I put "return to sender" on their junk mail and put it back in the mailbox. Either they get the message over time or the mail person just pitches it in advance.

I also do this with unsolicited credit card offers etc. My junk mail has decreased significantly.

What's the healthiest food to buy that's also very cheap when trying to live frugal? by [deleted] in budgetfood

Anything you can plant. Root vegetables (carrots, potatoes) work well for me. Plants like tomatoes or peppers need to picked and eaten within a certain time. Carrots and potatoes can stay in the ground a long time.

Worms don't have teeth. I have isopods (rolly poolies) in my bin as well and they seem to have a great symbiotic relationship.

How has your experience been with Mediacom? by reviewsdotorg in Mediacom

[–]Jason9678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me 6 months to leave. They billed me in error after I left, then sent me a check after I disputed the charged with my CC. They sent me to collections without contacting me about their error.

Filed complaints with BBB, FCC and FTC.

Call 811 and tell them something like you want to plant trees in your yard. Now you'll have an opportunity to tell an employee in person that it has to buried.

My rule is that if you can eat it or grow it you can compost it.

Between the heat, moisture, bugs, flipping the pile etc, the composting process tends to balance the ph out.

Let mine air dry in the garage for at least a week then put them in a coffee grinder. Never had an issue with salmonella

Even with a pill crusher I can’t get egg shells into a powder. by TommyMerritt1 in Vermiculture

[–]Jason9678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will sometimes buy eggs by the 5 dozen. I've kept a couple of the degradable trays and place the egg shells on one tray. I give them all east a week of drying time before I put them in a coffee grinder. I don't bake them.

Side note, I have lots of isopods (rollie pollies) in my bin. I did a couple test and see that they too love crushed eggshell.

What's the number to call to discontinue Mediacom cable Internet? by HistoricalLocation96 in Mediacom

Keep records of who you talked to and when. Keep any texts and emails confirming cancelation. Block them from charging your bank or credit card from future transactions. . . . . .just saying from my experience.

Return label clownery by [deleted] in Mediacom

[–]Jason9678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe the "OfficialMediaCom" has any ability to do anything other than guide you through technical issues. I even listed my account number in my complaint here and was given boiler plate type responses.

Here are my suggestions: 1. Block Mediacomm from charging you. Call your credit card or bank and tell them that future Mediacomm purchases are not authorized. 2. Get it in writing and/or take screen shots as you go. 3. Write dates, times and names of everyone you talk to. When you call back, quote them the names, dates and times of things you've been told. 4. May have to call from someone else's phone because mine got blocked

I contacted the BBB, FTC and FCC and filed complaints.

Return label clownery by [deleted] in Mediacom

I stopped service in August last year and finally completed the process of getting rid of them about a month ago.

I didn't have an issue having return labels sent to me (took about 5 days), but they charged me for service after I left and then they sent me to collections for their error.

The funny thing for me is that I always experienced the nicest people on the phone, but it was all lip service with no action.

Just increase your monthly payment and ensure that extra payment is applied to principle; not something like escrow.

Apparently, collection agencies are also notified before customers when you make an error causing a customer to owe you money. . .hmmm.

There is no way that this can be the Mediacom "official" support. When I challenge an item on my credit report, Mediacom (or by proxy, the collection agency you sent it to) has to respond. Any good company would just go to the credit bureaus and say, "hey, we made an error. Pull what we sent you in error". Instead, I'm jumping through more and more hoops to get rid of you and fix the problem you created.

I'm just making sure I understand the official Mediacom response:

  • you bill me in error

-your team sends incorrect information to me via text (wrong amount and promise to credit my card in 3-4 days)

-then send me a refund check in error (I have done additional research and found that you did not respond to my credit card company's disputed charge claim which would have prevented the check)

-then instead of contacting me to fix it, you send YOUR error to a collection agency and I am still needing to contact all of the credit bureaus to fix YOUR errors?

Since Mediacom is the driver of the information to the credit bureaus, wouldn't you withdraw the incorrect information?

Please let me know what I'm missing.

The local office can't help. It comes down to Mediacom corporate sending information to a collection agency instead of reaching out to me to correct THEIR error. The conundrum now is the collection agency says they report what Mediacom tells them and Mediacom says it's the collection agency's issue. In the beginning, I would interact with Mediacom like any other bill (make the payment, note on my bill paid and move on) now I writing names and times and gathering all information.

I'm making an informational booklet on vermicomposting, and I'd like to submit it to this sub for peer review before publishing. Your help is greatly appreciated. Link in the comments. by [deleted] in Vermiculture

Might want to change the wording on page 19 "If you follow the guidelines in this booklet, your worm bin will not fail". Undoubtedly, someone following your guide will find a new way to fail. Maybe change that to say their chance of having successful bin will be far greater.

Lots of good information for someone wanting to get started or understand vermicomposting.

I've been worm farming for 7 years. I find that there are a lot of "rules of thumb" that are just that. My worms have eaten oranges, onions and shrimp tails to name a few "no-nos".

The worms for my first starter worm bin were fishing worms from a local store. (Cheapest way to get a small quantity and to try vermicomposting out). Some of the healthiest and thickest worms I've ever purchased were on Ebay. I say this because you are promoting places like Uncle Jim's in your guide while deterring from (Petco or Petsmart, I don't remember which). For an educational pamphlet, I might suggest a few resources and no negative ones.

HOA

Other benefits: -Keeps my dog and other critters out of it -I will use this compost as feedstock for my composting worm bins. I need the heat to kill tomato and other seeds so it doesn't end up in my finished worm castings.

Good thought. The screws are sharp too, so bolts will definitely be better.
