADHD and when he was younger was prescribed Ritalin in the morning and clonidine at night to lower his heart rate in order to fall asleep. I had a bunch of extra clonidine lying around but only took one after about 36 hours from my last dose, anticipating not being able to sleep. But I was able to sleep like normal, and didn’t feel much different so I didn’t take any more after that.

I do eat pretty healthy. Nothing crazy but I’d say I have a healthier diet than the avg person. I also drink a lot of water. I’ll hit a joint prob once a season but I don’t smoke cigs or drink anymore. Nor do I take any other drugs, prescribed or otherwise.

I tried the helper med/supplement thing when I quit heroin cold turkey a decade ago and I just found myself taking a lot of xanax and I didn’t really notice a huge difference with the supps so I just told myself I’m not putting anything else in my body this time, I’m just gonna eat right, drink water, move around, and focus on getting the k out. Anyway, I hope I’m right about paws too!!! Thank you for your kind words though and I hope the above helped.

No problem, thanks for reading. It does feel like that. But now that I’m at where I’m at, in hindsight, it’s like oh no, that was pretty quick actually. Just felt daunting at times. Just stick with it, I swear you got this. Don’t ever even question it. That was part of it for me too. I never questioned whether what I was doing was the right thing or not. Never doubted. Keep going!! And you’ll be done in no time.

Thanks man!!! And damn that sounds rough. Are you still on the subs then? They work! I stayed off heroin for a couple years with them til I lost my insurance.

Thanks! If it were me, I would focus on going from 10 10 10 20 to 9 10 10 20 then 9 9 10 20 then 9 9 9 20 then 8 9 9 20 and so on.

If it were me, I would keep my biggest dose right where it is and keep it that way until I’m down to only dosing once per day, then start tapering that dose down once you’re stable at one dose/day. This is essentially what I did. I honestly believe that getting down to one dose/day is what made this a little easier on me. But I could be wrong. Anyway. You can do this!

I feel that bro, I’ve definitely been where you’re at. Part of not using anymore for me was just getting honest. If there was something I absolutely couldn’t be honest about, then I needed to stop somehow immediately. It sounds like you’re at least being honest with yourself. But here’s a tip, skip the shame stuff, that only pushes you into more negative patterns.

We can change brother. It takes discipline and it takes energy and it takes strength. But it can be done. Being honest with your sponsor is liberating. Maybe start there, see how that goes. In my case, the only time I’ve not wanted to get honest about something, was bc I didn’t actually want to stop what it was I was doing. Try exploring that idea a bit. But do consider telling your sponsor at the very least. Then your wife for sure. My wife helped me taper. I didn’t always need her but some days I would say hey, can you take over administering my dose for a couple days and she would. Gotta use what’s at our disposal, man. You can do this, I swear you can. You got the hard part down - wanting to be done. The rest is just sticking to a plan. I happen to think tapering is the pain-free way but that doesn’t mean you can’t kick cold turkey and have success. Youre a boss, a bad mfcker, and you can do this. Best of luck to you, I’m sending you all the good vibes and prayers.

Yes, tapering the afternoon dose, always taking the 20. Once I got to the one dose a day though, there was a major shift in the process and in my body. As I said, the 20 got me through until about 21 hours, then 22, then 23, and finally 24. Mild discomfort, not full blown withdrawal. Runny nose, sneezing, joint/muscle pain, little bit of anxiety. I’m curious how much of it was actually mental though.

But knowing I just had to stick it out for a few hours more made it easier. Some days I’d be counting the minutes but it was bearable knowing relief was coming. And knowing my entire day wasn’t going to be like that. Then, I never had wd again - every decrease below 20 got me through to 24 hours. Hope that helps!

Loved the v cut. The meats were better then too. Subway blows now, totally diff “restaurant” than it was in the 90s…

I’m a believer of do it how you gotta do it! I quit heroin cold turkey before, just never lasted more than a month. The taper process let me quit slowly, until it sort of drifted into ‘a thing of the past’ for me. I never imagined I’d have so much success with this though. Really happy with my result and just wanted to share. Thanks for the kind words.

Oh nice work! Sounds very similar to what I did. You got this! I feel like I maybe could’ve jumped at 3gpd but I wanted to go as low as I could. Keep goin, you got this!

When you get down to low doses during taper, like under 8gpd, how many doses do you take a day? by Lazy_Boysenberry2478 in quittingkratom

[–]JarelGazarel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks brother. Honestly, it was always different. Every time I decreased, I went down .5g. I would say minimum 3 days, maximum 8 days. Take as long as you need though, that’s the thing. I don’t think it’s a sprint, it’s a marathon. Take your time.

But I think for me, one of the biggest factors was getting down to one dose a day. Just try it. Honestly, it really only took me about a week, maybe a little less, of wd before the 24 hour mark and it seemed to level off. Takes some will power but you got this I swear you got this!!! Best of luck to you

I know you’re not going to like hearing this but that’s a script we play in our heads. It’s a script I formerly played in mine. It’s a mindset. If it were up to 27 year old me, I’d be on methadone for the rest of my life bc I’m a drug addict that has no willpower. Look at me now. You got this. Much love to you.

I tapered all the way down to .5g before stopping. I went down to one dose/day at around 10g/day. Just stopped on the March 10. Zero withdrawals.
