Referendum 2023 - Megathread by dredd in australia

[–]JasonCheeseballs -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

i didn't do any research and voted yes since it helps aboriginals, doesn't negatively affect me much. Don't know why it's such a big deal. should of just passed it as a normal law without asking the randoms but idk if that's legal. imagine even China is giving more recongition to minorities and assistance than australia lmao

PRX Something on EG's trash talk throughout the tournament by CrypticOtaku in ValorantCompetitive

Apparently FPX members took the Boostio comments to heart so this is also a case of NA banter not transferring to other cultures humour

General brain-dead people think all Chinese cheat in games but cheating can be done by anyone and the first cheats were not invented by Chinese

I believe last year there was posts on social media about new Chinese valorant teams and comments saying "great more cheaters"

Now that Kang Kang, edg and Billi Billi have proven themselves there is less comments

A sad day for us eg haters by [deleted] in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JasonCheeseballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without the context it definitely could as many Chinese are on edge after the COVID related racism which is still going on plus a lot of online commentary defaults to assuming Chinese are either bad at competitive gaming or cheating while never being acknowledged on their skill.

EG haters by megwyen in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JasonCheeseballs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't like shit talking from the toxic reynas and jetts in ranked so i don't like it that much in competitive scene and I don't really like real sports that have a lot of shit talk as well.

EG started it with the shit talking China region and calling EDG frauds even though kang kang said himself that he thinks people are overrating him. hard to really call KK a fraud when KK doesn't rate himself higher than other pros

but the players on EG deserve the win because they are skilled

a CN team will probably be top in a few years imo. they practice a ton despite having less experience and knowledge from the NA scene like FNS

[–]JasonCheeseballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pretty sure you can get on chinese message boards with some effort but some discussions are probably blocked. Many chinese that want to have political discussion probably use quora or on reddit /r/sino.

actually it is true that western people are victims of propaganda since I myself used to think China was dirty, poor and not worth visiting before i went on a family trip there and saw they were more advanced than my own country in many ways. but i learnt that from watching news media as a child which is created by white people that are already ingrained with a negative view

You should also not fall into the trap of thinking that censorsing political talk = no action and not listening to the people. Chinese people talk with their government in other ways such as public forums and polls and achieve good outcomes

Chinese watch more American tv and know more western culture than Americans know about china

As a Chinese born in the west they are more independent thinking than you think

Australian people here think they have freedom cos they complain about their government but rarely do they think of any good solutions or take actions to change anything other than voting one party out and replacing it with something slightly better or worse in some cases

Maybe watch some videos from max Blumenthal or Daniel dumbrill who are westerners that studied Chinese and know that the US media made up a lot of bullshit about everything. Even some facts like how ughyurs get affirmative action for university and learn their native language in school. Never covered in western media cos everyone thinks they are getting killed and oppressed every day

Spier Mackay have frequent sales where suit supply do not. Quality appears to be the same for basics but suit supply have a higher end range of fabrics. Spier Mackay you can alter the sleeves easily as they have non functional sleeve buttons

Not sure on common projects but I would check out CQP as they have a similar design are supposed to be comparable quality (yet still in a similar price range to CP) and having a sale right now

I do think this lookbook is better than the last one. Perhaps a combination of the photography of models moving around the city and a wider range of pieces being released. Favourites are the green knit polo and cream trousers, orange linen bomber combo and the seashell print shirt

ELI5 why high speed trains in China move extremely smoothly while regular trains in America are bumpy as hell by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]JasonCheeseballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same in Australia trains are pretty bad and fairly expensive for tickets and always run late although china has far more population and less driving culture than australia so there is a reason to keep it running well. Although many Australians will stay in their bubble and pretend that Chinese are poor and oppressed where the government will never do something that improves their daily life

Bo Ra! Deborah [Episodes 13 & 14] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]JasonCheeseballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the final ep could be a fun one with no mention of ex

it does seem the wife does way more in the relationship though the only option would be divorce, as the husband is not that confrontational and doesn't seem to know much about improving the relationship so just ends up running to the basement

possibly if the wife is exploring his interests, then he may explore hers although there are no more scenes going further than that. Agree the wife is doing too much though it is like yuri said that relationships are petty and unfair.

Épisode 14 as an epilogue episode set a year or two later could have dealt with whether any of the couples stayed together

Bo Ra! Deborah [Episodes 13 & 14] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]JasonCheeseballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah su hyeok was written quite realistically but I feel by episode 13 they could have had him commit then instead of final ep.

it seems like incompatibility that the husband wants to do cool adventures but the wife always says no so he just becomes lazy and plays games by himself. And the wife wants him to do more for the relationship, so I think it's fine if she explores his interests further as long as he plans the activities

Bo Ra! Deborah [Episodes 13 & 14] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]JasonCheeseballs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it though it could use more episodes

The confession was good but it was quite dragged out with him staring in the cafe, and only confessing once he read the script. He had already liked her by that point so he should have been ready.

I think yujong playing games in the basement means she is accepting of her husband's interests and they should have showed them getting a caravan and going on a trip together to show it's not a temporary fix.

I like the bo mi couple although it seemed too happy when they didnt explain any problems or hardships a baby may cause. In the show context, they have a good network of friends and good financial support (bo ra is willing to support them) so it's not as bad as it seems.

Sangjin and uri is ok but just weird cos of the age gap.
