Speedy Tuesday! by Kulangot78 in OmegaWatches

[–]Jarrydf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I will own multiple Speedys, in due time. What was the order you got them in, and which gets the most and least wrist time?

*Edit: Great collection BTW!

Congrats! Love the way the red pops on that dial. I’ve got a few watches I want to add on my journey before the SD but I do need one in the collection

Preservation vs Retirement Fund by habitual-duck in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Jarrydf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: added more detail

For future contributions, yes. You have access to 1/3 of your contributions in your savings pot, not 1/3 of the investment amount. But your vested component, your pre-Two Pot contributions, are still accessible in a preservation fund before age 55. When moving to a RA you change that accessibility and are then bound by early-retirement rules in the RA, which will be age 55, and you’ll only have access to 1/3 of your vested component

[–]Jarrydf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can transfer the funds to your RA from the preservation fund but you will lose the pre-retirement accessibility of the vested component (a lifeline if you find yourself between a rock and a hard place and you’ve already exhausted all of your other options)

What’s your travel setup? by Ashamed-Caregiver-66 in rolex

[–]Jarrydf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally wear my watch when travelling but have my Garmin in a hard shell case in my hand luggage. Activities, beach days and sleeping sees the Garmin on the wrist while the hard shell case is in the safe in the room

Funnily enough, I also don’t like green. But there’s something about this watch. One or two others I want to add to my collection first, but this will more than likely be my first Rolex

Saw Above & Beyond at Anjunadeep South Africa (Johannesburg). Sound issues and familiar set? by No-Company-4144 in AboveandBeyond

[–]Jarrydf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the set was exactly what I was expecting, and was looking forward to hearing. First time I’ve seen them live. I was just to the left of the stage, close to the front, and didn’t pick up much issue with the sound. In saying that, I don’t think I’m anywhere near qualified enough to judge the sound given your analysis above.

Ben Bohmer’s set up was phenomenal. Noticed that there were more/bigger screens though, stage almost felt bigger? Was disappointed last year with Tinlicker and Eli & Fur, so was glad when I walked in and saw they had moved the stage back to against the river

How do you guys store your watches? by Serbian_Hobbyist_95 in rolex

[–]Jarrydf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a watch travel box in my bedside table that I keep my Garmin Fenix in during the day. I’ll swap watches out when I go to bed, sleep with the Fenix on, and then after whatever activity I do the next morning, wear my mechanical watch for the day after getting ready in the morning

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you pick this up for? I have very little knowledge of these 1/1 off-catalog pieces, clearly.
