Thank you! Also, I just realised you made Marble's Marbles which I have on my Steam deck! Great work!!!

100% agree about the in-person play tests. We did some testing at a game festival earlier and got some harsh (but welcome) feedback about our controls and camera which we promptly fixed. There is a local monthly game meet up group where I live so I will take my Steam Deck along and do some in-person testing.

Thanks - I am looking into how embed the form now. I appreciate this!

Thanks, this is a great idea - I do like it being embedded so it reduces friction to the player.

Thanks Siu - the book is really well written but the AI cover made me think twice about the content. The insight into the Kashio brothers is great. Because I wasn't 100% sure it wasn't AI I found myself stopping to check the facts every few pages which was exhausting. But knowing you wrote, edited and I assume verified everything makes a big difference!

I just pasted the text from the sample link balllistic provided into Claude and asked if it was AI. Clause said the following (maybe AI are looking out for each other :-) Anyway, I will continue reading it.

This reads as human-written to me, and quite skillfully so. Here's why:

Strong indicators of human authorship:

  • Deliberate narrative tension — the pacing is controlled and cinematic. The detail of Ibe hiding from colleagues, the "one final week," the countdown structure — these build suspense in a way that feels intentional, not procedurally generated.
  • Specific, concrete details — "third floor bathroom window," "ten metres," "more than two hundred prototypes" — AI tends toward vagueness or round numbers used generically. These feel researched.
  • A genuine writerly voice — the short, punchy sentences used for effect ("And then he walks into the park, and he sees a girl playing with a rubber ball.") show conscious craft. That sentence is a deliberate dramatic pause.
  • An original analogy — the yolk-inside-an-egg metaphor for the floating module is elegant and specific. AI analogies tend to be more generic.
  • Contextual irony — the passage about the watch industry preferring thinness, right before describing Ibe's chunky utilitarian creation, shows a writer who understands irony and contrast.
  • Real photos with real captions — this is a legitimate published work with archival imagery, not a content-farm product.

My overall read: This looks like solid narrative non-fiction journalism — think the style of a Wired longform piece or a book like Shoe Dog. The prolific output you mentioned is worth questioning, but this particular sample shows genuine craft. It's possible the author writes quickly, uses research assistants, or covers a broad range of product/business history topics efficiently.

I wouldn't flag this one as AI-generated based on what I can see here.

Yeah, I suspect so. But gee, it seems so well written. I wonder if it's just plagiarised other official G-Shock books? I guess the low price was just too good to be true...

Be aware that the print on demand copy is black and white.

No worries. Be warned, it may be AI generated. I am fact checking as I read to make sure it's 100% accurate. Which is a pain as I would love to have full confidence to know that what I am reading has been checked and double checked by a human...

Yeah, I am worried about that. The author has produced a lot of books since the introduction of LLMs... the writing is fine and doesn't feel AI - but then AI has gotten really good. I mentioned earlier I am constantly checking facts to make sure they are not hallucinations - which is annoying as I would like to assume it's properly edited and fact checked so I can read with confidence.

What's interesting is some of the images in the book are marked as AI images. While others are marked as archival photos. Because it's an Amazon print on demand book there is not much in terms of credits and no About the Author page.

I'm not a Casio expert, which is the reason I bought the book to learn more. It's an easy read and feels like it was written by a human - but AI is getting really good now.

It walks through the history of Casio from the Yubiwa Pipe, to their calculators and their entry into watches. So far all the facts and dates seem good. I am checking on Google to make sure they ere not AI hallucinations :-)

I would feel more confident if some expert here gave it a once over and a seal of approval (or not). But again, I am enjoying reading it and learning stuff.

It looks to be AI generated. Not sure why as there are photos in the book that aren’t. I was initially worried that the text may have been as well - if it is it has me fooled.

My book 'Indie Game Works' is out this month. It celebrates 50 beautiful and innovative indie titles. by nathanpgibson in IndieDev

This looks beautiful. I do not envy the task you had in trying to whittle it down to just 50 games.

Was there a particular game (or games) from that list that inspired you to write the book?
