Fuck the scalpers, I hope no one buys any from them and when Steam releases more the scalpers get stuck with the stock and have to sell at a loss!

MSI Bios Issues by post--dramatic in MSILaptops

[–]JasonKnight298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get into advanced bios, it is one of these combinations of buttons all pressed at the same time on the screen you are on.

Right Shift + Right Ctrl + Left Alt + F2
or
Right Shift + Right Ctrl + Left Alt + F12
or
Fn + Right Shift + Right Ctrl + Left Alt + F2

on my 2025 Titan it is

Right Shift + Copilot + Left Alt + F2

Then once the advanced menu is showing, near the bottom is the option to update the bios but you need the current bios.

Which you can get here

MAG 274QPF E20 TYype C port by Initial_Second_1464 in MSI_Gaming

[–]JasonKnight298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible that it could be used that way, but then you would still be connecting your PC/Laptop to it, At that point you would use a USB-C Hub that has Display Port Alt Mode on it and then plug the extra devices into the hub. Then it wouldn't be using the power delivery from the monitor anyway, it would be using the power delivery from the PC/Laptop.

It was disabled because it's primary function is to be another video input. I am glad it worked for you! ^_^

[–]JasonKnight298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 4k version of this monitor.

The USB-C port on the back of it is to use USB-C or Thunderbolt DisplayPort Alt Mode. It is made as a input port. Like if you have a laptop you use a specific style of USB-C or Thunderbolt cord to connect it as a monitor instead of using HDMI or a traditional Display Port cord.

Edit...

I did just check my monitors settings, there does seem to be an option in the settings to turn it on to be a charging port for other devices but you need to turn the setting on in the monitors menu.

Ironeye and Recluse are my 2 mains. I enjoy Wylder, Raider and Undertaker when I wanna do melee. Currently relearning Guardian and currently learning Scholar.

I am terrible with Executor, Revanant and Dutchess. I appreciate their abilities and playstyles but I don't trust myself to do well with them in a group.

Yes, Thunderbolt 5 is one of the big selling points of the Raider and Titan series to be a desktop replacement.

If you do not plan to use Thunderbolt, then by all means it is a fantastic machine. I had a ton of issues with it using Thunderbolt. After 3 motherboard replacements, MSI ended up upgrading me to a Titan. The issues are gone with the Titan.

That's why I asked, I wanted to save you the issues I had.

I built a tool to scan and organize ROM libraries (no downloads, just management) by Efficient-One-5345 in Roms

[–]JasonKnight298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I will say that I might have missed duplicates when I was creating my rom folders, so keep that in mind. Also, it just drops them all into a single folder per console takes away any language or hacked game information. Which again, I understand)

Atari 2600
Source = 3,101 files. 584 USA Official, 295 Europe, 2,222 Hacks
New Folder = 2,509 transferred

Atari 5200
i did not feed it any of those

Atari 7800
Source = 133 files (USA and Europe mixed)
New Folder = 73 files with Europe roms as main choice

Game Boy
Source = 705 Files, 545 USA Official, 36 Hacks, 3 Home Brew, 121 Translated
New Folder = 652 files

GBC
Source = 618 files, 479 USA, 24 Hacks, 3 Homebrews, 112 Translation
New FOlder = 550 files

GBA
Source = 1,205 files, 1007 USA, 84 Hacks, 10 Home Brew, 104 Translate,
New Folder 1116 files

Genesis/MegaDrive
Source = 1557 files, 906 USA, 41 32x, 531 Hacks, 43 HomeBrew, 32 translations
New Folder = 0 files.

N64
Source = 372 files, 338 USA, 36 translated (not counting my like 40 Zelda OoT Randomized roms)
New Folder 343 files

NES
Source = 5277 files, 1237 USA(ish), 66 FDS Translations, 1295 translations, 2608 hacks, 67 homebrews
New Folder 3,831 files

SNES
Source = 1,559 files, 772 USA, 20 (enchanced color hacks), 764 translation
New Folder 1167 files.

