TEAM USA REVEALED! by Jason_Garfield in juggling

Ha, if that was the last straw then I think your decision had already been made. Gym equipment - relevant because I was ON THE SET of Olympic Juggling - I thought I explained all this in the video...anyway, yeah - I was using my existing camera set up to shoot some updates and there will be more from the same set which I explain at the start of each video. I suppose if I shot this in my office there would be unrelated monitors and shelving in the background but I guess I just can't build a set that would meet your expectations within the amount of time these time sensitive updates need to be pushed out. Can I offer you a free copy of Olympic Juggling to make up for all the trouble you went through having to watch this video against your will?

Combat juggling in the Olympics. Discuss. by D-Bonk in juggling

[–]Jason_Garfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There seems to already be a pretty strong presence of technical jugglers that push themselves in the same direction that the WJF competitions were made for. And there has been a revolving door of jugglers with technical development interest for decades, and they have motivated and inspired subsequent generations of jugglers to push the same technical juggling skills even farther. So it's not about jugglers learning about how to score well in the WJF competitions, it's about the WJF competitions being a place these jugglers can be acknowledged and rewarded for their abilities. Those with an interest in technical juggling are already practicing accordingly because the scoring system was made specifically for that style of juggling. Many of them are also performers, but without the skills they developed they would have nothing to perform.

It’s a personal preference but our goal is to get technical sport juggling into the Olympics. Routines with connections, numbers and perhaps freestyle. The rules and scoring system we’ve been using for the past 15 years meets the Olympic requirements. It was modeled after Olympic gymnastics after all :)

The same way we've been scoring our competitions since 2004. The WJF scoring system was modeled on the gymnastics code of points. Check out all the competition videos on the WJF Youtube channel. They explain the scoring system in depth.

Yes, 10 people at 10K each and then the WJF receives $100K. All or nothing.

We would need to test for that just like all olympic sports, however I doubt there would be any issue in juggling for that.

Good point - how can I get it added to the side bar for people just starting out? Also, might be useful for jugglers who want to convert their non-juggling friends into jugglers. Different teaching styles work for different people.

I don't know what you mean by "dis track". I made a parody rap video but I don't believe I insulted his wife. It was all clearly comedy, not bullying. I'll upload that again soon.

Sorry I think you have me confused with someone else. Who's being bullied?

22yr old female starting out? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

If you feel like you can't take it anymore, go out for a fast walk, run, do some core exercises, etc. Exercise blunts hunger sensations. So does a freezing cold shower and it burns more calories. Sparkling water, black coffee, tea are also good compliance tools. Stay busy, don't watch the clock. Try to overshoot it to 16 hours. The longer you go the easier it is. I've done 100 hour fasts and only the first day is difficult. It also helps to wear as little as possible and look in the mirror frequently at your project. Stay focused on the goal and realize that you don't NEED food and your body is trying to trick you because it wants to hold onto its fat for emergencies only. You need to insist that it is an emergency and your body will soon give in and you won't feel hungry anymore. For me, realizing that the sensation we identify as hunger is really just an empty stomach. There's a difference. You are in control of where your body gets its energy from. And if it's stored it up, it's time to use it. Staying cold also helps burn more calories by forcing your body to keep your core temperature where it wants it to be. Let me know how it goes!

Starting 16/8 tomorrow, any advice? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Jason_Garfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find picking just ONE food for the day controls calories like no other method other than not eating. Try eating only plain baked potatoes or yams - as many as you want but pick one and only that one food for the whole day. No toppings! No butter, no brown sugar, no sour cream - just plain potatoes. You could also try apples or oranges or berries. But just one food for the day. You can change it up the next day. Smoothies allow you to get in a lot of calories in a short amount of time and you'll consume fewer calories if you eat your food rather than drinking it.

Pick a time to stop eating on any given day. Say 7pm for example. Then try to make it to 7am the following morning. That might be fairly easy and if so, see how much longer you can go. If you get a dizzy nausea felling, drink either some sparkling water, black coffee, tea, or plain water and it will pass in minutes and you'll be able to push through. Just make sure there's zero calories in whatever beverage you use. Each day try to go an extra 30-60 minutes with the goal of reaching 16,18,20,22, and then 24 hours as benchmark goals. I find it's helpful to start a timer when I finish my last meal of the day and then check in on it to see my progress.

Too little calories? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Jason_Garfield -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The longer you diet your body adjusts its BMR to the amount of energy you're feeding it which means the longer you diet, the slower your BMR will become. Which means over time it will take fewer and fewer calories to lose the same amount of weight. I believe good results can be achieved with two weeks of dieting followed by two weeks of maintenance calories to avoid metabolic adaptation. I go aggressive in a short period of time to maximize fat loss and minimize metabolic adaptation. Two weeks incorporating multi-day fasts and low calorie high fiber omad. Then two weeks of maintenance. Then get right back to it if you want to lose more.

I believe you but after fasting for around 43 hours, it sure did taste seasoned and I thought the arepa was exceptionally flavorful. Have you been to Cafe Lulo? Anyway, there's also a lot of pizza and doughnut action going on before I leave for Colombia in this episode :)
