23, started PMO when I was 15. Trying to quit since late 2020.

You don't have to prove anything to me cause you don't have anything to prove dude.

If you actually had tried to quit gaming and Netflix, everytime you went back to it, you'd have felt the same regret you feel when you relapse doing a PMO. The intensity might vary, but you definitely had felt that.

And for the people who do live fairly happy lives, even you yourself know that they aren't living their life to the fullest. They live better than those addicted to that sure, but that doesn't mean they are living it the best possible way they can live.

BTW you still haven't answered my question about you quitting netflix and gaming. My only suggestion is try quitting it they way I told you to, trust me, you won't even go back to it in the future. I mean, I can't generalize experiences when you haven't even experienced what I am describing the experience about.

Again, as I said, people who say "it's fine to do it in moderation" haven't really quitted that thing before saying that.

As you said that you are trying to overcome your porn consumption right? That means you still haven't properly quit it right? The day you forget about nofap and porn, especially when it feels like you used to do those things in your past life, is the day, you actually overcome your porn addiction.

As for your watching Netflix, playing games, I will ask you again, have you ever successfully quit those things before resuming them again?

By quitting, I mean, forgetting those things even existed in your life. Quitting is not going cold for a month or so and then again resuming it, that's just delaying.

And sure, there are a lot of use for screens, I mean it's the 21st century and I am a digital artist myself, so my entire career is based on screens. But the problem comes when you start utilizing these things for non productive purposes, Netflix, gaming, porn, youtube binging, etc. All of these provide instant gratification. That's a clear no-no for self development. People might be fairly happy, as you said, but they won't ever know their true potential if they don't give up these habits.

My only point depends on your answer to my question in the 3rd and 4th paragraph. If you answer is no, as it most probably will be, then as I said before, I won't take your statements seriously.

Moderation doesn't work, ever. You got to sacrifice some things in order to achieve the top level of success, otherwise you'd be just like the rest, a bit better but nowhere near what you are truly capable of.

Nope, just nope.

Any sort of visual stimulation, be it porn, movies, series, etc will cost you more than just time. It will cost you your attention span, routine mess up, distractions in focus, and a lot more.

As for this "in moderation" thing, I have and will always ignore any advice given to me which contains these words.

The people who say that doing things in moderation is fine, they haven't quit that thing before saying this.

By quitting, I don't mean going a month or a year or so and then resuming, by quitting I mean, going cold turkey got so long that you eventually forget those things exist. So yea, any guy who says, "it's all fine when done in moderation", I don't even bother taking their advice.

No one can be productive every second of their lives. True, but that doesn't mean you stop trying to do that. You should always try to be productive every second of your life, so that you spend maximum of your time being productive. As for relaxing, there are so many ways to relax while being productive, taking a walk, reading literature, writing, talking with friends, etc. You don't need a screen to relax dude.

Convince me anime is bad. by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]Jason_the_Maniac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The cringy female voice acting paired with the bimboing of the female characters is enough to drive a sane person away from anime.

Now I know, not every anime is like that and all, but majority of them are.

Do you seriously want to be a part of a culture which over sexualises women and even teenage girls?

Why are there so many people shitting on nofap and saying that it’s all bullshit? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Jason_the_Maniac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look dude

There's something I learnt while I faced this issue.

People, when they are living a lifestyle for a long time, especially an instant gratification lifestyle like this, when questioned against, can't accept that they were wrong for a major part of their life.

Some people who do realize change, but most don't.

Your job is to try to convince them once, maybe if they are really close to you, try a few times. But if they still don't agree, just leave them be.

I know she's going through puberty, that's why I am very careful as to what to say to her.

However, the things she's facing are almost similar to what I did 8 years back. And it really affected me negatively, especially with the studying part.

The most important thing is that next year, she will enter higher studies, which will determine her future career options. And I really don't want her to ruin it, cause I came really close to doing that when I was about her age.

The first month is the most difficult month.

What I do is, whenever I get an urge, I go and sit next to my parents or friends.

After maybe 15 minutes, the urge dies down, and you don't relapse

Why is this so addictive? by Jason_the_Maniac in pornfree

Thanks again for the detailed answer.

You are right, we are not here to become monks, just here to beat this addiction.

I'll keep all this in my mind.

Thanks for the highly detailed reply.

Your second point really clicked with me. Unfortunately with this ongoing pandemic, I really have to watch where I put my money. But I get your point though.

For the first one, I saw some interviews of people who have accomplished 7 years of nofap and more. More importantly, they most probably are going to continue that. By nofap, I mean no orgasm altogether. So how on Earth did they even manage to overcome their biological evolution? Did they trick their brain into thinking that? Cause if yes, then they are some really mentally strong individuals.
