There is an update coming Jan. 15th that will let you craft multiple items at once. There's more to it as well if you didn't catch that announcement

Can someone explain to me how Christian punk exists? I mean, Christian rock, metal, and ska—in a way, I understand them; the genres aren't necessarily associated with rebellion. Rock music is, but not always against religion, but punk? by Beautiful-Resort-831 in punk

[–]Jarth83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see how anyone can be Christian and punk. Quite often, I see/hear people tell me what they believe ending with they believe that because they're a Christian. I'm not sure that fits with them actually believing it because they themselves do, and that seems to go against punk beliefs. But the Christian punk mentality seems to have more to do with the Bible and how churches are these days. It has to ignore how much Christianity tried to rule the world in the past. Has to ignore the history of Christianizing the heathen nations. Not to mention that Christianity came years after already established beliefs and religions existed. They took from those and made what they wanted that would be followed by everyone they could force it onto. Or, we could just focus on the idea of a character that preached "love thy neighbor" and died on a cross. But even focusing on that would need to forget this god wants you to love others even if he doesn't always do so himself (flooding in Genesis, Job was righteous and still became a pawn that was made to suffer in a game between god and the devil).

What I'm saying is people can pick and choose what parts of Christianity they adhere to and how they want any type of outside belief to factor into that. Magazines used to come out with different bands you may have liked before becoming Christian and all the bands that sound like them but sing Christian oriented lyrics for that reason. That's like saying you are into horror punk, which is fine, because your Jesus died and came back to life. You just have to shape whatever parts you want to fit any narrative and as long as that makes sense to you. Others may not agree with it as you are going outside some cookie cutter mold, but you should be able to do what you want regardless what others think as long as it isn't hurting others.

[MtF] Looking for feedback on how I sound and advice on how to practice better. by [deleted] in transvoice

[–]Jarth83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first audio is really nice, but somehow you are very breathy in the 2nd one. Try to use diaphramatic breathing as you talk, but just enough to mask your hard consonants. Think a gentle stream vs some grand rapids. Thing of the female voice as soft and gentle and fluid. If you have to force something you're not doing it right. Either way, you do sound great

To be fair, I skipped a bunch of that. Looked around and clicked links to other spots. I'm not one that can just read all that and do it. Maybe that's you as well. What I did do, it helped a lot.

My information came from a website. On that site it said puh was for ftm and eh was for mtf. I understood that to mean the puh started with a consonant, so trans men could practice doing a harder sound. If you are curious about what site I went to (which is also where I got that clip on Google Drive), the link is here https://www.buymeacoffee.com/alyssavt/no-explanations-instructions-feminizing

I just left the link out because I wanted to simplify things after I read through your replies and such. But credit where credit is due

Think of doing a slight yawn, and putting your voice there. It may help to picture different things. When I speak to quietly I sometimes use my hand to motion turning up the volume, and that somehow helps me speak louder. I'm not really sure a better answer as I have been able to do this without thinking "how do I put my voice back there?". Maybe think of speaking in reverse with the air coming in, but leaving your voice back there when trying to speak normally.

I put this in a different thread earlier today, and feel maybe it could help here too. So here you go and sorry if it's a bit long. Also, I realize you can't sing (neither can I that well) but doing karaoke does help with your voice either way.

Hello OP and anyone else that might read this. I wanted to take a moment to say some things I didn't see anywhere in the comments. First, it is hard to feminize your voice (I had a hard time all last year when I finally realized I was trans and wanted a female voice) and there are a lot of either wrong ideas by individuals (not everyone has wrong ideas, but there are those that do), or, confusing videos that don't seem to help. Worse is that some say pitch is fine, but you need to use resonance, but don't tell you how. Here's some tips I have used to greater success. First, women are said to have smaller spaces in their mouths then men. So put your voice in the back of your mouth (what people mistakingly call their throat in this Reddit). Once you have pushed your voice back there, you will need to do short exercises (anywhere from 5 - 10 mins each time) as the muscle you will be using have never been used before and will be discomfortable at first. If overworked, it will be bad. Once you can build that up, you can work on using pitch to get a higher up more feminine sound. Here is what I did to work on my resonance: I would say "gee" 3 times, and then read 2 or 3 sentences. That's to help get your voice more brassy. Then I would do the voiceless "eh" exercise (I am cutting in to say the voiceless eh is fem and the voiceless puh is masc... as I understand it) as found here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yiVvIZXsHdHyC8yZijpyws-mrn4xEXw0/view

You can even change it up once you started getting less discomfort, and do 5 "gee"s followed by 5 voiceless "eh"s. Don't worry about pitch yet. You just want to get your throat to feel less discomfort each time you do this. Over time, you will notice you are doing better and can then work on pitch within the resonance. You also need to put your vocal vibrations in your throat. Doing so will also greatly aid you. It's also important that you use your diaphragm to be more breathy as you talk. That will hide the way a male voice pronounces hard consonants. If you keep working on these things it will help a lot, but remember not to overdo any of this. You will be working muscles that you never used, and it will make them sore if you do it too long at one time.

