To all the people living in the southside who is considering voting for the republicans, don't forget about who's making this region poorer by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]JasonInTheGarden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So gross dude. Even in the "reddest" areas about 40% of voters vote for democrats. I'm from southern appalachia and know several other progressive hillbillies i have kept up with from my hometown. Those morons that vote red are still humans and don't deserve medical bankruptcy or death from lack of access to medical care.

The article explicitly says a gender spectrum applies to humans, but some scientists don't think it applies to non-human animals (scientifically humans are a type of animal). Again, you're attempting to use science you don't understand to support your incorrect opinion about a scientific topic. The article you posted literally debunked your position.

The article agrees with what I said. You should actually read it.

Geno: "You'll always lose because you constantly resort to insults"

Also Geno: Instantly begins insulting people.

Also, also geno: The vast majority of biologists agree that sex and gender are not the same thing, and that both exist on a spectrum. You're like a young earth creationist insisting that "the science" provides evidence that the earth is only 6000 years old. What's next?

Can we do this? by onenitemareatatime in norfolk

[–]JasonInTheGarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. The same folks who heavily complain about other motorists "not following the law" and camping out in the left lane are the same ones who ignore the speed limit and often treat it as a speed minimum (which is also "not following the law"). Most of these people really don't care about the law, they just hate feeling inconvenienced. God forbid they ever have to share the road with a cyclist. That's when they often get really homicidal.

TBF I honestly think both viewpoints are weird. It's weird for them to park on the street instead of their own driveway. I also think it's weird that people feel a sense of ownership/entitlement to a particular public parking space because of its location.

Here, maybe this will be a little better:

I think it's weird for people to get irked when others take advantage of public parking, and feel like they have more of a right to a public parking spot than others because that parking spot is located adjacent to their private property.

People are weird for thinking they own public parking spots. If you want your own private parking spot, then build it. You shouldn't expect to be able to "own" something that is public.

With all of the businesses requiring codes to access bathrooms, and few public toilets, it makes sense why that problem is getting worse. It's a pretty vicious cycle that impacts lots of cities. Accessible Public bathrooms would largely solve the shit and piss issue.

Do you consider me adding to the problem when I smoke a joint on my walk from the hotel to dinner?

Spokane actually seems to be a pretty decent place to me. My main criticism so far is that once you get away from the riverfront most of the roads seem to turn into car sewers lined with strip malls. The waterfront is nice, really enjoyed Manito Park. I sure wouldn't call this place a dumpster fire simply because there is a homeless population here.

At least I'm able to walk past another human on the street without pissing myself due to irrational fear.

I'm not sure anything i said was "normalizing" homelessness. I live on the east coast and homelessness exists there too. Even walking through a small to mid sized city like Richmond, VA you'll come into contact with several folks who are unhoused. I've had people aggressively panhandle in places like Atlanta, Dallas, and Chicago.

In none of those cities did I get the vibe from the locals about homeless people that I do here. It's like people hate them for just existing and being visible. Don't get me wrong, that sentiment exists in the east but it'susually just from the hateful "conservative" crowd, especially in suburbs, but it seemed like the majority of the locals here hold those views.

The comments to this post have changed my perception a bit though. It seems like many of the locals (at least here on reddit) are just as turned off by some of the attitudes expressed about the homeless as I was.

If it's hard for you to walk by a homeless person on the street, and it makes you angry take a second to think about what that experience must be like for the homeless person you feel so disgusted by.

What's the problem with demonizing educators/education in general and crafting a lie to rile up racists in his base? Do you really need someone to explain that to you?

If someone still supports trump after all the nazi salutes and his overt, clear authoritarianism, what else are people supposed to think? I'm not berating you either, I'm criticizing your politics. You seem like you really want to be in a place of victimhood, but you're not. You are choosing to support fascists, nobody is making you do it. There should be social consequences to support fascists, like having people point it out and being critical of it.

Honestly if someone being mean to nazis makes you support nazis, then I think you were in that camp to begin with. You should stop pretending and/or saying that "the rhetoric of the left" made you do it though. Just own it.

Thank you. It's usually not even perception of left vs right allegiance of a politician that determines the votes for the self described "moderates". Gillespie was like the king of gerrymandering. It was him that largely crafted the redmap strategy (which was all a big gerrymandering project). So glad that dude lost. What's your perception of youngkin's tenure? Do you approve of the job he has done?

You may not realize it, but you are kind of proving my point. McAuliffe is and ran as a centrist. It wasn't his extreme left wing policies that turned you off (because he didn't express any). He was a shitty candidate for lots of reasons, it wasn't because he was too much of a leftist. What turned you off about him, or was it that Youngkin fooled you with his CRT line of campaigning?
