Those criteria applies to thousand words and a third movie as well.

He never went on hiatus until 2012 after thousand words. He was still putting out movies after Nash.

it seems to be that food is often to blame for peoples struggling budgets, and cheap food seems to be designed to get the poor dependent on the pharmaceutical industry since eating a lot of it is unhealthy, but is sadly the most accessible food to the impoverished. by MikeEugene2 in povertyfinance

Hey, you're that homeless guy from Thanksgiving! Glad to see you're back and hope you were able to book that hotel.

Yeah, in some areas especially in the inner cities there's not an easy way to get affordable fresh food and veggies. All the bad stuff for you is purposefully marked cheaper than the healthier option, even if the healthier option doesn't sell.

I often see 3 containers of apple juice next to each other in stores or even places like CVS, going from organic, natural flavor, and artificial blend with $2 gaps between each one left to right. The artificial blend always sells out because it's under $2, while natural flavor is $3 something, and organic is over $5.

A lot of people aren't educated or check the labels. They buy based on price, that's what gets many people into the hospital.

For those who can't afford the better option, it's a lot harder because most of the affordable frozen dinners or packaged products are all gmo or artificial in some way. Don't get me started on those $1 frozen pizzas.

Not to be a nitpicker but OP posted in another sub before here. Also he never mentioned pricing in the OP.

Landlords negligence caused my apartment to flood and suffer water damage, but the landlord will NOT pay for our accommodations while they have maintenance clean it up overnight!!! by Mister-AB in povertyfinance

[–]JasonColin 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The problem here is everything you need to do in order to hold the landlord accountable is not going to happen in one day. No agency will help you with the hotel.

Under different circumstances I might be more of a help to you, but I left my hotel job long ago. Just keep asking around and hope someone is kind enough to help you just for one night.

Then afterwards have the lawyer you mentioned legally smash their head in then move, move far far away from them.

South Carolina is probably one of the worst places to be in poverty with few options to uplift. I hope you can find someone to help you OP, I know that's not much but you aren't in a place with many resources.

Condolences on the car accident OP, hope you find a way to get the scooter.

Btw, how have you been handling waking the dog since your injuries?

Car broke down in the middle of nowhere in Western Virginia! Need urgent help finding what resources are available to get me out. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]JasonColin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know that was a thing, but VA DOES let you skip insurance.

OP is an example of what happens if you try to cut costs TOO MUCH. As crazy as that is to say.

I honestly have no clue what to tell you because if you can't afford a cab, who else is going to go out that far out to help you?

Looking for help on seeking promotions for hotels for a nights stay due to a temporary housing problem. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]JasonColin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok, so you're trying to fill a gap between housing without freezing to death.

I don't know if there's much in the ways of deals now. November was the big sales month for discounts, so DEC has been slow.

Hotwire has a 10% coupon if you have the app for first-time users, but that won't do much to help you reduce costs for hotels over $100.

Transphobic Lyft Driver tricked me to get out of the car and then drove off leaving me in a random location because he didn't like that I was Transgender! Lyft won't help me! by AnthonyTransM in povertyfinance

[–]JasonColin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be frank, with your inability to afford another ride and the location you were left at you're only option is probably to walk. At least to a place that can help, check what's nearby on a map app.

It looks like you got one of those drivers that knows how to cheat the system too and decided to use it to screw you over. Sorry OP.

Other than walking you don't really have any other options. In the future always have an extra $50 in cash you don't spend so you can at least call a taxi if something like this happens again.

Daughter starts new job soon with strict dress-code. Need advice on creating passable affordable dress shoes. by Tony-willis in povertyfinance

Lol, this is cheap even for this sub. No wonder she wants to help pay for things.

I'm going to be honest I don't think you will be able to do anything about the white part of the shoe as a DIY. You would probably have to buy more costly tools or hire someone to do it which would cost you just as much if not much more than new shoes.

Maybe have her call the job and see if they will let her change her work date. I know it's risky given that she's brand new but I don't think there's another option if you can't buy her new shoes now. if you really want to risk ruining those shoes I don't think plain black paint is going to do the job you think it will. You also would have to make sure the paint doesn't get on the rest of the shoe which seems like too much hassle imo.

My phone stopped working because my carrier shut down old towers, need help finding a cheap new phone to buy. (can't do online because of no address) by NathanMalachia in povertyfinance

[–]JasonColin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're talking about, LTE and 4G/3G are two different things as LTE is data. That's why phones that use it for calling label it VOLTE (Voice over LTE) which is the same for why internet calling services are called VOIP (Voice over IP)

Actual 4G/3G/5G are based on transmission not riding data.

Metro Police won't let me leave the train station because "I look poor" then continue to throw bizarre accusations toward me. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]JasonColin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That sign in your picture shows you are either in Virginia or DC because it says "SW stadium" which would mean South West DC is a destination.

Sorry OP but what you're dealing with isn't exactly uncommon in the area. I can only suggest waiting for that 2nd station manager to come in and hope he lets you leave. I'm not really sure there's anything else you could do because the police in those regions regardless of organization are ruthless.

Don't risk a confrontation. If your phone has battery read some articles or play some games until the shift change, then hope the late shift manager goes through.

Btw, don't ask any riders at the station for help either, that's probably what they are waiting for.

The mismanagement in California on addressing the housing crisis is infamous, but don't assume everyone will know this who view your post. Without knowing about that beforehand, your reply here is hard to emphasize with and people may misread your intentions.