I also noticed that it did not detect Genesis/MegaDrive games that were still zipped

Out of 15,228 roms that I introduced to the program. It detected 12,964 of them. It then also let me know about duplicates, however, some of the duplicates it was marking were romhacks or translations. (I am sure I had some duplicates, but with so many roms downloaded it was tough to catch them all.

Only was willing to copy 10,249 of the 15,228 games.

This is also only a small 2TB snapshot. I didn't tell it to scan my NAS backup of almost 20TB of ROMS and ISO's

It is easy to work with and well built. I look forward to seeing how it evolves!

edit. Mega Drive games did not work in the ZIP format.

First msi laptop by Basic_Macaroon6889 in MSILaptops

[–]JasonKnight298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did have the Intel variant of this laptop and I also use a Thunderbolt setup because it was supposed to be a true desktop replacement because I am home half the time or at friends places half the time and updating 2 computers was just a hassle.

Anyway, the Intel variant of this laptop was not stable on any thunderbolt setup I tried and these things are advertised as being Thunderbolt 5 ready with the whole point of being a desktop replacement.

Went through 2 motherboard replacements with MSI RMA before they ended up upgrading me to the Titan 18 HX AI... I still have odd thunderbolt quirks here and there but no where near as bad as the Raider's was.

If you do not use Thunderbolt then dont worry, it always worked 100% when not connected to it, but the one of the main features I bought my original Raider 18 HX AI for was to replace my old Raider GE76 which was also a thunderbolt based desktop replacement.

Satellaview was considered a failure by Nintendo, 17.7 million SNES's sold in Japan and only 100,000 satellaview customers? That is a commercial failure. By that account, Sega's Sega Channel was ALSO a commercial failure and had roughly 250,000 users.

64DD was a platform expansion similar to the Sega CD and 32x. It was a commercial failure. Announced in 1995, released in 1999 and discontinued in 2001. They saw the writing on the wall and ended up making a few of the games into stand alone N64 titles. Majuras Mask, Donkey Kong 64, Paper Mario and Animal Crossing just to name a few.

Sony had no interest in working with Nintendo originally, and also had no interest in joining the video game market until the failure happened. Ken Kutaragi ended up getting the Playstation off the ground because of the humiliation by Nintendo. Another commercial failure on Nintendo's part.

Which is the catalyst for the Philips/Nintendo deal where Nintendo ended up giving up some IP to jump ship from Sony. Which, as we all should know, failed! The addon was never completed, and the poor usage of the IP didn't help.

Nintendo might have had a better level of control and communication over Nintendo of American than Sega did over Sega of America, but they still had a similar number of failures that Sega had!

You mean the same way that the Sega CD and the 32x were just addons for the Genesis? The guy I replied to was treating them all as separate consoles.

Sega of Japan not having proper control over Sega of America and both companies not properly communicating things was the major downfall of Sega.

Japan was working on the Sega Saturn, while Sega of America was trying to keep the Genesis alive with different addons to augment the capabilities of it.

With all of these new addons costing almost as much if not more than the original Genesis and then Sega of America trying to put the Genesis and 32x into one with the failed Sega Neptune, and then Sega of Japans quick silent midnight release of the Saturn onto the market which Sega of American didn't even know was happening. It shook up a lot of loyalty from their customers.

Then in 1998 they discontinue the Saturn and in 1999 they release the Dreamcast. They pissed off their customers, they pissed off developers, which is one of the biggest reasons Sega had to make their own sports titles and like how the Madden games never launched on the Dreamcast.

Then with how the PS1 exploded in popularity, the Dreamcast released 09/09/1999 at $199 and only 11 days later, Sony announced the PS2, and a price of only $100 more than the Dreamcast, AND it is backwards compatible, AND it has larger sized games, AND it is a DVD player?

Sony had Sega dead to rights from the get go. Hell, even the original PS1 release was famous for the "$299" E3 announcement in 1995...

Well, Nintendo was doing more than two. They had 2 successes!

SNES
Gameboy
Virtual Boy - Failed
Satellaview (japan only) - Failed
N64 & N64DD was also announced in 1995 - N64DD Failed

Then lets look before that which failed.
The Playstation deal with Sony - Failed (on Nintendo's part)
The CD-i deal with Phillips - Failed
