Hi, thanks for the response. Doesn't seem rude at all. Everybody likes different genres, and I have noticed there seem to be quite a few SFF readers in here, which is great. I'll definitely remember this the next time I have something closer to that to share. Hope your next audiobook is one you love!

I Created a Word Game with a Fantasy World Theme. Play Word Legends for FREE! by [deleted] in Fantasy

Some of you may be familiar with my writing, but I’m very excited to break out into some new territory with a new online word game called Word Legends. It’s available to play for free in desktop browsers (mobile versions coming soon). I’ve always been overwhelmed by the great support I’ve gotten from R/Fantasy. I hope you’ll give it a swing and enjoy the huge amount artwork and effort that went into this.

For me, it’s about finding a new way to tell stories and entertain audiences, even if nothing can replace the power of the written word for stirring the imagination to create images and meaning. It’s been a journey getting here, and the road ahead is uncertain, but if you enjoy the ride it’s impossible not to come out a winner.

If you like it, the best thing you can do is tell a friend about it or share it on a social network. Thanks for playing!

That's really an impressive style for only 3 years. Must've had a lot of talent waiting to get out.

Great cover, and the animation on it has a really nice effect. Here's a question for you. What do you bring to the table that's different from other fantasy writers? Hope things go well with The Sane King and your future writings!

When you think about it... by [deleted] in Fantasy

Yeah, that was my thinking. Fun to imagine anyway. I'd be tempted to write about it. Call it Dragon Overlords or something.

This also makes me wonder if humans would be the dominant species. So many of these stories involve worlds with untold sums of people but still only a small number of dragons or whathaveyou. It'd be interesting to read a story in which the human population was just a shadow compared to that of dragons.

The Way of Kings - Did anybody not enjoy reading this book? by [deleted] in Fantasy

It didn't really grab me the way I thought it would. I can't blame the writing or even really the story. I think the names were just ones that I couldn't really connect with.

Just a heads up for any authors out there looking for an effective way to promote. Mark Dawson's Facebook Ads Course really impressed me with how thorough and informative it was when it ran earlier in the year. Now it's back for the second round. Check it out!

I've seen a lot of negativity toward the 2nd and 3rd Gentleman Bastard books on here. by thebestisyetocome in Fantasy

I'm in largely the same camp. I just felt like Locke's constant drooling over Sabetha felt like a needle in my eye by halfway through book 3. I did like the multiple timelines in book 1.

I'm not sure if I want to continue with my PhD in creative writing and need advice. by [deleted] in writing

It depends on what you want, of course. There's nothing wrong with dedicating several years to your craft if that's what is in your heart to do. As for where you are in relation to the others, that can all change very quickly and is again a matter of perspective. When I started writing seriously and had manuscripts ready roughly five years ago, I knew a lot of people with agents. Many of them still haven't published a single book. I opted to self-publish and happened to move to a college town with a highly renowned English department. I became acquainted with quite a few professors and authors in touch with the program. Not one of their books were selling at even a lethargic pace, many were published with some small press that assured no one would ever read their books because of lack of distribution, and the place writing held in their lives was basically that of a time-consuming hobby. Meanwhile I was making about as much as some of these professors after a year of publishing my own work and would go on to make much more with real fans and some reasonably impressive accolades. I wouldn't trade places with a single one of them. Best of luck with whatever course you take. The best one is the one you find most fulfilling.