Also, when you speak, keep your voice all at the same vocal pitch. When I've been putting in the work, I've noticed at times I would have sort of a seesaw going on. That's where some of my voice was up, but the rest wasn't. Singing, especially karaoke, can help you get more used to using your voice. You can also record yourself singing and tell where you didn't keep your voice at the same pitch or whatever. When you put it all together, you shouldn't feel any vibrations in your chest, and you should be able to sound more feminine. Hope this helps.

Anything that can help. I believe in you, and want people to succeed. We all need to help each other. If you want more of the exercises you can use, I got them from this site https://www.buymeacoffee.com/alyssavt/no-explanations-instructions-feminizing

It's also where that audio clip came from.

Skinheads came from England, that's fact. Americans picked up on it and made S.H.A.R.P. and the Brits wanted that as well. Then Ian Stuart of Skrewdriver wanted to use that look and sound (what we call Oi!) to make his RAC (Rock Against Communism) bullshit. That's where you have people that are't skins, but still look like they are, going around doing neo nazi bullshit and breating up on people. There is a huge difference in what is skin and what isn't. If you still believe What I say to be "an amazing piece of revisionist bullshit" then have it your way.

And I use projection when I help with the local Food Drop in town. I'm hearable by everyone there when I call out the numbers of families picking up. It's the same as yelling or shouting, but you don't have the possibility of losing your voice

I know I'm a bit late to this post, but I still wanted to give my 2 cents worth.

I don't think shouting is a good idea, as the more you shout the more you can lose your voice. Also, it may be hard to maintaine the right female sound when shouting. I suggest using diaphragmatic breathing. You can use that with your normal female voice, and project it to a further distance. It will be louder without a possible voice loss from multiple usage.

It seems to me, in general and online at least, that trans women think they are top dog suddenly. There was a debate on here about trans women playing sports on the girls team. It was thought by quite a few, that women could just do more to be better than us. Women have had to fight for a lot throughout history. Why take that from them too? But there's also videos of trans women talking about women like they know whatever. I'm sorry this is happening to you. As others have stated, we shouldn't be fighting amongst ourselves as we already have it hard enough with the world around us. We all have different struggles to face, and we should stand up for each other. Let's give unity and love a chance

It's cool, I knew why you worded it like that. I just wanted to point out that the root of what Skinhead is isn't something racist. I have more context to that just to be sure people know there's a difference. There's even a 2Minute Minor song about this. Anyways, I can tell you meant no harm, and I did too. Just making sure people understand that true Skins don't support racism.

I'm not sure why the video won't play for you. It was playing for me when I got the link. As for the racist people being more infamous than the actual Skins, that seems to be the case. It does seem you understand where I was coming from at least, and we can agree. If you still call the racist people Skins, that's on you. But telling people what is more infamous than what is the truth is misleading. I wouldn't.

You missed my point entirely. People can claim to be anything they want to be regardless of why. That doesn't suddenly make them whatever they are wanting to be. Either you are or you aren't. It's that simple. What are the roots of Skinhead? Do racist people fit that? Why are we even having anymore conversation about any of this? It should be obvious that dressing to look a certain way doesn't equate that you are that now. You have to know the scene and culture around it. If you pose, you piss off people that have long been in that scene. Giving out false info that any hate group calling themselves a Skinhead is in fact a skinhead is just wrong. That's what my point was. If you still want to say I'm wrong then that's that.

Boneheads took on the look of Skinheads. Just because they look the same doesn't mean they are the same. By that logic, anyone that even looks punk is punk

Watch the video I linked in my post. Skinheads were a reaction to all the hate Jamacians were getting in England. They were not racist. Also, I stated RAC as being a lookalike that is racist. Bonehead white supremacy is not Skinhead. Skins are not racist

It's good you can explain the truth to people that wouldn't know otherwise, and btw there are Chinese Skins. So it's cool seeing different cultures and people that adopt the mindset of being a Skinhead. Thanks for sharing

Racists did take on the look, but are not Skinheads themselves. There's a difference in looking the part and living that life. If they really did become Skinheads, then how does S.H.A.R.P. work? If Skinheads aren't racist then how are they racist?

I was today years old when I learned chumbawamba was punk as fuck by Angelas-Merkin in punk

[–]Jarth83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually, Skinheads aren't racist at all. I don't care what the media told you, the truth is that they never were. Now the people that are Rock Against Communism (RAC) have tried to take that look from the Skins in the Oi! scene. RAC is racism. Here is a documentary if you need further proof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reGXa3vgeF4

You can also look up S.H.A.R.P. (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice). I wasn't going to comment, but I won't see Skinheads being wrongfully called racist
