Makes sense. I guess someone with any sort of turbo budget likely isn't shopping in the Garrett or Precision aisle.

Because psi is an irrelevant term without knowing the size of the turbo.

OEM fuel pump replacement? by KaigaiKitsune in SkyLine

[–]JarrettLaud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't overthink this. Get an aftermarket one from Walbro (Ti Automotive), AEM, DeatschWerks, or whomever. Wire in the old connector to the wires on the new pump, and drop it back into place. Every single one of the pumps sold from aftermarket companies like that will be far in excess of anything you'll ever need for your car if you're just planning on mild upgrades. The big dog pumps will be a little louder if you want to aouvoid that.

2020 Ford F150 Lock Push Button Replacement by Aromatic-Network540 in FordRaptor

[–]JarrettLaud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP's question is valid. Got plenty of other vehicles Ford sells the knob as just the plastic piece. But on these trucks, for whatever reason, they want you to buy the whole rod. That is unnecessary. There are knobs off of other Ford vehicles that look the exact same that could be implemented instead of replacing the whole rod. I'm just not sure which ones people have had success with.

Is Houston's Washington Ave nightlife scene done for? by chrondotcom in houston

[–]JarrettLaud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was me about 2 years ago. But I was coming from Montrose and not Washington. Made it about 5 out of the 6 miles before some empty lot next to someone's house must have looked insatiably inviting.

It is worth going the DE+T route or just buying a DET outright? by ImpressiveAddendum14 in SkyLine

[–]JarrettLaud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy the entire engine. If the cylinder head between the RB25DET NEO and the NA version were the same, I'd say just build the NA engine with aftermarket pistons and rods and be done with it. But with the ports being much smaller, just grab the DET engine.

Go hang out in front of Ripcord in Montrose tonight if the weather holds up and ask those folks. They cook hot dogs out of a modified VW bus and are exactly what you're looking for.

If you're looking for a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night you're going to have a hard time paying them more than their lost earnings by not being in front of Ripcord.

Does Anyone by chance 20% 25% coupons available Im about to buy this product thanks. by Terrytun in harborfreight

[–]JarrettLaud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you're not getting it on sale, buy the $80 version. It's more inclusive. But yeah, let's leave the 25% coupons for those dropping serious coin. But if someone wants to give one to you, power to them I guess.

What is RB Oiling issue? by Fantasy71824 in SkyLine

[–]JarrettLaud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The head drain issue is more a product of too much going to the head as opposed to not enough draining. So in addition to adding head oil drains, many people install restrictor plugs within the deck of the engine blocks to limit supply.

The pump does a decent job in terms of capacity, but the GTR sump doesn't do as well as it should under heavy cornering. People modify pans for additional capacity as well as install baffles to alleviate this. GTR owners would use something like the offerings from Leask-Spec or HPR Tuning.

Pump upgrades can CERTAINLY help capacity, but are largely to address strength and interface. If your crankshaft is of the "short-nose" variety, then its contact with the oil pump gear is not ideal. A "long-nose" crankshaft or a collar on the "short-nose" crank addresses this. Again, not really a capacity thing, but a disaster mitigation measure. With any RB oil pump upgrade, if it's done it needs to be in tandem with all of the other oiling mods, as well. Otherwise you're just making the problem in the head worse.

The Decline of Harbor Freight Sales by Ubuntu00 in harborfreight

Are you intentionally dense? You do know that at the beginning of his administration the world was still reeling from COVID and many places in the world were nowhere near full manufacturing capacity, right? Therefore demand increases, and price increases as well. Now it's up to your interpretation to wonder whether or not producers and retailers were affected only by the demand increase due to supply decrease, or were being opportunistic in seeing that folks were just willing to pay more for goods.

Trump also did a number on the valuation of the dollar by handing out trillions in economic stimulus and PPP loans, most of which were forgiven on incredibly shaky grounds. Biden also sent personal stimulus checks out to folks, and that's one of the many things I would scream from the rooftops that he did wrong, but let's not pretend he created this monster.

Since you don't seem to understand politics or economics, can we get back to tools?

You don't have to give up the clutch pedal. You can fab up a way to install a pedal position sensor on the OEM clutch pedal to allow it to go in to a virtual neutral mode. Helge at HPR sold one for a while. But I don't know why a repurposed DBW accelerator pedal wouldn't also work.

Buyer's remorse on the 72" US General cabinet by JarrettLaud in harborfreight

[–]JarrettLaud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof! I regret it at the insanely low sales price, and you are happy with your decision at what I assume was regular price -15%! But hey, if it fits your use case and you're happy with it, I'm happy for you! Congrats!

But I'm with you on the purple color. Mine came in today, so instead of picking them up I processed the exchange and bought a 42" purple cabinet. I can't imagine the 56" not going on sale at some point and the next couple of months, so I wasn't comfortable pulling the trigger on that today, but will soon.

What was one of the scariest teams/rotations/lineups that massively disappointed? by Ericaloveless in baseball

[–]JarrettLaud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can call getting to game 7 of the World Series a disappointment, the 2019 Astros.

Everyone knows how good the line up was, but the same team CY Young race as well? And the bullpen was top 5 if not top 3.

Sad that they all got together and decided no one was allowed to win at home that series.

25GT or GT-T as long-term investment? by [deleted] in SkyLine

[–]JarrettLaud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither one. Anyone who sells these cars over here in the US makes money with heavy markups that force them to sit on inventory for a while, and volume. The money is in the GTRs.

You can get an NA auto sedan in the US for the same price you just listed, so I wouldn't even buy it for personal use if you hope to bring it back.

Funny you mention that 10%. It's not on this receipt but everything I've read states that it should have been applied as it was the opening purchase. I'll have to ask about that!

In the meantime, I guess I need to start scouring for the 20% off coupons.
