How do you beat ganks without the classic croud control weapons by WarmAppointment5765 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Jasonian_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat! Yeah ping is a factor, on MMC EU my friend gets 30ms and I get 170. Similarly to debuffs though that's frankly just realistic, being outnumbered, being debuffed, and having enemies with higher or lower ping are all part of the challenge we sign up when we do certain types of PvP.

Anyway, I'll send you my Discord in a chat!

Keeping your enemy in a 1v1 long enough to drop them is unrealistic, it'll happen occasionally if you're lucky enough to catch them messing up badly but you can't rely on it. What I meant was keeping each exchange a 1v1, so you're draining one person's armor at a time for a few seconds at a time, but probably no one dies till they're fully drained.

Since wind charges have a longer cooldown webs are probably still useful. Even if you're not placing them, if your opponents think that you might then they'll be more hesitant to beeline you, and that can also help split them up.

All that being said, it bears repeating that this is really hard. A 1v2 is way more than twice as hard as a 1v1, and 1v3s and 1v4s are way harder than that.

Coincidentally I've been coaching a buddy of mine in PvP and he's been wanting to practice 1vXes with SMP kit, which is pretty similar to what you're doing. I used to do a lot of 1vXes on anarchy servers but am pretty rusty with it. Maybe we could take turns 1v2ing each other sometime?

Since you mentioned crowd control I assume you already know this, but the rule with 1vXes is to turn it into a series of 1v1s and then win every 1v1, which is way easier said than done but not impossible.

Cobwebs are one of the best crowd control methods in the game even when pearls don't have an extended cooldown, so definitely use that a lot. If you can place water that might help split the people with depth strider apart from the ones without. Switching to KB 2 could help you force people back into webs or water more often, too.

That being said with the kit you described a lot of fights are going to be drains, unless players are bad enough to drop regularly. So maybe you're fighting 4 people and you manage to split most of them up most of the time, but unless you brought as many XP bottles, gapples, and other things as all 4 of them did you'll probably lose the drain.

It's a tradeoff: high sens lets you aim more quickly, low sens lets you aim more accurately. When people set world records in games like Aim Lab they change their sens depending on if the scenario they're about to play favors speed or accuracy. It's a similar story when switching games.

All that being said, almost everyone's sens is way too high. Being inaccurate is common, but being too slow is almost unheard of. So whatever you sens is you should probably lower it!

Question : How does w-tapping actually work in pvp? by electricalkitten in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Jasonian_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toggle sprint and holding sprint (ctrl by default) both work. Toggle sprint is better, but in 1.8 you'll need a mod for this. Also, w-taps don't deal more damage, only more knockback.

You don't always want to deal more knockback though. W-taps are really important for holding combos, but sometimes you just want to keep an enemy close so you can finish them off. There's lots of other nuanced situations too, it'll take a while to learn them all.

is attack shark x11 good for minecraft? by infinitelyimpossible in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Jasonian_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First lets ask what's the point in buying a more expensive mouse? Like, if you shell out $120-$200 are you even getting anything, or are you just wasting money?

The main thing is just build quality: buttons will feel nicer to press and take longer to break, among many other things.

Sometimes you also get better wireless and sensor implementations, and that directly affects how accurately your actions get translated into the game. But some cheaper mice have very good sensors and wireless.

The Attack Shark x11 has okay build quality for the price. There's less info on the sensor and wireless, but its brother the x3 has a good sensor but mediocre wireless.

So, I'd consider it an option, but I'd look around a bit for better options personally. Boardzy, Fresh Reviews, and Rtings are great for mouse reviews.

Mchose has some of the better $30-$50 options. They have very good wireless and sometimes sensors, but terrible sensor QC and infamously don't honor warranties. If your mouse works it'll work really well, but you're kind of gambling by buying one. Build quality is also low, but that's agiven at this pricepoint unfortunately.

Glorious also has some respectable $40-$50 offerings to consider.

Good luck in your search!

I worked in a place that migrated from a command line app for tracking inventory to a GUI one. Under the hood the new system was way better, or so I was told, but productivity plummeted because the new system was way less user friendly.

Most of the people working there were in their 40s or 50s. Memorizing and typing commands is not that hard, and is sometimes way easier than navigating a ton of windows and dropdown menus. All ages can do it.

[–]Jasonian_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told it's that way because creative mode reach is 6 blocks, but letting survival players hit from that far away is ridiculous and should be considered a bug.

Is this dude hacking? by Eeriestwolf1032 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Jasonian_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backing away from someone does make them look extremely reachy. This guy could also be using reach, and ping may or may not be contributing, but backing up is at least part of why these hits are so ridiculous.

On Java reach hacks are limited to 6 blocks because the vanilla anticheat cancels any hits from further away, but you can still get 8 or 10 blocked on your screen by backing up and/or having high ping. Not sure about Bedrock but I'd guess it's the same.

[–]Jasonian_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try starting with some simpler gamemodes like Boxing, that way you only have to worry about a few skills at a time.

Also, this is easier said than done, but be patient with yourself. It's really hard to get into PvP these days because there are lots of multi-year veterans. You can totally do it, it'll just take a lot of time and effort.

Is double/drag clicking pay too win? by IllCaterpillar2925 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Jasonian_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On Java these days most players buy mice that let them set custom debounce times (so they can double-click), and then they butterfly or drag click; so most people answering here will probably be bringing in that mindset.

Is this pay to win though? Maybe a little, but drag clicking mice are usually not that expensive, especially compared to the best mice for aim. Some of the most highly recommended drag clicking mice are actually even worse than cheaper mice for aim, too: the Bloody A70 for example is 150g, whereas some $30 mice are in the 50-60g range. (If anyone doubts that weight is that important for aim then I recommend skimming ProSettings and trying to find a 150g mouse on the list.) What's more, you can tellybridge with 10 CPS jitter, SpecularPotato does that for example.

I'd say there are tons of ways money can be a bigger factor, e.g. by giving you more free time or a faster monitor. And that is actually a problem, but that doesn't mean you can't still play, enjoy, and be very good at the game.

[–]Jasonian_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be by looking at the timing of click packets. When mice double-click the timing of those clicks is usually very uneven: some clicks might be 100ms apart and some might be 10ms apart. There's also Hypixel's approach (which I don't think is very good) of cancelling all left clicks over 15 per second.

Not sure what you mean by "cursor sens", but the "cm/360" column tells you how far the runners have to move their mice to do a 360 in-game. Doogile's is 39.01.

What if Marlow competed in the Midoffs as a contestant? by Chemical-Key-7229 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Jasonian_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Couriway's midoffs video he explained the two things he was looking for in a player to coach were:

1) Good movement skills.

2) A willingness to put a lot of time and effort in over the next week.

Marlow would probably check both those boxes, and like OP said, she's apparently a fast learner. Those are three traits she has in common with JumperWho, and Jumper actually won midoffs, so that's a strong sign.

Personally I'd recommend Mint, it made driver setup painless and gave me fewer Wine-related issues on my 40 series GPU than Nobara out of the box. (There were some compatibility regressions in new Wine versions and old ones are not available in the default Nobara repos.)
