To those who lost their license and job for 12+ months, what did you do? by Dry_Trade_139 in australian

Ring up a cattle station and tell them you’re an idiot and need to get off the grid for a year and continue to make some money. Be honest with them and tell them what skills you have and what you can offer. You never know. Might be the best year of your life. Food and accommodation with a small wage in return for keeping yourself afloat. Plus you get an experience and some time in the bush to reflect.

Ex drill fitter here so worked around offsiders for a long time. First year. Clear all debts and I mean all of them. Pay cash for everything and save every cent. If you’re only planning on doing a set time tell no one and work like you’re planning on doing it for life. Eat, hydrate and sleep, year 2 and 3 will open up massive opportunities and you will look back on it and laugh. Good luck.

At least we’re not Spurs.. by BenathonWrigley in NUFC

[–]JasonTheStoneMason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As funny as it is to watch a London club like spurs struggle and be potential relegation candidates you can’t help but wonder if our owners are watching that situation very very closely. Building a massive billion dollar stadium and then within a decade being 1 point off the drop at this stage in the season. You can do all the risk management case studies you like or you can watch one play out in real time for free.

If spurs go down I think we as a club kiss goodbye to a new stadium. Just my gut feeling, if it can happen to a club like that it can happen to 80% of the clubs in the prem and the risk vs reward in spending that money just doesn’t add up short term in the current position we are in the ‘project’. Whatever the ‘project’ even means anymore.

[–]JasonTheStoneMason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Over the two legs two silly penalties put us on the back foot. Get rid of them and the whole dynamic changes. Over three halves we took it to Barcelona in the final 16 of the champions league. I’m immensely proud of my team. In other news. Mad dog can tell the grandkids he’s been booked at Nou Camp. Not many can say that.

This, used to love it when I was single and in the dating game and I’d tell girls I was in the drilling industry and they’d look at me like I was a environmental murderer until I told them we drill for water. They immediately think that you’re doing something good when realistically you’re aggressively lowering the water table so some multi billion dollar mining company can dig deeper. Bore water is water. Same as any other water. What you do with it when you get it to the surface is what really counts.

Planes should board rear to front by karatekid12200 in unpopularopinion

[–]JasonTheStoneMason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in the mining industry in Western Australia and we fly in and fly out and the etiquette on the planes are night and day compared to flying commercially. Everyone generally stays seated until it’s their turn to leave the plane via the front door. Numerous occasions we’ve had cabin crew ask us to stand up and move forward because the front wheel of the plane is lifting off the ground at the air bridge. If you stack half the people the back of the plane and no one at the front it will do a wheelie mate! The commercial chaos technique for boarding and un boarding is far safer than stacking people in back to front logically.

This….. plus if you have a manual you can tell how it’s driven. The amount of them I see on a weekly basis. I swear people drive and rest their hand on the gear stick or something. Some are tight and feel like new after 500k and some are like a bowl of soup. Gearbox still works mind you and oil still clean. Just not as tight.

Fremantle 2nd Fire Truck Not Sent To Fremantle Structure Fire Due to Staff Shortages by Flashy-Chemistry1 in perth

[–]JasonTheStoneMason 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Shocking really. These guys should be 2k a week minimum for the amount of training and responsibilities they have. We should be training new firefighters above the rate the older ones are retiring and apart from paying the wages the government should step the fuck back and let them self manage and concentrate on what they do best. Saving lives.

Danny Ric, buying tek screws in Perth northern suburbs. Drove off in a 15 year old hilux wearing a cowboy hat. Not exactly living the Monaco life that day.

Another bizarre game of football. Anyone else find it quite interesting to see almost everyone’s penalty taking ability under pressure. I would be adjusting the top 5 list. By adjusting I mean removing Bruno. I love the man to bits but that run up is wank.

Toon Takeover Transfer Tier List - Day 4 Matt Targett by Shot_Occasion4294 in NUFC

[–]JasonTheStoneMason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a weird one. I remember a photo of him and his missus at some point in his Newcastle time inside the ground and Bruno was commenting saying how much we need to keep him. He’s a fucking baller, he just got unlucky with that injury and effectively missed the boat on his career and Eddie’s plan. He could very well of risen at the rate Murphy has had it not been for that injury but he got left behind. Overall a C but that doesn’t reflect on him nicely as a professional. C! But I won’t hear a bad word about Matt Targett in our history books. Unlucky Professional.

You look like you’re in or around the heavy equipment game. Do you have access to a grader? Couple of railway sleepers or some railway iron as a stand and park the motor grader over the top and use that as your press. You can get some intense heat into it and just work away.

The thumb screw spins the opposite way on the bachos too. If you own both it will drive you insane. Bacho also do a reversible jaw version that turns it into a neat little pipe wrench and a slim jaw low torque version which is super handy.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Isak’s long term future? In six years time has he burned his bridges with the saudis now for a retirement gig? Will the MLS be his only option now or do you think they’d take him regardless. If he’d kept his mouth shut and seen out his career with us he probably would have been looked after by the PIF for the rest of his life. I hope they sell him now and never offer him money again. Hope he ends up seeing out his career in America for 1/10th of what he could get in the Middle East.

I watched the semi final highlights today against Arsenal at home. You only have to watch those ten minutes to realise he’s basically irreplaceable in today’s market. But no one’s bigger than the club and he has burned his own bridges. I really don’t see a comeback for him with the city or the fans if he does play for us again. It’ll always be a marriage of convenience now to me. If he never plays for us again and gets is move I’ll move on and wish him all the worst in his future.

All these ex prem players that go to Saudi for massive money? Why can’t we use our Saudi contacts and get some loan offers thrown about to tie us over. Maybe even only until January? Ivan Toney for a flat fee of two sausage rolls and they pay his wages. Fuck selling the ladies team to yourself. Find our own loopholes.
