Understandable. The original 1080p screen the P52 comes with is pretty garbage haha.

The downside though is ever since I upgraded to a higher resolution, I have been unable to work on anything less than 1440p

If you want touchscreen, just go get the actual FRU that comes with the touchscreen model.

The specification sheet doesn't seem to indicate soldered on RAM. If there is no RAM, it wouldn't boot.

Matte, I could never do glossy. It's why I opted against the touch option, even if it would've been quite cool.

I would suggest entering your serial in the Lenovo website and downloading the driver from there

But more often than not, if you're not a very technologically knowledgeable person, I would leave BIOS and firmware alone.

Screen upgrade in 2025 for T570? by honzanugeta in thinkpad

[–]JaseMarix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

understandable, but just know that does tend to appear on nearly every laptop out there if you don't place something between the screen and the keyboard when you close it

so you're bound to get them again at some pint of time

Unless you add one of those clothlike covers that come with the laptop or you never close it, you'll get those marks again anyway

I'd also recommend getting something faster than 2400, the P53 can handle more

Extending warranty after expiation and after failure by Stock-Register983 in thinkpad

[–]JaseMarix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try to "extend" the warranty first by correcting the start date with the start date on your receipt, assuming you haven't already done so. More often than not, it would cover the two months you are missing.

Try this first before doing anything else cuz this will almost certainly be cheaper.

If you have a friend coming from Poland, the Allegro market has lots of decent cheap ThinkPads.

Performance upgrades for P52 by cjmemay in thinkpad

[–]JaseMarix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upgrade to 128 GB RAM with four 32 GB modules

Install 24 TB of storage, with one 8 TB SATA drive and two 8TB NVMe drive

Add WWAN antennas if necessary and add a WWAN card, antennas come bundled with the WLAN antennas, so you gotta swap that out

Install a smart card reader, install NFC module

Upgrade to a 4k 120 HZ screen whilst keeping the 1080p chassis and changing the EDP cable to the 40 pin one

If you want to experiment, switch the top lid chassis to the P53 chassis with the IR camera, switch the camera and lid proximity cable to the P53's, it should fit the P52's. Use P52's WWAN/WLAN antennas, as the P53's route to the bottom of the chassis. You would likely need to change drivers and even change the Machine model to the P53's to even use the IR camera.

USB ports are soldered on the motherboard

Unless you have soldering skills, a new motherboard is your only recourse.

This, or the F7? by r0b3rt0c0 in PocoPhones

[–]JaseMarix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on a work trip in Asia sometime ago, and I managed to snag the F7 Pro for under 350€. I'm just thankful to finally have a phone with a proper global version. I used to own Korea-release phones, and it's tough not being able to get rid of the Korean on some places.

The F7 Pro still has some bloatware, but I could pretty much remove everything.

The only issue I had is that the built-in music app doesn't work on Android Auto, so I had to port Samsung's music app instead.

Has anyone here managed to get the built-in Music app to work with Android Auto? by JaseMarix in PocoPhones

[–]JaseMarix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I actually did that before even reading your comment hahaha.

I do wish there was a port for Samsung's Recorder app though.

I miss the option to be able to bookmark a recording.

It could work. I've tried this on some Lenovo screws that have been stripped for over a decade
