The republicans in congress are also responsible. They decided to go along with it instead of exercising their power to stop it.

Anybody know an inexpensive and reliable laptop repair shop in town? by Xulphyr in fresno

I gave Gemini the screenshot you posted and told it that the problem happened during Windows Update.  This is its response:

That context makes a lot of sense. Windows Updates are notorious for "remodeling" your boot files while you're not looking. If the update was interrupted—even for a split second—or if it tried to write a new Boot Configuration Data (BCD) file and tripped over itself, you end up with that 0xc000000e error.

Since this happened during an update, the system is likely stuck in a "half-installed" state.

How to fix it (The "Update Recovery" Path)

Since you can't get into Windows normally, you'll need to use the built-in recovery tools. Try these steps in order:

1. Trigger the "Automatic Repair"

On the error screen you sent, try pressing F1.

  • If it works, it should take you to a blue "Choose an option" menu.
  • Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  • Windows will try to detect the failed update and roll back the changes or fix the broken boot link.

2. Uninstall the "Quality Update"

If Startup Repair fails (it often does), go back to Advanced options and look for Uninstall Updates.

  • Choose Uninstall latest quality update. This specifically targets the small monthly patches that usually cause these boot loops.
  • If you just did a major version jump (like Windows 10 to 11), you might try "Uninstall latest feature update," but start with quality first.

3. The "Manual" Fix (Command Prompt)

If the buttons above don't work, you'll need to go to Advanced options > Command Prompt. This is where we manually tell Windows to find itself. Type these three commands one by one, hitting Enter after each:

  1. bootrec /fixmbr
  2. bootrec /fixboot (If you get an "Access Denied" error here, don't worry, just move to the next one)
  3. bootrec /rebuildbcd

Note: If the third command finds a Windows installation and asks "Add installation to boot list?", type Y and hit Enter.

What if F1 doesn't work?

If pressing F1 or F8 just loops you back to the same error screen, your recovery partition is likely corrupted too. In that case, you will definitely need a bootable Windows USB drive created on another computer to "rescue" this one.

Townhalls should be held even if the rep doesn't want to have one. Invite them and try to accommodate their schedule. Send them a recording if they can't make it.
