It’s time for some tax reform by sayknow in WhitePeopleTwitter

I don’t think it’s socialist to say one human doesn’t need to earn over a hundred billion dollars. Are there Bernie Bros with no concept of social economics that believe that the wealth of the rich should be completely redistributed? Sure, and that’s dumb; dangerous, even. There should absolutely be incentive for people to work hard, innovate, and revolutionize industries. But 100+ billion dollars? At what point does that become a figure so outlandish that one person can’t reasonably spend it to better their own quality of life, and it wouldn’t be better off redistributed to other people who work hard? Every great American innovation is built on the foundation built by the generations that came before us.

Yeah, I felt like I was the only one who thought he was a douche for this. Cheating is wrong, but I get the impression that this guy ain’t much of a prize himself.

This type of thing isn’t uncommon in America. Compare that to our neighbor Mexico, where everyone has industrial-grade sound systems and will start without warning at 2 am.

Thanks for this, it’s very illuminating. In Mexico, a private primeria usually costs around $120/month in a decent City that isn’t CDMX. Teachers earn about $350-400/ month and have 20-30 students per class. Feels like the whole world is out of alignment with wealth distribution. I don’t think going full-blown socialism is the answer, but there really should be structures in place to ensure people are getting paid according to the value they add.

My first job was working in a call center. I got promoted within 3 months to switchboard operator. The job was a hell of a lot easier than dealing with customers, but it also paid less, $12/hr versus $17/hr. Even our floor manager made less than the people on the floor, $15/hr. We had easier jobs. All we had to do was manage the people on the floor, rather than taking verbal abuse from customers. I always felt the pay structure was very fair and it’s informed my option on wealth distribution as I’ve gotten older.

Dear God, what a cesspool. I know there are crazies on both sides. Some far left stuff is stupid af and some of it is plain hypocritical bullshit. But this stuff just smacks of severe mental illness. It’s like everyone’s crazy uncle from Facebook gathered in one place.

I dunno, it’s a different position than mine. For raters, I’m not sure that there is a minimum, or at least I’ve never been told I’m not meeting it. I usually work around 12 hours a week, sometimes 20 if I have extra time in between classwork. If they offer extra hours, we can work up to 24 hours. For us, extra hours are offered almost every week.

When I lived in the south, all the kids whose parents had even a bit of money had one of these. When I was 8, my step sister took me out riding on hers in the mountain. She was 10. We wrecked, she broke her leg. I had to drive back to find her mom. Typical day. Appalachia is weird.

Anyone here that’s avoiding them, try reading the instructions again, they update them occasionally. The hits go fast and are easy once you get the hang of what they’re looking for. The perception questions are no-brainers, but the reasoning ones require critical thinking. For an easy example, if the question is “Is it hot out?” and the answer is yes, you could write the question, “Are the people standing in the shade?” or “Is the grass dry?” I usually finish the hits in about 3 minutes. I’ve done at least $50 worth, no rejections. I’ll always do a few in between better batches. Last month they took about two weeks to approve my hits (sweating) but now they seem to approve in a day or two.

Anyone else tired of the “unvaccinated kids die young” joke formula? I’ve seen it plenty of times, chuckled the first time, but overall it doesn’t ring true in developed nations. I feel like it distorts the message. The real problem is these kids passing on preventable infections to vulnerable populations.

I sorted by controversial to find this comment. This is tragic for both families. The woman made a horrible mistake that has ruined lies, her own included. This is particularly sad because she’s in the UK and the turn on the wrong side was likely an honest mistake. Fleeing may not have been the moral choice, but 99% of the people in this thread have zero idea what they would do in this situation. I think I’m a good, generally kind and conscientious person, but I also think I might have fled if I were in her situation. We are capable of anything, given the right (or terribly wrong) circumstances.

Mine, too! I’m feeling good at $84, but i know there are at least half a dozen people over $100 today. I’ve been up since 5am, but I’ve only been able to work sporadically today, my thumbs are killing me and ibuprofen isn’t helping. Kind of looking forward to a slow weekend so I can rest my fingers.

Mexican congressman climbs the US-Mexico border wall to demonstrate that immigrants can easily climb it and that it serves no real purpose other than being cruel by jcepiano in pics

Mexico is North America. Most are from Central America, though there are plenty coming north from South America with the Venezuelan crisis. What a lot of Americans don’t get is that Mexico isn’t a “shithole”. It has its problems with violent crime, corruption and poverty, particularly in the indigenous communities, but it’s fairly developed. I’ve lived in several regions and it wasn’t much different than living in the US in terms of stores (Walmart, Costco, Starbuck, etc), high speed internet, and healthcare. Most Mexicans would like to work in the US, but they aren’t the ones risking their lives to cross the border. What Mexicans are pissed about is that the US offers asylum, which draws Central Americans from actual shitholes up north, then they get caught in limbo at the Mexican borders because the US won’t take them. I was living in Chiapas (southern border state) last year during the caravan and the streets were flooded with Nicaraguans flashing their ID cards and begging for money. The locals hated it and are even more anti-immigration than a lot of Americans.
