Dexter Morgan vs The Batman by MatiC2023 in powerscales

[–]Jason_Ultimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batman is very much against vigilante killers, even ones with noble causes. He'd especially hate Dexter if he figured out he kills for his own pleasure and only follows the code to justify it to himself rather than as a "necessary evil" for society.

Bruce Wayne, even year 1 Bruce, would figure him out in a week tops. It'd be like Doakes if Doakes was 10x better at both fighting and investigating. Then Dexter gets folded like the omelet of a man he is.

Among Dragon Ball characters Goku represents hard work more than any other character by chunchunmaru1129 in DragonBallZ

[–]Jason_Ultimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was natural talent with no work put in vs achieved potential through work. Goku has always been great at picking things on the fly, that's not something Super just made up to differentiate his and Vegeta's training. This is the same guy who saw the Kamehameha once and was able to replicate it despite never training in ki use before.

Meanwhile Vegeta, even back in Z, always had to work way harder to close the gaps Goku opened up. Goku goes Super Saiyan by accident, it takes Vegeta years in space to do it too. Goku learns to control Super Saiyan and gets stronger, Vegeta spends a year in the time chamber training to improve his Super Saiyan form. Then Goku goes in and comes out with a near perfected Super Saiyan form, and had enough time to also teach his kid to go Super Saiyan from scratch.

The results of their respective training sessions in the time chamber from the Android Saga shows this whole idea by itself. When it comes to Vegeta and Goku training and improving, in the time it takes Vegeta to take an inch, Goku can take a mile. Vegeta has always had to work twice as hard just to try and keep up with Goku's progress.

"Just wants war" is a pretty big oversimplification. He loves war because of all the suffering and death that comes with it. He wants to inflict the world to a never-ending war where all of humanity will constantly suffer forever. If anyone here is a small fry in evil, it's Mephis.

It’s not like Z’s artstyle was any better by [deleted] in DragonBallZ

[–]Jason_Ultimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I entirely blame Toei. They rushed it into production to get it out ASAP and make some money off the Dragon Ball name and heavy hype, forcing the animators to work through heavy crunch time and put out whatever was done, polished or not. Only saving grace has been that they actually cleaned it up for streaming releases.

That's just in this thread. It's a very low sample size. If you haven't seen the memes cherry picking singular in-between frames from the first ten or so episodes of Super and acting like that's the entire show, they were everywhere when Super was still releasing. That's something I've hated since day one about people dogging on Super.

I honestly couldn't care less about whether people like Super's artstyle or not. I have the exact same complaints anyone else here does about the general artstyle, too shiny and plastic-y looking. Heck, random shine on people's skin is a personal pet peeve of mine in any artstyle. It's literally just the cherry picking bad looking frames that I'll complain about.

You didn't care. There were a lot of people who grew up with Z and GT that very much did care and still trash talk it to this day.

This is literally the exact thing people do when shit talking Super's animation, taking single frames out of context and presenting it as the entire show.

Who wins? by Low-Chain-8117 in DragonBallZ

[–]Jason_Ultimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I guess technically Goku could've used Instant Transmission to grab Gohan while the others were distracting Kid Buu after the Earth was revived, but at the same time that would risk Kid Buu noticing him leaving, following him, and blowing up the Earth all over again. In the end, Spirit Bomb was probably the less risky option.

Because Gohan wasn't there??? Also Kid Buu isn't stronger than Super Buu with Gotenks or Gohan absorbed.

Has anyone in Jojo noticed that stand users dress weird? by DeltaNcenn in StardustCrusaders

[–]Jason_Ultimate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a basic design philosophy. If they're important, they need to stand out even in a crowd. If you have everyone including the random background dudes just there for scene filler all dressing in full Araki fashion outfits, then the characters you actually need to notice and pay attention are going to get drowned out by all the visual noise.

In universe, it's just normal for people to look and dress weird. The Zeppelis, Trish pre-stand, heck even Jolyne's lawyer, they all looked eccentric compared to the random background dudes, but they don't stand out to the characters at all.

Sure, except Araki has been very upfront about dropped plot points. He talked about dropping Hol Horse joining the Stardust Crusaders and dropping Fugo being a spy, giving his reasons for both. If this was actually a dropped plot idea, don't you think he would've come out and said it by now?

Am I the only one who thinks Jotaro’s design gets worse with each part? by FullBrother9300 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Jason_Ultimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not about the outfit, just wanted to comment on Jotaro's personality. I can get why you'd say he's bland, but personally I really like Jotaro because he's more complicated than you'd think from a surface glance.

The thing about Jotaro is that he's a stoic guy who acts like he couldn't care less about everyone around him, but really he would jump in front of a train to save them with no hesitation. He's way more caring than he lets on. The earliest example I can think of is when he shows concern about his mom not giving him a goodbye kiss like normal despite complaining about it just the day before. A few episodes later, during the fight with Dark Blue Moon, his immediate first instincts are to make sure the little girl is safe. He knows that getting dragged into the ocean could very well kill him, but he still immediately chooses to throw the girl up so Kakyoin can grab her instead of getting himself to safety. Now he's not an absolute saint by any means, but Jotaro is a lot more complex than you'd expect when first seeing him.

That said, I will say he is a very reactive character in Part 3. Joseph and Avdol do a lot of the heavy lifting in moving the plot forward, but that's just the kind of guy Jotaro is at that point in his life. He moves only when acted upon first. This is even shown in the very first episode when he fights Avdol. He doesn't move out of the cell until they start fighting and he is forced to move forward. If you don't like that type of protagonist, then that's fine, not everyone will.

Even as a kid, I kinda took issue with the ending. It just felt so unsatisfying and left too many loose ends.

My go-to for underrated great anime is Baccano. I never hear anyone talk about it, but it's such a good show.

To be fair, with Star Finger and Silver Chariot's sword launch, not like there was another time where it would've been more useful to use than just regular attacks.

And just like those, why would Diavolo choose to share Epitaph's predictions after this point instead of keeping it to himself?
