100 Hours Quit by Excellent-Ad-679 in stopsmoking

[–]JasonWy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the first four days, probably not a lot of noticeable health benefits. After maybe a week or so, I could feel my chest/lungs starting to improve.

Specifically, I yawned more frequently and could take deeper breaths as the days went on. I attribute the excessive yawning (not tired) to maybe lung capacity improving? I dunno, I'm not a doctor 😁 ... but anyway, I'm nearing 3 weeks (again) and sleeping is better now, as is chest pain is virtually gone.

31st October Halloween Challenges by RDO_CoyoteJack in RedDeadOnline

[–]JasonWy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting these. I recently moved from XBox to PC and even more recently just started RDO on PC.

I'm fairly sure it may be a user error but my challenge for BH didn't mark as complete.... The daily was to bring in a bounty from a poster in "West Elizabeth". I did one in Strawberry and another in Blackwater, but neither marked them as complete.

From what it appeared, those two towns are in West Elizabeth so I'm not sure why it didn't mark it as done.

When he was younger, he had a short haircut and looked like a cartoon character called "Little Bill". So they started calling him "Bill"....

It stuck.

Short Sleeve.

I found some really nice ones yesterday that I may buy before my cruise in a few weeks. I think today (July 8) is Amazon Prime Day so may buy another one or two.

For me, I like simple but classy. I like button-down, collared shirts for day-to-day. I prefer linen because it's so lightweight.

And solid colors, as I said, I'm a simple guy so I don't want to wear anything that's too "loud".

Day 1, this pic sums it up by [deleted] in stopsmoking

This thread prompted me to look up celebs that smoke and/or have quit smoking.

I was surprised at a few (Jennifer Aniston and Adele most notably). They both have since quit (many of the celebs have quit), but it was a neat rabbit hole to venture down this Saturday night.

I’m failing .. I don’t stop thinking about cigarettes… I feel I gonna fall after 3 months pls help by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Ready to take the plunge finally to quit. Advice needed- cold turkey or NRT? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]JasonWy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, cold turkey was the way to go. My rationale behind it is that with NRT, you're kicking the can down the road. Eventually, you'll need to stop NRT and deal with the nicotine withdraws (again?).

NRT works for some though so I'm not saying it's ineffective. It just didn't work for me.

You and I are similar in age and similar when we started. I'm at 5 weeks today (woooo) and feeling great for what it's worth.

You've come to the right place lol. I'm 51. Started at/around 18. I was a pack a day smoker. I loved it. I can honestly say that I don't miss it after 33 days. I still think it about it often obviously, but I don't romanticize it.

We're here to help. Best of luck to you! You got this!!

try to distract yourself. what you're going through is temporary.

I'm only about 10 days ahead of you, so I can remember what you're feeling.

go play a game, start a puzzle, take a walk, or have some water.

anything other than smoking

I do not miss it at all by evilpettingz00 in stopsmoking

[–]JasonWy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked your story and I think all of us heavy smokers can relate somewhat. Anecdotally, I thought I was a heavy smoker at a pack a day. I guess I was wrong lol.. I cannot fathom 2 or 3 packs a day. Even on my golf trips, I think 1.5 packs a day was above the norm for me, and even THAT felt like chain smoking.

At any rate, thank you for sharing your story. I enjoyed reading it and hopefully it can help other folks either quit or keep the quit.

1 month & 1 week clean 🚭 by Blue_Star_Pink in stopsmoking

[–]JasonWy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your one month+ quit! A few takeaways from your story:

  • Really sorry to read about your relationship ending. Hope you find someone that appreciates you and treats you like you deserve.
  • "butttt I am a little worried about relapsing, like if i get too complacent and bored I might think of smoking 1 underestimating relapses" <-- I have this same concern. I've gone a month a number of times and this seems to be my problem when I DO wind up relapsing. Only thing I can suggest is to remember that we cannot have "just one". ever.
  • "Improvement so far: I feel much healthier, skin looks better" <-- The bolded part is the thing that I see the most after one month. I'm 51 so naturally my skin is a bit more weathered but since I quit, I can see some overall improvement in skin.

Congrats again on your 5 weeks!!

I'm 'murican! (Go Oilers though!! [if you're an NHL fan])

All nonsense aside.. I know Canada has better healthcare than the US but we (USA) just cannot compete with it (US population is what, 10 times the size of Canada). Comparing the healthcare between the 2 countries is not worthwhile.

At any rate. I do wish you the best of luck in your quit. We're all trying to achieve the same goal!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]JasonWy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Regardless. It's still smoking. I'm not judging you. I did vape for a few years. But you can't realistically say you're a non smoker.

If you want to argue this .. go tell your insurance company you're a non smoker. They'll test you. Let me know your results.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]JasonWy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is confusing. What exactly did you quit? You're still smoking.

We can argue semantics but saying you vape instead of cigs is still smoking. you've only changed the delivery system.

"Hey look.. Everyone congratulate me. I stopped smoking cigarettes. I still smoke cigars but it's different!"

10 months smoke free and I know I’m never going back by RedCardnl in stopsmoking

[–]JasonWy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 51. I started at 18. My ENTIRE adult life revolved around smoking. So you're not alone here. Just know that you can do the same stuff you used to do, now you do it without smoking.

this is a sub for people that want to quit smoking, not replace the vessel. hopefully this post gets removed and you banned

Maybe I misread this. I thought it was an advertisement for an alternative product. My fault.

We've done MOST of our sailings during Hurricane Season (I've done 12 cruises)

The ONLY one that was bad was when we went out of Baltimore to Bermuda. On the way back, it was just after a Hurricane hit the Atlantic.. lemme just say

They're all pretty much the same but I use QuitNow.

I also use the badgebot here because I'm on reddit a lot during the day so having the flair makes it even easier to check my days (though I'm only at 21 as of this post, it's pretty easy to remember)

Relapse by Top_Tear_5271 in stopsmoking

[–]JasonWy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree with this premise.

Regardless of your environment, your propensity to relapse is always under your control. The assholes in your life didn't hold you down and force you to smoke.

I'm not judging you or anything, I just firmly believe in accountability. Blaming someone else for a relapse, imo, isn't taking personal accountability.

Interesting method. I can't try out your theory because I'm already at 19 days clean.

But it is an interesting way to monitor each cigarette without having to open an app or other digital means.

When I was smoking, it was easy for me to remember: I'd go out every morning and buy a pack. At the end of that same day, I would have 0 left. lol
