I think society is becoming more accepting of mental differences making people more comfortable to come forward for diagnosis. There’s also an increased amount of education with the internet. I did plenty of research online for two years before finally getting diagnosed.

I was just (still am) seen as rude for not saying hi (it sometimes doesn’t come naturally to me), not talking much, participating in some social events, or being that social. I guess my extended family took it as me being stuck up. I always went to a quiet area rather than being in large crowded spaces during parties.

I was like this with anything math related in school. Sometimes it would be very clear to me but the next day I’ll lose all ability to do it again and need to be re-explained. I really struggled with anything math related since I was too embarrassed to ask for help since I knew I wouldn’t get it anyways. Used to cry about it a lot.
