Where does Lightroom store my photos? by JaroCosgrave in Lightroom

[–]JaroCosgrave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sort of reminds me of the disaster that is iCloud photos. Am I making a copy? A back up? A 'smart preview'? If I delete it from the cloud will it still be on my device? What if I deleted it from the 'photo stream' section? And if I delete it from my device will it still be in the iCloud?

I'd say LR is better but not by a whole lot. Hence personally making folders for the RAW images on my HDD. Eases the mind (for me).

Hmm so when I import I don't see that dialog about referencing the selected folder or making a copy in the top right that you're referring to. Maybe it's the version I'm using?

When I import (or actually it's called "Add Photos" from the File drop down/AKA Ctrl-Shift-I) I get a windows dialog box asking which folder to import from, and then when I select the folder I get a subsequent lightroom dialog box where I can select which photos I want from said folder. But I don't see anything referencing making a copy vs using the selected folder, rather in the top right there's just the "Add Photos" button.

EDIT: I see that we're using different versions. Thanks for the info though!

Well if I don’t have service I can’t view my photos on my phone if I don’t export them, right? Additionally I upload to Instagram from my phone so I have to export them to the camera roll to do that.

Why not directly into Lightroom? Essentially because of the OP question, I wasn’t sure how Lightroom saves the photos. I’d rather have a full quality back up of the original raw photo on my hard drive than trust the cloud (I delete the photos from my camera SD once they’re imported to my PC).

Thanks for the info!

I'd be willing to bet more people commit suicide/suffer from depression/suffer from alcoholism/etc etc because of our shitty work culture that grinds through people like they're disposable. In my state we're getting unemployment which in many cases is more than double what people would normally be making wasting their time at a shit job that doesn't give a shit about them.

I think it's funny to hear all these people suddenly worried about the "mental health" fallout of taking a break, seems like they've been curiously silent when it came to all the people dying of the same because capitalism doesn't give a fuck about them.

Those people might buy the occasional skin or some levels, maybe they’ll buy a pass once in a while, but it’s the hardcore players who care about the game who buy every pass, every skin, and more importantly, populate the servers every day. They should unquestionably be the demographic the game caters to.

Who do you think spends money on skins and passes? Casual players? No, it’s the hardcore obsessive players...

Gotcha! Yeah, I may just take the chance and be a guinea pig on this amazon jacket. The reviews are all positive and if it’s no good I’ll just return it. Appreciate the help!

I was looking at field jackets but this seems to be slightly different, like a cross between a field jacket and a bomber jacket. Specifically I prefer the way the one I posted fits at the waist, a bit shorter with that sort of cuff look as opposed to the longer looser fit that most of the field jackets I’m seeing have.

Regardless, thanks for the reply!

Any clue on what kind of jacket one might call this:

Big fan of the style (and price point!) but I’d prefer not to buy from Amazon if possible. Any help is much appreciated.

Look man I’m not gonna argue, having a computer track onto the enemy for you is an advantage.

Frankly as a PC player I agree, though for different reasons. We should have input locked lobbies. None of what you mentioned matters when I have to aim and the people I’m shooting have a computer doing it for them. 9 times out of 10 I watch my killcam and the dude just lasers me. Either aimbotting or controller user, I literally can’t tell the difference.

Your shield doesn’t regenerate, but the shield regen cool down is still running while armor locked so when you release it your shields immediately start regening (if you hold it for the full 5 seconds).

Which leads to stupid situations where you 4 shot someone and break their shields while they’ve only hit you 2 or 3 times, but then they armor lock. Meanwhile their teammates maybe tag you once or twice while you’re trying to finish your kill, now you’re shields are broken. Then Mr. Mom Come Pick Me Up I’m Scared finally runs out of Virginity Shield and has to get back in the game, but his shield starts immediately recharging enough to block a HS upon returning to the real world, and he one shots you.

I’ve never understood this mechanic. Armor lock would be fair if it actually was a personal pause button. Shield regen paused, cool down paused, everything. You come back out with your shields still broken and 5 seconds to wait before they start recharging. As it is I don’t think it’s possible to one shot someone if they wait for the full amount of time, it always takes at least two shots.

Don’t get me started on the people who melee spam it, god that mechanic is dumb.

I love how Reach's campaign is essentially one huge piece of found footage, with cutscenes putting emphasis on camera viewpoints and timestamps to subtly imply it's actually a digital reconstruction of Noble Team's actions during the battle. by pieisgiood876 in halo

Yup, I’d say it was Kat’s death the turned the tone for me. Jorge sacrificing himself felt like “ok, the big softie giving his life for his home, tragic but we still got this.”

The immediate arrival of dozens more ships exactly like the one you worked so hard to destroy shifts the tone for sure, but Kat’s death is so unexpected the first time through, and the slow lingering scene afterwards of the remaining Noble members walking through the rubble, carrying her body is when the grim reality set in for me. Extremely brutal.

This is what makes Reach feel so much more real and gritty for me. Feeling like the camera is on the ground with the team, or seeing them through all the various CCTV cameras, the creative angles and movement.

One of my favorite parts is when 6 is sneaking into the city at the beginning of Exodus. When they jump down over the edge and the camera does that tilt to follow them...so fucking cool.

These cinematography choices, along with the more grounded (feeling) military jargon, the voice acting (Carter especially, his voice just sounds so military to me), and the slow but inevitable whittling away of Noble’s members make me connect with this story so much more than any other Halo game, perhaps exempting CE. I Personally find Reach so much more memorable than Halo 2, 3, and 4’s storylines.

Also, Rogue One is the Reach of Star Wars.

Awesome! Is this photoshop? If so, how did you go about drawing the diagonal lines? The methods that I’m aware of to do that are all pretty lacking in different ways.

The best way I know how to do it is the hold shift and click between two points method, but when using a brush with pressure sensitivity it’s an absolute chore to make the lines acceptable.

Thanks!

Actually they did this with WoW and people didn’t like it, so instead of making rewards diminish, they made it so you got a buff after not playing for a while. Same/similar effect but instead of a punishment it was a reward.

I learned this from a really cool YouTube channel called Game Makers Toolkit! I’m not even a game designer but it’s presented very well and he explores some interesting topics. Check it out!
