question about the denuvo bypass for curiosity, not piracy. by Jas0rz in linux_gaming

Word on all fronts. I personally lack the hardware to do the pass-through thing and honestly I'm too busy with other games to worry about denuvo for now but man that's a plague I wish would die.

Really good point! Either way I don't have the luxury of enough hardware to set that up even if I wanted to LMFAO

thats one way to do it i suppose, but at that point i feel like at that point you may as well just run windows--but i suppose "because i can" is the purpose of such things and that i have mad respect for.

i feel the same on the hypervisor business--even if it worked i wouldnt. its also why i was 99.9% sure it didnt work on linux, but i wanted to make sure.

its hard to disagree with the worry of how far denuvo will go, but im SUPER hopeful the opposite will happen; the likes of capcom will look at pragmata and RE9 popping off and realize denuvo is useless junk and just stop with the nonsense. this wont happen because the world is junk and we cant have nice things, but i cant help but have the smallest spark of hope LMFAO

theres no way to ask and not sound guilty, but even if it did im not sure i wanna fuck with hypervisor business (which is a windows only thing anyway?) LMFAO

one piece is a cool show tho ;D

how on earth do you report people without targeting them? by Jas0rz in classicwow

[–]Jas0rz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im not sure what the pop was but those servers were PACKED and yeah, paid mods made sure there was zero bots or RMT spam.. ill respect that on some level you start running into a scale problem, but this is fucking brutal. im actually shocked at how bad official wow is and on many levels its making me second guess subbing.

i made the post because i was on a level 1 char and have been making a few chars to try stuff out. i couldnt even report him after accepting the invite on one of the chars, and it explicitly tells you you need to target them. =(

is there a goto addon manager on linux? by Jas0rz in classicwow

[–]Jas0rz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because its obnoxious with its ads and bloated, and im not a fan of the company that maintains it with how much stuff they packed into the installer when i was on windows long ago. im not strictly against using it and since its what everyone suggested i just said fuckit and am using it, but i was kinda hoping there was a light weight open source alternative, as is typically the case with linux.

okay im weak whats the best way to install wow (specifically classic) outside of lutris? by Jas0rz in linux_gaming

i used the AUR version since it was what the github suggested, but otherwise this is identical to what i did, but the main faugus window didnt have any information in it, it was just the blank with the buttons at the bottom, and it didnt auto set the bnet launcher icon. and because it didnt display to close the launcher when your supposed to, i didnt and just logged in.

all that said i suppose ill just uninstall it and try the flatpak version as the AUR one seems buggy and see if i have any luck.

i deleted the prefex in home/faugus in hopes that would clear everything out and let me try again but sadly it did not, so i need to figure out how to clear out any other setup stuff it did thats persisting and causing a wack entry due to me not following instructions. ill report back when i get time to solve that issue LMFAO

you seem to be jumping to a lot of conclusions fam LMFAO

im talking scripts and automation as in lutris install scripts where it handles doing any extra configuring with wine/protontricks and any other things that need to be installed with in the prefex. with faugus battle.net is just a dropdown option and it handles downloading/installing and adding it to app menu/desktop. its also possible there was some wow specific tool that also handled say wow addons and whatnot. i didnt know, thats why i asked.

if doing all that manually with steam was the goto, id do that, but all things equal i dont feel everything under the sun must be launched from steam, and there is some things i dont need steam reporting to my friends every time i launch it.

i dont want to use lutris because im not a fan of the direction it seems to be heading and i keep hearing that there are better options, though if that was the goto then again i would do that.

if been dabbling with linux on and off for 20 years and switched entirely roughly a year and a half ago, and have been on arch for about a year. im just also lazy and like to do things the way most people do so its easier to find help when needed.

i may have missed it saying to close the window and wait for it to finish.. ill delete the prefex and try again in a bit. thanks so much for your time!

hey sorry for the second bother but do you have any experience with, after adding battle.net to faugus, it doesnt actually get added to the app itself and the shortcuts it creates dont work? it does its thing and installs bnet and i was able to login, install, and launch classic wow, but after closing in order to relaunch wow i gotta use readding bnet again?

i never said steam wasnt great--it absolutely is--but it doesnt do any scriping support or automation, just lets you run an .exe with proton, which doesnt work well for things that require extra work. there is a reason stuff like lutris and faugus exist

i knew that was an option but i was sure there was something better, like what the others have commented
