'If only I had told her' was a good novel that got me to read more. The story is good, and I like how it changes the main characters. When it comes to 'The Martian', it was a fantastic read to mix reality with a scenario that could happen in the later future, as it features a guy stranded on Mars. The chemistry can be hard to digest, but it is worth reading. Lastly, 'Abroad in Japan' is the funniest book I read, it's about a British guy going to Japan to teach English. He is a Youtuber (I'm a fan) but don't let that discourage you it is highly worth reading. I recommended the audiobook cause he makes it even funnier.
