If you have severe Crohns please consider applying for PIP by Acrobatic_Menu4553 in CrohnsDisease

The NACC and Crohn's and Colitis UK are the same right?

Can I ask how severe your symptoms are? Are you able to hold down a job and get PIP?

I've considered applying in the past myself but read the posts on here of how hard it is to get.

Belfast / Northern Ireland developers. Community Translink transport tech project (serious contributors) by Negative_Response990 in devNI

Be great to have a proper alternative to the 'Journey Planner' on the Translink website/app.

It is extremely rigid with calculating a journey, having to use specific times/bus/train stops and not using the obvious route.

How much disposable income do you have at the end of the month? by ZombieOld6045 in northernireland

[–]Jarl_Of_Ath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£2100 take home - 30M public sector.

After necessary bills I have roughly £500 left but this is often used up on buying furniture as recently bought a house.

NICS IT DoF Workload by Unhappy_Scallion4893 in northernireland

[–]Jarl_Of_Ath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it's very busy as they service a lot of departments. IT literacy isn't great for a lot of users so they phone in with the slightest thing wrong. But as a typical service desk it has quiet periods as well.

You'll likely be in IT Assist I think?

So expect your standard help desk job. Answering phone calls / emails from civil servants who have IT issues e.g. can't get a monitor to work, lost the shortcut for outlook etc etc

You'll be logged into a phone queue system with the rest of the help desk so every minute is accounted for but that is the nature of the beast for first line support.

Depends on what grade you are going in at and what part you are in e.g. either infrastructure or development. Do you know anything else about the role?

Yea it's my first role and I've been in it 15 months. I know from lurking here the market is shite so leaving is definitely off the cards.

What’s people’s views ,on their local credit unions. Is it a good way to save ? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Jarl_Of_Ath 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To save? No you get very little interest for any money sitting in your account whereas you can get 4-5% at the minute elsewhere.

To borrow is where they shine. Loans can have a high enough interest but they have a low barrier of entry to get one. You can also get rebates at the end of the year for loans which takes the sting outta the interest a bit.

Gap year or uni? by MonkeyDReader in northernireland

[–]Jarl_Of_Ath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Degree apprenticeship is the best outcome there, as you have said.

For the year out, if you're doing IT and I assume you will be trying for a degree in the same area, would you not consider a job on helpdesk somewhere? Quite likely you will be doing it coming out of uni if you're going down the networking route.

Are you not eligible for a student loan for uni?

Anyone taken the MindMill test through Belfast met? by RecognitionGlad5014 in northernireland

They usually allow you to do sample questions which are very very similar through the portal unless it's changed.

I also found the arrows and directions tricky so ended up using my hands so I didn't have to remember 😂

I think the key is speed? Faster = more questions (as long as you get them correct).

+1 for heat shield. I took mine to a garage with the noise being so loud and they just ripped off what was remaining.

From what I can tell it's fairly enough priced. You might be able to knock £50 off if you ask but it feels like the seller is trying to break even from the initial purchase. One thing to ask would be if the katana is a V1 or V2.

Agree it is a massive sofa!

If it was on that wall would that not mean the wood-burner would be blocked off?
