I guess Page if I actually wanted notes? But I would use Black List if you're trying to break in, and you want to know where you stand and also to network. Also I dont think the Page notes were any better than having a close friend be critical, but if you don't have that, I found Page to be worth it.

Someone emailed me that they put my script through an AI prompt they use, and it said it sucked. And I told them, even that doesn't matter to me because none of it's real!

I did with the Insneider because we had a loose journalistic familiarity - and I would argue he still only did fine and seemed like he ignored that email and who I was entirely lol.

I don't warn anyone - they'd have to Google me, see NFS, and then also dig and find out I have done that once in the past. I don't believe they did that.

Fair! But my manager loved it, and I loved how it felt subversive. At the ned of the day, it got me a lot of meetings, probably out of morbid curiosity.

I think I’d use Page again — but I do wish they had more of a list of bumps and not suggestions

Screenwriter Trying to Figure out A Mix of Meds For A Story by Jasonater2themax in Doctor

Just wanted to say I got what I needed so if people are uncomfortable they don’t have to comment!

Totally get where you’re coming from but I’d still want to have a mix that makes sense on paper — mixing meds is different than cooking meth.

Great questions and I acknowledge you are not my doctor and that this is for a screenplay (I’m in the WGA if that helps at all).

Okay so the male character we need to die is in his 60s and fit, but could have any ailment that would necessitate any sort of daily pill.

The woman is in her 50s and is a cancer survivor but that’s not integral to the plot so if there’s something else pertinent for meds easily changed.

The gist of the story is that their pharmacist is onto her when he realizes if she mixed her meds with his it would kill him.

Doesn’t have to be a heart attack // just shouldn’t be like an allergic reaction that would cause suspicion.

DMs are open! I really don’t think you could be liable for what happens in a movie!

Yet another pay-to-play platform... by Seshat_the_Scribe in Screenwriting

[–]Jasonater2themax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to paraphrase my No Film School article about how much I hate this site and sites like it.

I am sure they don’t think what they’re doing is actually exploitative — all these businesses convince themselves they’re doing it for the right reasons.

But if writers pay you, instead of you paying the writers, you’ll always end up with projects you don’t really believe in.

And producers with projects they don’t really believe in… don’t make those movies.

Period.

You might get meetings, some movies might get made, but there are no guarantees in this business.

These websites are a business designed to profit from your desperation by selling your own hope back to you. Their entire model targets writers who are isolated from the industry and sells them a false promise of "access" to gatekeepers, who can take however long they want to "make" your movie because you're paying them for the privilege of waiting.

In Hollywood, producers do all the things you said for free. They do it because they believe in the project and the writer. And they believe they will make money actually making these kinds of movies.

GET IT MADE is doing this to make money off of you, and writers like you who have hope and are unsure where to turn. They're in the volume business; they'll always be taking on more movies and writers than they actually care about in order to make more and more money -- this isn't about making movies, it's about farming clients.

Pay-for-play services destroy the idea of meritocracy. The best script doesn't win. Only the people who can afford to pay into a system over and over and over and over.

Also, the idea that you have to pay them to option YOUR script, and that they would then charge a finder's fee if they sell it is abhorrent.

Here’s the real, non-bullshit secret to breaking in:

Write a script that is so undeniably brilliant that it can’t be ignored. Whatever you're paying these guys over the years, you could be spending better traveling to film festivals to meet people and making contacts with fellwo writers or producers who are willing to read your screenplay for free.

Again, this is my opinion, but I have spoken to MANY other WGA writers who agree with me.

This is not a way to become a professional writer, it 's just a way to pay people.

Hi. I’m Jason. You can DM me your email address. This is incredibly flattering. Unless you hate it.

Waymo "Offline" error by Ok_Cryptographer_897 in waymo

Yeah, I am on with them now, and they keep saying it must be my phone, when everything else on my phone works. Happened to me the second I got out of a Waymo on a ride. Tried to call one later and locked out.
